Location is fantastic, being at the heart of the backpacker district. Staff were also extremely helpful. The hotel rooftop bar is really good and has a great view across the city (bit pricey though) Room standards are ok, but could do with a refurb to allow in more light and to clean bathrooms and overall fittings and furniture. Value is fair, but essentially you're paying for the location. Breakfast wasn't great, mostly reheated food from the restaurants evening meals the night before.

Fabulous rooftop bar and restaurant in District one near backpackers area. Wonderful staff and good quality cheap food. So good went back for lunch next day; lovely shaded area. Discovered they also have accommodation. Will definitely try next visit. Tip; go through front door and go to lift to access rooftop bar/ restaurant.

The hotel is right in the center of the backpacking street and there are many restaurants, street food carts, convenience stores, and bars right outside the front door. Also, this hotel has THE BEST roof top bar with great prices also (15% discount for hotel guests!). You can see the Saigon skyline. My only complaint was our shower, it was a bathtub/shower but there was no shower curtain or door and the water went everywhere!

When we were dropped of in front of the hotel from the airport, we were a bit shocked how busy the street was! There was just a tiny pavement with thousands of mopeds, bikes and everything that moves. We paid for one of the bigger rooms and it was big enough for two beds, the on suite bathroom was basic but sufficient. Breakfast was great and served in the next door restaurant (where we also had cocktails and some food in the roof top terrace). We had two tours booked via the hotel as we did no... Read more

The first impression of this hotel for me was when I saw my daughter's name on the list of the welcome guest that shows in the entry :). It is walking distance to the tourist attractions street yet quiet in night time and we could sleep well. The room is clean. First of all, our room was very nice and it was cleaned every day. The staff was amazing, very friendly and always there to help us out. The only negative point was there was a lot of noise of children playing in the morning. But beside of that we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It's located in a popular street so you don't have to go far for drinks or food. We would highly recommend this place.

The hotel is quite worn out and a refurbishment is well over due. Most of the staff are very friendly, however some are a little annoying when you try to have breakfast as they just want to talk, which is cool but when you are trying to eat it can be annoying. The breakfast is ok but we did see a mouse fall from the ceiling whilst eating. The hotel is ok....and at the end of the day it is 2 stars and cheap. I stayed at the Duc Vuong Hotel for three nights on my arrival to Ho Chi Minh city. The reviews on the location of the hotel made it a good option for me and the price was reasonable. The hotel is quite dated in terms of decoration and the rooms are stuck in the 80s and very tired. Having said that the rooms are clean and well kept with a mini bar and decent storage space. We stayed in the VIP room $265 AUS for 3 nights. The room is a good size with a view, sound asleep every night no noise. Good breakfast and very relaxing in the roof top bar. Vietnam is the cheapest of all Asia food and drink. Try to stay away from the western style restaurants, stick to smaller out of the way places. We were supposed to stay at this hotel for 4 nights, but checked out after one. The front desk was friendly, but the hotel room was a bit dingy and unkempt. Bed covers had multiple stains on them. When we first entered the room I had to kill a couple of pretty good sized spiders. The area is very busy and lively at night, which can be a good thing if that's what you're looking for; however, that also means that the street and the area (right outside the hotel front door) was overrun with rats.... I stayed here with my boyfriend for our 1st 2 nights in Vietnam. Our flight had been delayed by 4 hours meaning we arrived at 2am instead of 10pm! Visited on a Saturday night. The waiter gave us a menu and we immediately found the price to be extremely higher than market. We asked for the Vietnamese menus and were told they didn't have one. We finally got one and the prices on the English menu are 2.5x more than Vietnamese. Total scam. Even hotel reception desk lied to us, and swore at us when we said we would post to trip advisor. We heard great things about this rooftop bar and that it a great place to visit. which it was with a great view and friendly staff but the fact that their drinks specials were misleading possibly because of translation just put a damper on our night out. charged a lot more than what we thought. If I'm honest I would give the room three stars and the hotel itself 4 - it's a decent enough place if a little basic (we booked a standard room which didn't have a window) and the cleanliness was passable, and only just. This hotel is very conveniently located and right in the hub of the city. The staff are very helpful and try to make sure you have a good stay. When we asked to change room because we found it a bit noisy, Andy one of the managers organised everything very quickly and made sure that we were happy with the new room. We appreciated that kind of personal service. The breakfast which was in the cafe next door was great and again the service was excellent.

This hotel has a great bar on the roof, which makes staying in the hotel worthwhile as you can drink up there and get a discount and you have fantastic city views. The room itself was small and windowless and not pleasant. That said the breakfast was really tasty and the staff, like in most of Vietnam were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. They more than made up for the state of the room.

We stayed at this hotel the night before flying out of Vietnam, after having already stayed at a similarly-priced hotel in the same neighborhood the previous week. This hotel is acceptable but a little worn around the edges and definitely appears older (stained furniture, moldy bathroom, etc.). Staff and rooms are just OK. The main perk to this hotel is the awesome rooftop bar, but you can visit the bar without staying in the hotel. It's a fine place to stay, but not ideal for more than a night,... Read more

Although we were cautioned against staying in the backpackers area, I thoroughly enjoyed our location. We were within walking distance of many of the tourist sights (a fairly long, hot walk, but walkable nonetheless). The accommodations were clean (aside from room-related issues noted below) and sufficient and the rooftop bar was awesome (go for sunset). There are great restaurants nearby, the staff was super friendly and welcoming and the price was reasonable. Some maintenance issues are th... Read more

Compared to the other hotels we stayed in Vietnam, I was disappointed with the Duc Vuong Hotel. The lobby is very nice, but our room was old and worn. We booked in a room with no windows hoping there would be less noise, but there were weirdly placed vents in our room that brought in so much noise. Breakfast is next door and decent. The location was good, but there are many more options in HCM at a similar price point.

I love this hotel. The people that work here are really nice. They really look after you and are very easy going. Comfortable rooms and perfect rooftop bar with good food! Great for the single travelers right in the heart of an action packed street!

Stayed here in December 2015. The location is perfect: It's right in the heart of Bui Vien Street, which is lined with bars and pubs, most with outdoor seating and, on Friday and Saturday nights, is packed with locals and foreigners enjoying cheap beer, music, etc. At the same time, it's about 15-30 minutes' walk from most of the city's major tourist attractions, and about 10 minutes' walk from two of District 1's nicest parks. A couple of 24 hour convenience stores are also within walking dista... Read more

For the price, this was a really good find. We were offered welcome drinks upon check-in and staff helped us with our luggage. The rooms are small, but that's to be expected. We were told though that we had one of the only rooms with a window. Hot shower and free, standard toiletries. Free bottles of water, too. Air conditioning in the room. No robes or slippers though. The buffet breakfast was pretty decent. The staff was kind enough to get us taxis when we needed them to. They were also on tim... Read more

Selected this place based on good reviews and it was not a mistake. I had been in Saigon before 5+ years ago so roughly knew the location. It was still a bit shock arriving to Bui Vien street in the evening. Such a mess but got used to it :) Although the room was a bit dated, it was still clean. I liked the minibar prices were very reasonable. Breakfast was quite good. The rooftop bar was very nice away from noise of the streets below. Prices were quite reasonable as well. The location of the ... Read more
