I recently organised a freediving trip for ten people to Hideaway Island. Christian was very helpful in the lead up to the trip. He and the dive team made sure we had everything we needed to have a fantastic time. We had generous use of the gear lockers and the boat dives were stunning. The beachfront has direct access to a 60m drop off so it's the perfect location for freediving training. The team were super friendly and we really enjoyed our time in Vanuatu. We have just been to Hideaway for the 3rd time: 2007, 2014, 20016. We keep coming back because of the great staff, the easy-going style, the great snorkelling and good scuba diving. The rooms are nice and airy. No air-con, but ceiling fans which we prefer. We choose to stay in a bungalow but our daughter came with us this time and chose a room with share facilities which was also good. The clam-shell washbasins are really charming! The restaurant is open-sided and right on the beach with some... Read more

I came to Hideaway Island back in May 2015, just after cyclone Pam. It is amazing how much growth has occurred within that 12 months with the island now covered and very lush. The staff are always friendly and the best part smiling! We had the opportunity to try out the Melanesian night with their traditional cooking which was fantastic and very yummy. The diving was great ...really enjoyed clown fish patch...thanks Christian. Looking forward to coming back again.

We stayed for an afternoon on the beach. There's definitely plenty of fish if you're up for a snorkel, but the coral is pretty trashed. And the visitor-accessible part is a fairly non-descript bar/restaurant that feels like a set out of Miami Vice (the old one, not the rebooted one with Colin Farrell). It's worth an afternoon trip if you're in need of a change of scenery, but nowhere near as idyllic as other parts of Vanuatu.

Hideaway was fantastic for a school group of 33 Yr 13 students studying tourism development and the effects of the cyclone on tourism. Rooms suited our needs perfectly, food was lovely and snorkeling meant there was always something to do. Hosts were keen to ensure that our stay went smoothly. Thanks to all the staff.

$15 Australian per person to set foot on the island. We were three couples going there for lunch and we were met with this outrageous charge after also having to pay for the ferry across. The ferry was independent of the resort and ended up not charging us and was very apologetic about the added charge. The Vanuatu people are trying hard to recover from cyclone Pam and it seems shameful that a well know resort will charge a cover amount just to step on the island.

We were extremely well looked after by Mark and Sue last week - all 36 of us. The group was a Geography field trip for senior students from NZ and we felt very special when we arrived and realised the pergola on the beach had been set up just for us. This made meals and socialising very easy as we had a designated area to meet, chat and eat that didn't encroach on other guests privacy. Everything was very efficiently managed, clean and accessible. They put on a BBQ night and a Melanesian feast ... Read more

If you want 5 star luxury this place may not be for you. However if you want a place with friendly staff and owners, good snorkelling and a good atmosphere then you can't go wrong. We had a one bedroom bungalow which was spacious and comfortable. Great views and a breeze in the afternoon ( which is handy as no air con). The resort is easily accessible by the free "ferry", or you can walk at low tide. Mele village nearby is worth a look. If we returned to Efate, we would stay at Hideaway again .

Just spent a week on Hideaway with a large group of diving friends from SEAL and thoroughly enjoyed my stay on the island. The staff were very friendly and were quick to rectify any issues which were minor. The dive team were a pleasure to dive with and were always on the alert to point out small sea creatures. Great to see that some corals are coming back with Kathleen reef being in great condition and the wrecks being another good dive site option. A credit to your operation.

Although a little more pricey than the rest of Vanuatu (much more western-oriented) this is truly an earthly paradise. We, a family of 5, had a bungalow next to the beach for 9 days. The incredible thing is, although the beach is made of corals and shoes are necessary, as soon as you put your head under water, you're in another world.
