This would have to be the No.1 hotel in Hanoi. I couldn't fault it in any way. The location is superb, close to Hoan Kiem lake and so many good restaurants. The rooms are superb with every possible convenience thought of. The service in the hotel was exemplary and the ambience while sitting on the terrace having breakfast was just wonderful. When I next return to Hanoi I shall head straight to the Sofitel Legend Metropole hotel. Would have to be one of the best hotels in the world.

I stayed here in 2012 and was relieved to see that the hotel is as fantastic as I remembered. My mom loved how they preserved the French colonial architecture yet updated it with all the modern comforts. The service is still 1 of the best in Asia and the location is unbeatable. The hotel has been maintained immaculately which is not the case at most Asian hotels. During our 3 nt stay they were repainting parts of the building and doing minor renovation although we didn't hear any noise as a resu... Read more

A very elegant hotel with great service and excellent location, an interesting hotel with lots of history in its wall!! I had the opportunity of staying at both buildings, the opera wing and the historic wing, both very confortable and spacious rooms. I really recommend this hotel because of the history, location, service and elegance!!

Staying at the Metropole substantially added to our experience of being in Hanoi. The Metropole had all of the things you would expect of an excellent hotel-- the facilities, food, and staff were all exceptional‚??but its history as a landmark really added so much weight to the stay, and I felt like it gave me a perspective on the city that I would not have had if we stayed elsewhere. In particular, I am so glad we opted to do the guests-only tour of the bomb shelter, which has been recognize... Read more

5* all the way! The hotel is absolutely stunning from the moment you arrive. It has a beautiful French colonial style, which is carried out throughout the hotel with such an attention to detail. The service is superb, exactly what you would expect and more from a 5* hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for you and truly made you feel welcome and special. Most 5 star hotels have the obligatory amenities, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and long pillow menus, but the Metropole in Hanoi has the added dimension of staff that try to interpret your needs (and I don't mean put your name on stationary and remember what wine you had last time you visited). Various times in my recent stay I was delighted by the help I received. I had trouble with my phone and the concierge (Bient) went to extraordinary lengths to find someone to fix it asap. We arrived in Vietnam and after a short tour, we were brought to the Sofitel Hotel. The staff was very friendly, high speed internet worked flawlessly, the bathrooms were very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable. The swimming pool was very nice after a long hot day touring. It was open very late and we were able to have dinner at the pool. The food was great and even though we ate at the pool, we were presented the full dinner menu so we were not stuck with burgers and fries.

Location is great, staff wonderful. On room value vs other spectacular hotels worldwide its easily a 5 star. Youd pay 6 or 7 times more if this was in London. I would probably give it 4.5 / 5 though, just because there is something about the sofitel / accor group pricing on food / drink which is slightly unjust vs many other luxury hotel chains. We would stay again though, Hanoi has it all.

Hard to fault this place. Great character and old world charm. Tremendous location near the lake and easy walking distance from the old town and great restaurants. I loved breakfast, the cafe situated along the street and above all the Vietnamese restaurant (charming experience)! Not to mention the patisserieū??įū??į

Came for a weekend stay with my husband and had a fabulous time! My husband is here for business regularly and generally stays elsewhere and we have previously also stayed at the Intercontinental which is a beautiful hotel but too far out of the city. The Metropole is beautiful, has a terrific location and wonderful service! We're big walkers so were able to walk everywhere from here, especially into the old city. The rooms are lovely, although having a step-into-tub shower felt outdated. The be... Read more

Old and new sophisticated quiet elegance of The Legend Metropole Hotel in the French quarter area showed a different relaxing side of Hanoi. My family dropped by to have merienda, drinks and the tea buffet at the coffee shop inside. Wonderful experience!

The Sofitel Metropole Legend is an exquisite hotel. The hotel is beautifully maintained and conveniently located from the Hoan Kiem lake. For running fanatics, the lake is a great place for a run in the early morning. Do be mindful of the uneven tiles at times. The service at the hotel is exceptional and friendly.

From check in to check out my stay at the Sofitel Legend Metropole was a memorable experience. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was comfort plus providing a quiet oasis after exploring the sights of bustling Hanoi. The food was delicious and beautifully presented whether it be dinner, breakfast or a casual snack by the pool. I look forward to a return visit

We arrived at this beautiful hotel, dirty, tired and hot. We must have looked a mess. We were treated as the most important people in the room. This high quality of service was maintained throughout our stay. Our room was beautiful and our bed so unbelievably comfortable and luxurious we hardly wanted to leave. Our daughter had a rollaway bed, which most hotels throw together as an afterthought. Not here. This bed was every bit as soft, comfortable and luxurious as our bed, just fantastic. It ... Read more

This is a beautiful hotel - an oasis in all the traffic outside. There are two parts - the old part and the opera part. The old part oozes old fashioned luxury - all rooms with updated, modern bathrooms. Some of the suites are named after famous people from the past, like Somerset Maugham. The opera wing has large rooms with modern decor. The elegance and incredible service are outstanding. Take the historic tour which takes you to the the air raid shelters below the bamboo bar.

