Very satisfied with this accommodation. It was clean and comfortable. The staff were also very accommodating (especially Stephanie). Would give five stars if the WiFi was better - couldn't get it in the room so had to go down to the common area to use it.

The location was great as it was close to everything in cairns city. We stayed in the resort side, hardly a resort. Although this was a budget hotel I still would not pay to stay here again. The rooms were unclean, there was mold in the shower, the pillows were yellow and lumpy, there was a cockroach walking around in the room and it was really really noisy. I actually felt unsafe as this hotel also.

Myself and my boyfriend booked a dorm room here for 3 nights. I already knew it was a very budget hostel which didnt bother me as ive stayed in many hostels. However, this place was like an actual prison. The other person who was in the 4 bed dorm with us was extremely strange, we hardly slept worrying. In the morning i went down early to ask if they would refund the other 2 nights and was told no. So i asked if there was any chance we could move to a different room, all they could offer was the... I stayed in Koala Beach Resort for a period of 12 nights in a one-bedroom apartment. Work had booked the accommodation. The resort itself is located centrally, conveniently close to Cairns mall and the restaurants and Esplanade, 10 mins from reef ferry terminal. Koala Beach Resort is divided into two sections, the left one is the backpackers and the right side is the resort. However the place isn't a resort, more of a budget motel. I stayed on second floor in room 208. The room is fairly spacio... Read more

Stayed in the Hotel section, room itself wasn't too bad but could be better. For example there could be a bigger table to eat on even if it's mobile plus there's a lack of tea or coffee (there was a kettle, and a vending machine on the property and the supermarket is open till late should you need supplies). Bit annoying that reception is also closed between 12-2PM, having to wait with a roller bag for close to 90 minutes in town isn't ideal. Couple of specifics to room 2 include the bedroom fa... So we got stuck at this place due to a computer error (online booking wasn't processed and the hostel we planned to stay at was sold out) and being that it was after regular check in times we went with what was available and close. WORST DECISION EVER. Aside from being generally unclean (days old food sitting around, stained everything, cigarette butts literally everywhere), the cold water not working (scalding hot shower in +35 weather sound nice to anyone?), the wifi not working anywhere, and... Stayed here for a while while in Cairns and its a great place to chill for a bit but not for a long period as there isn't much going on. There is a pool table in the courtyard and a mini bar but that's about it. Rooms were clean enough but I do think they could offer more to entice people to stay. I spent most of my time out of the hostel. It's also very steady for meeting people as you rarely bump into people because the communal area is so bare !

Sheets were poor fitting, dirty, blood stained & even mouldy. White towels with visible stains. Our floor hadn't even been swept or mopped before our arrival. Kettle was infested. Bathroom was mouldy and smoke alarms were not functional. Never again!!!!

Honestly I stayed in 4 different hostels in Cairns and this one was the best (or least worse). Came in December, the hostel was pretty empty so got to know the staff a bit and they were great. The receptionist even gave me addresses to find a job!! The place is not very clean (the cleaning being done by backpackers who don't get paid) but it's not the dirtiest hostel either. The rooms are spacious with cupboards and own bathroom, I even had a fridge in the living room but apparently it's not th... Read more
