The staff at the hotel were very friendly and attentive. In particular the gents at the front door lugging our suitcases up and down stairs and bringing us cold water while we were at the tables out the front. The room we stayed in was a good size and the bath with the spa jets was super relaxing. The wifi wasn't great. There wasn't a huge selection at breakfast. We were told that room service finished at 7.30pm, which is very early. Then they suggested that we go upstairs to eat instead. So we... Read more

We stayed at the Ruby River for 5 days and we loved it! The location to all attractions, shopping and food stalls in the Backpacker area. The staff were always helpful, happy to help and great with advise on where to visit and what to see. Our room had a view of the city and was so comfortable and roomy. The breakfast buffet was ok but enough. Wifi was good sometimes but it suited our needs. We found the bed to be comfortable but some may find it rather hard. We are staying here again in May... We were greeted with plenty of smiles at any time of the day. Everyone speaks good English. I love that they were all so attentive, that they knew exactly what I wanted before I asked them. Great job and keep on smiling! There are two (or maybe more..) universal sockets in the room, so this is very convenient. Room is spotless and cosy. The bath-tub is a dream! Wi-fi is strong, I know because I watched Youtube every night before sleep. For great view of the city, head up to their breakfast area... Read more

Stayed here in 2015, rooms were a little smaller than shown in the photos but this didn't bother us as was just a room to sleep in while out exploring the city! close and walk able to everything Benh Thanh, War Atrocities museum, and other Markets! Breakfast was basic but it got you a good start to the day, and lots of little restaurants Would stay here again!

We stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a package deal and were very pleased with the hotel. Staff were very friendly, rooms were small but clean with a comfortable bed, free wifi and lots of channels on the TV, including films. Breakfast was good and we ate on the balcony with great views. We stayed at the Ruby River Hotel for four nights in June. Staff were very welcoming and friendly from the start, particularly a lady called Tien who was always smiling and happy to help. We booked the Ruby Room, which although a little small was well furnished, clean and very bright and airy. The bed is quite firm, which I prefer but may be a little too hard for some people's taste. The hotel doesn't look appealing from the outside, but once inside you are welcomed by friendly staff, in a clean, simple reception area, and given a cold glass of juice. The rooms are small but in good order. They provide items such as shampoo, tooth brush, razor etc. Hair dryer and tea making facilities included. The aircon in the room was powerful. We stayed at Ruby River at the beginning and end of our trip. Accommodation was clean and pleasant, and it's a good location for hitting the high points of HCMC. We walked to an amazing foot massage, the markets, and a great European restaurant only a couple of blocks away. Good value, can't go wrong.

Due to a stuff up with initial booking we ended up at the Ruby and were welcomed by very friendly and helpful staff. The room was good and "Oh Joy" the hot water was actually hot which you are desperate for after 12 hours of acft seat. Breakfast was modest but with a pleasant view. One disappoint is a mouldy smell.......which likely to be AIR CON filter.

Service from staff at this hotel was friendly, warm and helpful; advising "do's" and "do not's" when it came to safety and general advice on Ho Chi Minh City. The location of this hotel is a short walk from the market and restaurants, with a "K convenience" only two doors down for that necessary snack or ice cream! Breakfast was tasty (and coffee was perfect!!)

After having traveled for a full day the Ruby River was a lovely welcome to Ho Chi Minh. Although being skeptical of the 'upgrade' we were offered, due to previous reviews, it was nothing to be afraid of. In fact it turned out to be better due to the renovations happening on the front side of the hotel. We stayed here for one day in December 2015. As in most of the Vietnamese hotels we stayed at, we were offered a "welcome drink" on arrival. Generally very helpful staff. Also made a dinner reservation for us. Rooms are OK standard - not bad, not great. There is quite a bit of traffic passing by outside the hotel, so there may be some noise issues at times. Check in was seamless and we were shown to a seat and offered a welcome drink, during which the receptionist came and spent several minutes reviewing a map of the city and the highlights, most of which were within easy walking distance, particularly the markets and Sai... We were upgraded and our room was amazing. We had a spa bath and fully marbled tile bathroom. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was great. We could walk to day markets and night markets. Breakfast good. Will stay there again next year. Highly recommended.

First time in Vietnam so I can't compare this to other places but I can say I only had one small problem with this hotel - the bed was a little firm for my liking but that's just a personal preference. Otherwise the staff are fantastic - helped me book a tour ( even though I chose one that the hotel wasn't advertising!), offered an umbrella when it rained, made my scrambled eggs to order with a special request, contacted my airport transfer to confirm my pick up time, greeted me every time I lef... Our tour company, Viet Prestige Travel, provided Ruby River as a 3 star choice but we think it deserves better. I checked Trip Advisor before choosing. Everyone on staff was super friendly, the hotel was extremely clean and neat, our room very comfortable and the included breakfast was great and came with a view off the 9th floor. It's right in the middle of District 1 so very easy walking access to many of the main point of interest., the market and multiple restaurants. Just be prepared for... Read more

Nice Hotel! Spent two nights there with my wife. Located in a small side street, the traffic noise was not too loud to sleep well. Compared to street level it was heavenly silent (7th floor). Therefor you can hear the hotel guests next to your room quite clearly (brushing their teeth, watching Tv). The staff was extremly friendly and helped us out with all our plans (Flight, tours, attractions). We liked the Breakfast with something different every day (Omlette, eggs, fruits, asian dishes). Acros... Read more

I was really happy with my stay at this hotel. It was good location. District 1. It was close but not too close to the backpackers district. About 2 blocks away. The room was very clean and nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. Good breakfast. I would stay there again.

If you are an Overseas Vietnamese with Chinese heritage and speak and understand limited Vietnamese language, I suggest you stay somewhere else. If you have fair hair, fair skin, and you are Caucasian, then stay here because the staff will kowtow and crawl up to you. The Front Desk Clerks in Reception and Porters needs to learn to respect and welcome ALL kinds of tourists. Please learn from the Japanese!

Loved our stay here. Location was great - central to everything. In walking distance to most attractions. Quite a modern looking hotel Clean rooms (the room we had had an excellent view of Ho Chi Minh city from the 8th floor) Incredibly friendly staff which made our stay here most enjoyable.

This hotel is really great. Good location and clean rooms, comfortable beds and excellent staff. Your centrally located in the city and with walking distance of most things. The street outside can be a bit noisy at night as the locals seem to congregate on the opposite Street till late harmless and friendly but a bit loud. In the morning it's traffic noise from beeping horns of the traffic. Maybe rooms higher are quite. It's a non stop city. At least it's nice to get into comfortable bed, a nice... Read more

We stayed here for 2 nights, the room was basic but okay. It has a good location near the night market. The service in general was good, but we were a bit disappointed that nobody at the door or the reception didn't offer to give us a towel or offered help us when we entered the hotel soaking wet because of the rain.

We had a lovely room which looked out onto the street, I believe that some rooms don't have a view so we were lucky. Nice and clean, the restaurant was on the top floor so was nice to have breakfast on the wee terrace.

Staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Hotel was modern and clean, with great air conditioning. Dining area was on the 9th floor with great views over the city centre. Hotel was close to night markets and city centre. Rooms were compact and tight! There isn't a pool to dip in after a busy day! Otherwise great!
