At a walking distance from the overcrowded People's square in Shanghai, close to some acceptable restaurants, nothing fancy, though. Very close to a metro station. The rooms are decent and clean. The staff helpful but most of them with poor knowledge of English and a certainly insufficient consierge. The pump of the shower gel at the bathroom was out of order.

I stayed here 4 nights as part of an organised tour. The hotel is down a back road, although it is within close walking distance to two subway stations ( lines 1, 8 and 12 ), and within walking distance ( about 2km ) to the Bund and closer to Pedestrian Street and Peoples Park. The room was average size with a very comfortable bed ( the nicest I slept in all over China ). The TV turns on when you enter the room. There is tea/coffee and a kettle, toiletries, iron and ironing board, safe. Th... Read more

we booked a standard room online with only ONE breakfast option, not 2 for the much lower price. by 9.15 am no food available .. just leftovers! we asked for some fresh food that never arrived! reception doesn.t really care, no tourist maps no help to find the big red tourist bus. not frienly at all. we were lucky to get a room with a window. bed was very comfortable with pillow options. nice quiet side street. walking distance from subway number 2 or number one. We had stayed at the Kingtown Riverside whilst seeing the Port Power game in Shanghai in May. Staff do not speak much english at all, that didn't seem to bother us as we tried our best to communicate. I also installed Google Translate before the trip which is a massive help! The Bed was spacious and very comfy with arrange of different pillows. The shower/ Bathroom was awesome and thick fluffy white towels. I think for the price of the hotel room is a very good price. Head to the coffee shop dow... Read more

The location is fantastic. Just one stop by underground to the People's Square or 15 minutes' walk to the central. Room size is good with unique design that it looks like a junior suite, with a work desk. The highlight is the two mini balconies in room. There is a Swatow restaurant opposite the hotel, bubble tea shops nearby. These two are extra benefit and surprise. The only drawbacks are: The toilet smells though been cleaned twice. Staff in reception don't smile at guests and always p... Read more

This hotel very near to the metro station line 1. The area was very near to Nanjing walking street where you can walk and shopping there. And this area was neighborhood. Overall the service is great but noise level can't be avoided as their building renovate now. You will be shock someone outside your window chitchat because they were painting the wall. Internet was good and smooth.

Nice room and staff pleasant however hard to find anyone who could speak any English. Website stated restaurant, room service, tour booking desk but did not exist. Breakfast very disappointing, little choice of western food and everything stone cold. Requested hotel book taxi to airport day prior to leaving which arrived ok however on getting into airport discovered they had booked taxi to Pudong airport which was incorrect, not the airport I requested so missed flight as was another 1.5 hours t... I was really disappointed with this hotel. Housekeeping doesn't do a great job. We moved the chair in the room to find ripped up paper and a penny underneath; so use the slippers provided! Wifi is very slow. I'm really surprised at how high this hotel ranks. It doesn't deserve it.

We stayed here as part of a Peregrine tour. Location is ok, breakfast is awful, only a couple of staff speak English and communicating with them without our guide was very tricky. The rooms present fine but really need a good clean. I would recommend staying a little closer to the bund in a slightly higher standard if budget allows.
