We will definitely return to Midas for our next stay in San Ignacio! The location is perfect, right on the edge of town and a quick walk to everything you could need. The staff was one of the friendliest and most helpful of anywhere we have stayed! The cabanas are beautiful and decorated with local art. The hammocks on the porch were an excellent place to wait out a passing shower and watch the wildlife early in the morning or watch the sun set over the town. The grounds are beautiful with many ... Midas Resort continues to be my favorite place away from San Pedro. Great staff, wonderful breakfast and the grounds are beautiful. Close walk into downtown San Ignacio. The gorgeous pool refreshes on those warm afternoons. I always feel at home when at Midas.

Really great value for clean, lean, wall appointed accommodations. 5 min walk to town center. Really comfortable beds, and newly remolded baths you would expect to see in a much more expensive hotel. Wish that we could have found something like this in San Pedro!

Visit: January 2015 Two worlds in one hotel. You have the main hotel with bar and pool area. Behind the hotel there are cottages is a more traditional way. We stayed in one off the cottages in the garden. They look amazing. Modern and yet still traditional. Spacious, not to hot, very very nice bathroom! The bed was very bad unfortunately. The pool is big and the grotto is cool. Only down side is that there is loud music all day long. In the weekends the whole village seems to enjoy the hotel... Read more

The Midas Resort is very convenient to the town of San Ignacio, so if you're staying and don't have a car it's perfect for walking to the market and the shops and restaurants in town. There is no dinner restaurant at Midas, but a decent restaurant next door (Hodes) will deliver to the bar area or even to your room, which is nice. It's a great place to stay as a base for doing the different ruins, caves, and seeing the other beautiful attractions the Cayo region has to offer. That being said, ... Read more

Midas Resort is a budget hotel, which has air conditioning, a nice pool and wi-fi. It's about a ten minute walk to town, which did not feel dangerous at all at nighttime. The rooms weren't luxury, but I suppose you can't expect a luxury room with a budget price. The showers did take forever to get warm, which was frustrating after being cold from a cave tubing tour. We had a few drinks at the bar, which was mostly quiet.

If you are in town to do the caves or Tikal this is a great option. Clean comfortable rooms and a nice pool to relax after a long day. It is just on the edge of town. Easy to walk everywhere and there is a fun restaurant right next door. It can get a little loud on the weekends so ask for a room away from the bar. Breakfast was plentiful and a great before hitting the road for one of the many adventures in the area.

The accommodations were just what we were looking for: private, secure, clean, comfortable and very charming with exotic plants everywhere and even a hammock on our private cabana porch. The staff was excellent. Andrea, who worked the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The owner, Maria, was very helpful in securing great transportation for our excursion to Tikal. The food was amazing -- especially the fresh fruit and fry jack bread (it's like a scone) which we had never tried before.... Read more
