We had 3 rooms and 10 people and we all enjoyed our time there. We had Hayward pick us up from the port and others from the airport, all pre-arranged. 4 of us had been here before and highly recommended the resort. There are activities on site including free kayaks, bingo, karaoke and a concierge Lorraine, who was very pleasant to work with. After hurricane Matthew we were fortunate to be able to go to the resort. Yes! There was some work being done at the resort and the island was devastated bu... Read more

Location is great, close to Port Lucaya Marketplace, a few nice beaches, Solomon's grocery store and a liquor store. Do not book tours through the concierge and do NOT get hooked into the "free gifts" B.S. or you will end up at a 90 minute sales pitch for a "free breakfast". Highly recommend renting a car, Ocean Reef offers a great deal, $60/day for a newer model ford sedan. The speed limit 30-45mph and there is not a lot of traffic, gas was pretty expensive though. It is worth being able to... Read more

I am convinced that the most important thing to bring on vacation is a good attitude. We had to escape an ice storm to make it to the Bahamas, so we were extremely grateful to be there. We had initially wanted to stay right on the beach, but hurricane Matthew disrupted those plans. Turned out to be a great blessing. We were able to secure a 3 bedroom townhouse that allowed another 2 women to come with my friend and I. It was updated so lovely, and had enough room to relax and breathe. We brought... Read more

I have no prior experience with this hotel. My family stayed there for 2 weeks - last week in Dec. 2016 and 1st week of Jan. 2017. This hotel property was affected by hurricane Matthew (hit in Nov. 2016). Best part of trip [other than Jetskis, snorkeling, beach time, pool time] was the "Sands Brewery" and its tour. Cost $8 per person and well worth it. You get plenty of samples to taste. Also, if you want to buy alcohol - this is the place to save money before buying it at the local stores. The... Read more

I've been coming to Ocean Reef since 2004 when Hurricane Francis devastated the Island. And my Family was well taken care of Thanks to Mrs. Davis! And we have never forgotten that. I've been back ever since with my best friends. ORYC is what you make of it! I always feel like I am among family when i'm there and they make sure my friends feel that way too! 2016 was my first year missing a vacation in Freeport and it won't feel right until I get back there next week even for one day. We come to O... Read more

On our first visit, we were lucky enough to have the last two cracked conch orders on an island where the mollusk was very scarce over the holiday season. On our second, the conch had come in and we texted the whole familyy to come and join us for the best conch we had on the island. (conch fritters, dissapointing-no conch in them). Sitting in the hot spa, drinking Bahama Mama's while waiting for the delicious Conch served with delicious rice, either yellow or peas and rice and fried plaintan ... Read more

Important: Our stay followed Hurricane Mathew by only 2 months. The island is still recovering but making great progress. Some things are still closed but some extra value is possible and venues are not crowded. ORYC has damage but not enough to ruin your stay. The property is dated and needs maintenance badly. The hurricane repairs may actually help to improve the property. The property appears to be well suited for yacht owners who are looking for a longer stay. There is a small restaura... Read more

We paid $50 for reggae dinner. They took us to an 100% empty bar playing rap music. And their was no food! So they took us to eat Greek food at the mall. Then we paid to go to a fish fry. The food was $90 the fish was dry and cold. We had to wait 90 minutes for the food. Every time you want to leave the hotel you will spend $50 in transportation. I would suggest renting a car and being your own tour guide. The hotel is too far to walk to the beach. The rooms were very nice the cond... Read more

We had a good time at the Ocean Reef during the 3rd week in November. The resort is still recovering from Hurricane Matthew but everyone is working hard to restore the resort. Many of the activities in the area have not been restore but the Lucayan Market Place, Sunn Odyssey Divers, Gold Rock Beach, and Paradise Beach Club were open. Admire the staff and Bahamians for their positive outlook while recovering from the storm.
