Waukesha was our overnight stop before touring 10 Chimneys (the Lunt/Fontanne estate in nearby Genesee). We liked the Clarke hotel's location because it was centrally located and we could stroll to shops and restaurants without needing to use the car (the hotel has free overnight parking in the municipal lot across the street). The funky, historic neighborhood has several galleries, pubs, antique/collectibles shops, and cafes -- all very laid back and informal. Dining in the Clarke Hotel Restau... Read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. Conveniently located and very charming. The only drawback was the noise from the ventilation system. The room was very large and the bathroom was amazing! Spa tub with a separate walk in shower. Very clean hotel with a very comfortable bed and bedding. Stayed on a Sunday night so not a lot of outside noise.

We stayed here on New Years Eve and were very disappointed. When originally opened this was a nice boutique hotel, but it has been let go, and is not well cared for currently. The rooms are well worn, not clean, tattered furniture, banged up woodwork, soiled carpeting, and poor housekeeping services etc. Situated upstairs over several bars, so it's kind of noisy at night and of course the bars stay open until 1 AM! Currently owned by an Investment Group that owns a bunch of other B&B type establ... Read more

Nice size room, fairly clean. The shower is really nice with all the different shower heads. Very centrally located...great for visiting Carroll University. If you are going there to watch a game, let them know and you might get a discount. The street is pretty noisy with the bars. Minimal service. Every room is a bit different with size and layout.

We picked this hotel for a weekend get-a-way because we love their sister hotels..Chateau DePere and St. Brendans in Green Bay. It's the little things that will give you a bad review. 1st was all the construction around the hotel..messy, and a pain for parking. The room was large, but very boring! Really could use some art work on all those big brown walls. There was no clock in the room (we do not have smart phones attached to our faces 24/7. We were 2 people...there was only one washcloth..1 ... Read more

The quaint hotel is located right in downtown along side the bars, restaurants and fun. Hotel rooms are spacious and very clean. Irish pub located on the main floor has a very European flavor. Complimentary, hot morning breakfast was great. Staff has a very welcoming attitude.

No chain type hotel here.Very nice, everything from this 20 room hotel is unique, from the continental breakfast in the irish pub with individual quiches to the room set up.The rooms have really comfortable king size beds with high quality bedding and lots of pillows, best sleep ever for all of us we had 2 rooms.1 room had 2 bedrooms each with a king bed nightstands and lamps and a tv and closet.Room had a large dressser, coffemaker and mini fridge and a large bathroom with a huge kohler body jet sh... This is a great little hotel for those who like to see a show at Alpine Valley but don't want to camp! Hotel is very clean, rooms are large, and staff is friendly. Added bonus is the hotel is locked later in the evening so it's safe too. Only thing that needs a little improving is the breakfast. The food tasted good but we had to re-heat it all up ourselves and the choices were limited. The hotel also doesn't having vending. Would stay again!

Great hotel on the main strip downtown! Beautiful rooms and great bartender at the pub in the bar-thanks David! The hallways smelled a little, but the rooms were worth it and no smell in the rooms. All the amenities! Great place to stay if in Waukesha!!

This was a three or four but really in between the two.I really enjoyed the quirkiness of the Clarke. It probably isnt for everybodybut overall I would stay again. The shower and the bed were favorites parts but the high ceilings and windows were cool..The hotel and room felt worn but in a good sort of way..Our prices were fair and the location took us to some neat places like Hannons...the resale shop called Pinkys?..Daddy O's...Loads of Irish Pubs nearby..Shuttle to Milwaukee a few miles away wa... A native of Waukesha I was looking for a quiet place to stay while I was home visiting family. My room was perfect in every way. The tubs are jacuzzi style. The showers are great. The beds!!!!! Crazy amazing. A lot of work went into this unique hotel. Location is great. Spend your Friday nights walking the streets of Waukesha listing to live music. All and all great location and great hotel

I gave The Clarke Hotel another try and it was a positive experience this time. The two bedroom suite was very nice. I had a great time with friends in downtown Waukesha for the Friday night Band's event activities. The Hotel's location was perfect for my needs. The staff was very nice and helpful. I am sure that I will stay at the The Clarke Hotel again in the future.

