The room was like a monk's cell as it was dark and very small. TV did not work. The bathtub was so close to the wall that I had to turn sideways to get into the shower. The location of the hotel was very good.

Between the giants of big brand hotels the Oscar hotel is a very good place to stay. The pricing is app.. 4 times cheaper then the big ones and the location is great. Friendly staff. Good and very clean rooms. Good breakfast. 24 hours reception etc. All is good !

This is an old French hotel, nicely updated. The rooms were large and clean. The air conditioning and all the power shuts off when you leave the room with the key. It takes about 15 minutes for the temperature inside the room to improve after the air conditioning is turned on. The staff was helpful and spoke good English. They advised us not to walk down to the river during the day because it was not safe. They recommended going in the evening instead. All the sites in the French quarter were ... Read more

I had a business trip to Saigon last year. I was searching for a hotel with reasonable price but near by client office (district 1). I choosed Oscar and never regret for that choice. Hotel located on Nguyen Hue - they said that this street is golden street in Saigon. But room rate is good deal via alobooking - a local trave agency - hotel booking in VN. I remember around $50- $55/night including BFfor 2 pax. Just fews step to my client office, Ben Thanh market and there are a lot of local resta... Read more

Oscar saigon is located in a great central location. We spent our time walking from place to place and only hired a taxi a couple of times. Staff were friendly and attentive. Rooms had the necessities however, the shower pressure was very light. We could not wait to have a good shower when we left. Breakfast was a let down. Out of our 5 nights accommodation with breakfast included we only ate once. Food is bland and I understand that the top floor was undergoing renovations and breakfast was te... Read more

Location of the hotel is good and very convenient located at Distt 1 on the Times Square. The rooms are basic though the size of the room is comfortable but found cockroaches and ants in the room AC Not efficient enough for the room. I do suggest to opt for other hotels nearby

The hotel is unpretentious: simple and basic yet provides the essentials. Room is simple, clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in a convenient central location along Times Square, making it a great base to explore Ho Chi Minh city. It has many mini-marts nearby to stock up on the snacks and essentials.

This is the 3rd time I have used this hotel. This is located on Nguyen Hué, District 1 and is handy to everything. The street it is located on has now been changed in to a pedestrian zone that runs from the Town Hall down to the Saigon River. The room we had was spacious and well appointed with air-con and free wifi. This was also quiet and afforded us a good nights sleep. Of course with the street being a pedestrian zone the transport to the hotel entrance can be limited during certain hours. ... Read more

Oscar Saigon was a good budget hotel (don't pay attention to the stars) situated right on the main strip in Saigon, Nguyen Hue Street. Service was ok. Rooms were ok. If your looking for budget right in the main strip this is the hotel for you. However, if you are willing to spend another $15+USD there are nicer places around.

The hotel has a good location and is walking distance to all the sights. There are many cafes and shops around. Also the area is so lively at night with people along the boulevard listening to music, selling things and having street food. It is cheap and the rooms are decent and basic but I think there are better hotels around the area if you are willing to spend just a little more. Not impressed with the bathroom or the breakfast buffet.

The location of this hotel was excellent. It's in district 1, which has great restaurants, nightlife, and an opera house that puts on great shows. If you're traveling as a trio, they are very accommodating with bringing in another bed, though one mattress was far too soft, and one was too hard. The bar downstairs is very nice and very inexpensive as well. Everything was clean and the desk staff was great.

Stayed here on arrival into Vietnam for two nights and two nights before departure. Handy location to local landmarks and good food close by....within walking distance to most things on the tourist maps. Airport not too far away, but as always the crazy traffic can make a short distance seem to take forever! Airport to hotel taxi fare should be around VND120,000. Staff were friendly enough and helpful. Rooms are pretty basic, a/c was quite noisy and our double bed only had two pillows, but it wa... Read more

This hotel was very average. The hotel itself is old and rundown. The cleaning staff yelled in the hallway at 7 am and woke us up. The rooms are fine, a bed and a bathroom. The staff did not go out of their way to make the guests time memorable, they did the bare minimum that their job required. The elevator shut off while I was in it, which was scary in itself, and no one answered the emergency call ( I called probably 20 times) which is absolutely unacceptable. You can find much nicer hotels a... Read more

Stayed for 3 nights here. A rather small hotel with basic amenities. Hotel staffs are helpful and even reminded my mom and granny to be careful with their purses. My only pet peeve is the lack of ironing board and iron coz perhaps they worry it to be a fire-hazard. 2 passenger lifts were rather small so did not even dare go into one. Used the larger lift instead. Breakfast spread- a welcome surprise that they have a halal section. Though it's nothing much just fried rice and Mee goreng, that'd s... Read more

I have been staying here for a group visit to Ho Chi Minh. Located at the heart of Ho Chi Minh city, with numerous shops nearby. Also, near the Benh Tanh market about 10 minutes walking from the hotel. The hospitality rendered to us was satisfying. The food presented to us is awesome especially the breakfast. The rooms, I bet needs some refurbishment, considering it is located in centre of the city. This hotel is near to few money changer shops. The peoples also very good. I might be staying in... It is a nice hotel and they gave us an upgrade when we arrived but nothing makes the hotel stand out. The location is good but I don't want maids banging on the door at 9am to clean the room. They have a very good choice of TV channels.

This hotel is right on Nguyen Hue, about 5 mins from the Rex hotel. Great location for walking around. Good view from the top floor restaurant. Room was okay, a little warm even with air conditioning on. I did have a window, having seen the reviews that some rooms did not ( even with the window, it was kind of dark) . Room was clean, bathroom okay. Breakfast came with the room- buffet, primarily Vietnamese ( fine with me, but not everyone) Several mini marts next to hotel and across the street... Read more

An outdated hotel which is past it's best. I had a twin Oscar "Elegant" room No 404. Absolutely awful. It smelt foisty when we went in, it had a curtain which covered a window which in turn was directly on a block wall, therefore not a window. No natural light and therefore very clausrtophobic. Asked for a better room and told there was not any available, but the hotel was not that busy. Found the safe required a key so had to return to the reception to collect it, as it had to be signed for. Wh... Read more

This hotel is in a great location, but that is where the good things about this place end. The bed is small, short and uncomfortable. The entire hotel is rundown. Housekeeping threw our dirty towels in the corner of the bathroom and failed to remove them. The first room we were offered stank of cigarette smoke and we had to ask to change. The breakfast buffet feels stale, plates of food sitting on dusty and crumb-covered 'decorative' tablecloths. There is no iron in the room, and when calling to... Read more

This must be the fastest check-in I had ever. I handed my passport to be front desk person, he gave me a key card and directed me to the elevator and saying that breakfast is at the 11th floor. My room which I got cheap had no windows. This is not the fault of the hotel but I wish Expedia had detailed it when I did my booking. The windowed one was just a few dollars higher. But it was a good size with a huge bed and clean. Breakfast was good with lots of selection and great view of the saigon... Read more

Have stayed here many times in the past, this time only for 2 nights. Booked direct with hotel on line, including airport pick up but had to take a taxi because car did not show. Car had been cancelled because I did not agree to paying extra for a 7 seater car as their 4 seater was unavailable. Hotel failed to tell me they had cancelled it. At check in they still tried to charge for the car saying it was all included in the room rate which was untrue as I had to check an extra box when booking a... Read more
