The Coconut Palms was picked by me as we needed to spend one night in Vila before flying to Tanna Island, so anything central and fairly cheap was wanted as we weren't planning on spending much time there. I think it purports to be 3 stars, maybe a tad generous but definitely well above your average backpacker place. The fussy would find the cracked tiles and shabby detailing annoying, but the place really is okay for a night or two. Ten mins walk or so down to Port Vila. Reasonable pool and oka... Read more

Stayed here for several days. It isn't a resort, its a budget hotel. The place is dated and in need of a good refresh. Its not the best or most convenient location as its up the hill and the local jail is only a few minutes walk. Its overpriced for what you get. The rooms are basic but comfortable, although there wasn't much hot water for a shower. It would be good if there was a safe in the room. Wifi is free (but slow) and is only available in the lobby area. Had no reception in my room. The... Read more

The Coconut Palms was a last minute booking due to flight changes. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room had a great view. We didn't have a en-suite and the shared bathroom facilities could do with a upgrade but for the price, which included breakfast it was value for money.

We stayed nearby but had a great lunch here one day at the pool side cafe. As I'm coeliac and need to eat gluten free I was thrilled to find that everything on the menu was either naturally gluten free or could be made that way.

I stayed here for work for a week and even the annoying things are cured by the charm of the staff - you can't help but smile. They try so hard. Although the place is in need of a good revamp and there are things you have to constantly chase (like the net and repairs to basic equipment), they're attended to with courtesy and warmth. I can put up with lots when there's a pervading atmosphere like that. It definitely is NOT a resort but it is a comfortable, safe and feel good lower to mid-range ho... Read more

I did not consider my room good value. All the walls were painted white the only decorations were a small seascape on one wall a mirror and a native Spear above the bed. The only Windows were in the bathroom but there was a balcony. There was also tea and coffee making and a microwave. Only soap was provided and there wasn't a shelf in the bathroom for ones own toiletries. The buffet breakfast was good but it was three days before I discovered the toaster which was in the bar area. I'm visiting every country in the world and chose Coconut Palms for my three night stay in Vanuatu. By far the best thing about the resort was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and two of the guys even accompanied myself and another guest to a nearby kava bar, where we had a great time with the locals. The pool was also fantastic. Bigger than many hotel pools and the water was beautiful. I had originally booked a small cheap single room with shared bathroom which I was happy with, until I... Read more

This place was very good and affordable the rooms were mostly cleaned and organised. The tv didn't work and we asked worker to help us to try to make the tv work but couldn't it was strange because the room next to us tv work well. It is a bit of a pain with the wifi because you couldn't us it in the room only in the restaurant, bar or lobby but was very slow. When my family was having breakfast there was a slice of bead that had mold on it, there was probably more slices of bread with mo... Read more

Shared bathroom was dirty and small enough that you could hardly get dressed in there. We had the Hibiscus room and had a bed and tv only. Friendly people be sure to check your bill each day. Taxi to airport should only be 1500v

I stayed 3 weeks, great food, staff were wonderful & very accommodating. Various room choices. If you are not happy with your choice ask to see the others. Its possible to change rooms. They all have different conveniences. The bar is well stocked & the restaurant provides delicious food. Lots of options.A short stroll to the centre of town, just 5 minutes. Don't be put off by the local prison being down the road, its of no consequence. The local public transport stops & starts anywhere. There a... Read more

I stayed in this hotel for 12 glorious nights. Although the weather wasn't the best during my stay, the staff made my holiday as perfect and eventful as possible! Cocktails, pool tables, fire shows, kava drinking, and continuously amazing service throughout. The manager, Elliot, was also very helpful in assisting with that morning coffee kick and booking of tours. Top bloke doing a superb job at running Coconut Palms! I would definitely return..! Thanks all!! Hopefully see you all again soon!

Was very well looked after at the friendly Coconut Palms any questions and help I needed was delt to by Zaiken and Hellen my two go to people. The hotel was clean fully supported and at a great price bracket for the market they are in. It was only about five minute walk from town and was quite happy walking the path back at 4am. All the locals are friendly english was understood everywhere. If I needed to travel I used Roy Tassi from Black Sands if you call him on 547 6028 I always got a promp... Read more

The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is good, but not 5 star. Coconut Palms is located to enable 10 minute walk to shops on the main street. The buses (Hiace vans mostly) come by regularly and are easy to use. The restaurant provides a good breakfast and dinner. The pool is great when it gets hot.

Visited coconut palms for a few drinks and the fire show which is in Saturday night at 7.30. The fire show is amazing, along with the friendly and helpful staff. The fire show is also free so definitely recommend a visit if you get the chance!

my room (107) looked like a prison cell, small window, single cot bed took up most of the room, hit my head on the tv walking into the room. the bathroom was shared and down the passage one way and the toilet was down the passage the opposite way. I was so horrified I checked out 15 minutes after checking in. This room would have ruined my view of Vanuatu, but instead I moved to a lovely resort and had a wonderful holiday

The fun started at check in. 2 am and the dyslexic bell boy takes our the key for our room (310) and unlocks room 301 with it. Pity the poor people that were in bed asleep in that room. It appears that one key will in lock any bedroom. So don't keep any valuables in your room! There is an actual key and only one per room, so if you and your family go in different direction you have to work this out. The complex is 3 storeys and no lift, so if you have a disability, ask for a ground floor r... Read more

This place is called a resort but it is rather a 2-star backpackers place. The place is very tired and rooms and beds are uncomfortable. We were first put into room 105 but the noise from traffic in the hallways and people using the communal bathroom next door made it impossible to get any rest. They moved us into room 104 this was marginally better but still very basic - no bedside lamps, leaking toilets, very old snowy TV, etc,., etc. The resort is located in an area with a lot of fauna (dogs... This place is not a resort. It is a backpackers place. They charge you even the air you breathe. The Rooms are ugly and uncomfortable. The have fans that make noise and it is impossible to have a good sleep. The food is 3 times more expensive than in town. The only good thing is that is close to town.

This is our second time saying at Coconut Palms. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to improve your stay. We previously tried an air conditioned room but found the fan room more than sufficient this time round (October). Loved the views from the top floor. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and always ready on time, fueled us for our busy days of volunteering. Wifi access from our room. The fireshow is always fun. The pool was a huge bonus to cool off. Highly recommend t... Read more

Just returned from a nine-day stay at Coconut Palms and had a wonderful time. Wonderful staff and incredible value for the accommodation considering the other options. Pool is ample for swimming and the food great. The owner/manager Elliot also made the stay easy with assistance if required. Short walk into town which is all downhill - easy - but got buses back. Remember that this is 'budget' accommodation and fulfils all the promises made. Will be staying there again next time.

Unfortunately I was not able to stay at this hotel due to flight cancellations. However, I wanted to write a review on how friendly and understanding the staff and manager were of the circumstance. They were happy to go through the process to issue a refund and liaise with the travel agent supplier to make this happen for us. I cannot thank them enough for their willingness to help!