The Clarke Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Waukesha, WI. The hotel has a very comfortable feel and staff is very personable. The entry to the hotel is located at street level and immediately next to the Irish Pub portion of the property. All of the rooms were oversized in floor space. Each room has a Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge and plenty of bathroom amenities. There is an elevator that services only the 2nd floor. Our initial reservation was for a 3rd floor room, but upon check-... Read more

We had a corner room and loved the view of downtown Waukesha. The large bathroom and large walk-in shower were excellent and bed was very comfortable. Staff was pleasant and helpful, although we were disappointed that the DVD player we had requested in advance became a problem. The complimentary breakfast was very good. But parking is a bit of an issue, and with no fitness center or pool, guests needed passes for a gym several miles away. And the hotel computer for guest use was worthless. And a... Read more

The only negative thing I have to say is the noise from the street over night. Bikes and peoples. My room was just ahead. But with the A.C. on it is not a big deal. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant very good. I would go in again.

This was a lovely place to stay. We had what we found out was the 'Honeymoon Suite' that was so pretty! The room was huge by modern standards with about 8 windows onto the streets below - very large bathroom (had to ask for extra towels; was set up for only 1 person?); however, that request was promptly handled. Very soft, snuggly robes supplied in the closet. (Noticed a couple of items that needed repair; however, at checkout we were informed that updates and repairs were ongoing in several... Read more

I stayed at the Clarke hotel for a work meeting hosted in Waukesha. I enjoyed staying at a smaller hotel that wasn't affiliated with a large multi-national chain. The front door staff was friendly and helped guide me through the twisted hallways to my room on the third floor. The room itself wasn't extremely memorable, the bathroom was probably the most unique part of the hotel having a very elaborate shower that was lovely. The parking lot of the hotel isn't directly connected to the buildin... Read more

What a beautiful historic classically shaped building. Built late 1800s. It seems the beautiful Waukesha downtown has maintained many of the original historic buildings near the Fox River. Check-in on the first floor, all rooms on the second floor which has a couple of levels. The hotel is maintained and been updated very nicely. Our room had to walk down a half flight of stairs to get to. A big room with a desk, couch, chair with an ottoman that opens with a laptop desk, king bed with lots o... Read more

The Clarke has "charm" but it needs to pay more attention to the "housekeeping" details that keep patrons faithful to it. There was nothing "major", but enough to be annoying. First, we had requested a room with two beds and got a room with a king bed. Two girlfriends on a getaway weekend - really wants TWO beds. Other standouts - the coffee maker didn't work, there were not enough towels and NO washcloths, one of the coffee cups still had lipstick on the rim from someone else! Ewww! In fairnes... Read more

We stayed in almost all the rooms as well as holding our wedding rehearsal dinner here. The rooms are unique - each one is a different size and shape - and each one I saw was huge! The bathrooms are well appointed with great showers and tubs and everything was really clean. I'd definitely stay here again! Our event was done well with some glitches that could have been avoided with a point person in attendance - the meal was very late and the salad and dessert never arrived. The food we did ... From the building to the hospitality of David, the Clarke hotel is a gem. I travel for work, but this is also a great getaway hotel. I only wish the shops and stay open a bit later. The food is very accommodating, even if you are a vegan, passing through the cheese state.

The hotel check in is in the bar. So when the bar closes, the hotel locks the doors. We made it work, but it was a little like being in high school with a curfew. The staff was friendly and this is a great place to stay.

This is the perfect location if you want to enjoy historic downtown Waukesha. It's located in the heart of the little downtown which has many restaurants, bars (some with live music too !), and shops. Everything you could need is located right outside your door, including a bike shop where you can rent bicycles and connect right on to a trail that roams from the downtown area out through the suburbs in a park-like setting. Such a great spot to stay!!!

We booked this hotel because of the location. It does not match the description or the pictures. It is a very worn hotel. We got a suite because we like to have a living area. It was room 201 and let me tell you it was NOT worth the extra money. The "living area" was basically a tiny desk, a work sofa and an upholstered chair that are sitting there immediately upon entrance to the room. But things are awkwardly placed so its as if you were hanging out in an entrance hallway. Then there was a lar... Read more
