We stayed in the family suite, our beds were not correct on arrival and when we asked for another bed we were told it was too late to organise so five of us slept on two beds. Our room was noisy but did have a balcony so was good to watch the street during the day. The shower was temperamental going hot or cold and the flow inconsistent. We had toiletries provided for one person for the five of us and it caused confusion when we asked for more so we just went and bought some ourselves. The towel... Read more

We stayed at the city palace 5 nights. It is in the beautiful old city. They gave us a free upgrade to a room with a verandah overlooking the street which made us feel like we were living the real city life. Very close to yummy cheap restaurants and street food. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Although there was an issue and a room was not available for one guest on arrival arrangements were made for a hotel close by for an overnight stay with transfers back to the Hotel for breakfast. The hotel was very apologetic and apology accepted without further problems. Rooms were very clean, quite large and comfortable. Breakfast staff served very quickly with juice, cereals, main breakfast meal and tea or coffee all being placed on the table at the same time.

Very obliging staff gave us a warm welcome. We arrived very early and they found a clean, comfortable,ready-to-occupy room in a sister establishment 100m away; and trabsported our baggage. Subsequent nights we returned to the Hanoi City Palace and the high quality service continued. Room was comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. A simple Western breakfast was provided in the Dining Room The HCP doesn't offer glitz but for a middle-income Australian couple like us it was all we could have hop... Read more

I arrived back go Hanoi from Sa Pa late at night and have read reviews on Expedia and trip advisor on where to stay. Hanoi city palace hotel had a fairly good rating. When we arrived, no one was at the front desk and they were confused at my reservation. After we sorted that out, we went to our room. The guy couldn't figure out how to switch on the lights... The room itself was not as clean as I thought. We found a few dead bugs and live ones crawling around. The lights in the bathroom was ver... Read more

My stay at the Hanoi City Palace Hotel was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was spacious and had everything I needed. My favorite part of the stay was the kitchen that served breakfast that is included in the stay. They had a kitchen staff that prepared hot meals upon request. I would highly reccommend this hotel.

I just stayed at city palace and was very impressed with how nice the service was. My friend and I were going to share a room for three nights, but our plans changed and we only required two nights. They had no problem canceling the night we didn't need. Then on the day we checked out, they let us leave our bags while We explored the city, and when We came back, offered for us to shower even though I wasn't paying for that night! They even went out and bought my bus ticket for me to my next dest... Read more

This was my 2nd stay at the hotel. I planned to visit Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa within 8 nights/9 day tour. All I had to to is call Mr. Phong (the hotel Director) and inform him about my arrival plan. Rest all he did. He sent me an itinerary for the whole trip. the hotel booked all the tours with relaxing breaks in Hanoi. Everything was planned by the hotel - from pickup to drop off at the airport. All needs were taken care of without asking. Hotel staff are fantastic and very gentle. Breakfast... Read more

Clean, comfortable accommodation on the middle of the Old Quarter. Staff went out their way to help us (they even held our bags for us for 4 nights whilst we went on a trek!) Friends stayed in a hotel further out and really regretted their choice, this is the perfect location and for the price the rooms were fine. Breakfast was delicious.

We found the front office staff aka James (Jimmy) wonderful. He was so helpful and concerning, a great asset to this hotel. Location for exploring Hanoi was good, central and within walking distance to Old Quarter highlights. Our room on first night was great. Spacious, comfortable with a balcony. Breakfast each day was good. Our room on return from Halong Bay was OK. Bathroom tiles obviously difficult to clean due to design therefore a bit mouldy and our TV didn't work. The staff at Hanoi City Palace were wonderful, extremely accommodating and friendly. When one in our party lost her cell phone in a taxi, the staff not only called every taxi company to find it, but then sent someone to personally pick it up and bring it back to us. Amazing service! The location is also great--right in the middle of Old Quarter, which is lively and near the lake. We enjoyed breakfast (with a great menu) and were able to set up our tour to ha long bay at the hotel at a great pric... Read more

This hotel was disappointing based on the reviews. Positives: reception staff were exceptionally helpful and very kind. Any problem they really tried to help. Location of the hotel was good. Negatives: shower was poor and in real need of an upgrade. View was of a brick wall and breakfast was difficult as the order got confused every day. Avoid taking advice on trips to Halong Bay from the guy who hangs around near by. Book through the hotel or travel agents as we got really ripped off.

Easy to reach the old quarter main attraction areas by foot. Amenities could be improved, not exactly as seen in photos but the room meets the standard and it's quiet. Overall it's a good experience especially the staffs who are very helpful and try to provide you with all necessary info.
