We enjoyed our stay at the Stadtkrug and would recommend this hotel (although they could improve in a couple of areas). We reserved one of the deluxe double rooms (room 103), which was very spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was also quite spacious. The shower tended to leak LOTS of water, and we usually ended up with a small lake in the bathroom. I'm guessing water issues happen frequently, because the bathroom had peeling paint with some mold underneath as well as water and/or mold stai... Read more

This is a very charming hotel in the pedestrian only zone of old town. The hotel is older but very quaint. The rooms are BIG with a lot of historic charm. The breakfast was ample with lots of choices and the location is wonderful with walk to everything ability

Located five minutes walk from every attraction in Salzburg. Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Very good breakfast with too much to chose from. Only concern is that even in autumn we had to use the mini ventilator in the room and open a window. We guess lack of air condition in summer is problematic.

I spent three nights here while visiting Salzburg. The hotel is unique and charming; definitely a local gem and not a boxy brand-name chain. (Exactly what I look for when I travel for leisure.) As an English speaking guest, I had no challenges communicating with the staff - everyone spoke English and was friendly and helpful. My room was on the fourth/top floor - the hotel has both twisty stairs and a convenient elevator. The walls are extremely solid - no complaints about traveling noise... Read more

This is a lovely old hotel in a perfect location. It's a short walk across the river to lovely shopping, and there are lots of very good restaurants close by. The breakfasts were very good and the beds comfortable. There was no noise from outside. I wouldn't really call this a four star hotel though. We had a double bedroom without a view, which was quite spacious for Europe, but the shower was very small and there is no air con. Our room was very hot even with the window open at night. I im... My husband and I just stayed for 2 nights and had the best time. The rooms are well furnished with everything you need. Chris at the front desk was most helpful at check in and with suggestions of things to see. The only bad part is we wished we could have stayed longer!! Would definitely recommend and will stay here again in the future!!

Great little hotel five minutes walk from the tourist crush of Old Town. Plenty of nearby restaurants, Spar grocery story across the street, Kapuzinberg access right behind hotel. Family run by friendly and helpful Hugo and son Dominic, who do a little bit of everything from front desk to waiting tables to recommending restaurants/tours. Stayed in Room 405 on top floor backside of hotel - small but quiet; next to small garden terrace, but restaurant closed Mon-Tues, so this worked perfect for us... Read more

My husband and I stayed here with our two girls (11 and 8). Lovely hotel in a pedestrian only street in old Salzburg - European charm doesn't get any better than this. Location was convenient for walking to major tourist spots. Room was nice though I wish there had been more lighting. Bathroom was basic and needed better ventilation. Staff was generally friendly especially the lady who served us during breakfast. Was always smiling and welcoming. Breakfast had a good selection with eggs made t... Read more

Great location, big room, varied breakfast choices, but rooms are very warm in hot weather due to poor air circulation. I would stay here again just because of the location, but staff is not overly friendly either.

Great place, excellent staff, perfect location. When we found ourselves in a bind, they went above and beyond to resolve our problem in ways we never would have expected. The food was beyond expectation. The atmosphere was welcoming and inviting. The location is spectacular--walking distance to the castle, the bus/train station, Mozart, Mirabell, and St. Sebastain. Can be loud if your room is by the street, but easy to let go when you've had such exceptional service and access.