Our first hotel in our Vietnam roundtrip and a great experience. We booked a room in the modern wing of the hotel. Everything is taken care of, very friendly staff and very good food is served in all restaurants of the hotel. The water temperature of the swimming pool was quite high so not really refreshing. Plenty of choice for breakfast. The hotel breathes luxury and the beds are very comfortable. Bottled water and WiFi are complimentary. Food and drinks are western prices and alcoholic bever... It would be easy to get overwhelmed with the bustling activity of downtown Hanoi, but the Sofitel provided for the perfect escape. Our first two nights in Vietnam was spent at this hotel and provided for an exceptional welcoming to the culture. The concierge staff was helpful to arrange a street food tour which YOU CANNOT MISS! It was one of the more entertaining and real experience we had in Vietnam. The hotel itself is a beautiful specimen, with a mix of the old and the new tor form a magnifi... Read more

The best and most beautiful hotel in Hanoi. The rooms are not spectacular, but are everything you need. Flawless service, a great outdoor pool and some good restaurants make it all complete. If you have some money to spend, this is your choice.

We were told that this was one of the best (most luxury) hotels in Hanoi while being driven from the airport (not by a hotel employee!) and when we arrived it did not disappoint. We were offered a room in the new opera wing or a room in the older part of the hotel. We preferred the older part, since it had more character. All of the staff were excellent, very professional. Eating and drinking in the hotel is more expensive than a standard bar or restaurant, but it is very special. Breakfast was ... Read more

Stylish, friendly, historic. We loved the Metropole, a great 2 night stay for a family of 3. Comfortable room, great pool and spa/gym, delicious breakfast. Special touches- overall colonial feel, great history including a bunker from the War but completely modernized, past guest list including Chaplin on his honeymoon, Joan Baez and Hanoi Jane Fonda. Easy walking distance to the Lake and centre of Hanoi

We have been to Metropole numerous times but this was the 1st time we stayed at the hotel. We love the history, hotel, staff and services. We stayed in the historic wing so we got a chance to be transported to the Indochine era. This was important to us because we've stayed at enough modern hotels. It's a wonderful hotel and it's a must if you visit Hanoi, Vietnam.

I stayed here for a short trip to Hanoi, it was essential that everything went well during the trip, and the hotel made sure the trip was perfect. Classic old school architecture in half of the hotel, although I was staying in the newer Opera wing. Great restaurants in the hotel (I only tried the Spice Garden, but it was fantastic) and all-around exemplary service. A truly wonderful hotel.

Historic, well appointed rooms, great helpful staff, good restaurants, the place to stay if in Hanoi. Centrally located and within walking distance of parks and the Old Quarter. Much history. I cannot be effusive enough about the fantastic stay which we had at the Metropole de Hanoi hotel. We had wanted to stay here as we were attracted by the period French architecture, and had booked one of the classic rooms in the Old Wing. As we arrived through the doors, our suitcases were whisked away and were led to a check-in area and presented with some cold face-towels. It was at this point, that the amazing things began to happen. The duty manager, Paolo, came over to chat with us and to... Read more

Had really high expectations having wanted to stay here for such a long time. Overall it was a great stay - the room was excellent as expected and the location great. What prevents me from giving 5 stars is the service. Nothing of concern just not the level I expect when compared to hotels of a similar standing within SEA. Some of the staff were fantastic but it just lacked consistency. The hotel seemed to be really crowded so maybe it was just bad timing. Still it was a great stay.

The Metropole is in a class of its own and for the quality, though it may not be the cheapest in Hanoi, comparing globally - it's great value. The hotel has been at the centre of contemporary Hanoi history, you mustn't miss the free history tour that takes you into the bunker below the property- only reopened 5 years ago. As a new Accor member I was pleased that on check-in we were greeted so warmly and then offered a drink at the pool bar (gorgeous) Our room overlooked the road, rather than the garden and pool and we were in the Heritage wing which was marvellous with fine fittings throughout. Stayed for one night on my birthday. Our room (grand premium, opera wing) was amazing. Super comfy bed, spacious room, gorgeous bathroom. We had fabulous treatments in the spa. One of the best facials I've ever had. The gym is somewhat small but well equipped. The pool is on the small side too and when we wanted to go to it all the loungers were taken. A legendary stay in Hanoi, ideally located in the center of town. It is a historical place, filled with memories and very well restored. The common area are very spacious and the pool is welcome in the simmering heat of the city. The staff is very kind and extremely helpful and the service first class. The rooms are small however and we were a little bit underwhelmed by their size in such a high end place. Overall it was a great stay and we recommend the place wholeheartedly.
