I stay here on business trips to Milwaukee about twice a year. It's a fabulous hotel with interesting architecture and perfectly maintained. Every room I've ever stayed in has been updated to include a small kitchen. The restaurant & bar is very nice and not too expensive. You can walk to the lake and the hotel is conveniently located. I love staying @ the Knickerbocker.

A family emergency arose and they refused reimburse the cancellation charge for one of our rooms. I'm not a wealthy person this trip was supposed to be a treat for my kids so I was hurt pretty bad over it. Next trip to MKE we will go elsewhere.

I wish I could say more but with a busy schedule my time is limited. I did want to write a review though. This is definitely like no other hotel I have stayed at. It was wonderful! It is old but not outdated, the restaurant "The Knick" has AMAZING food, the staff were friendly and helpful and my rooms were amazing! Close to everything, quiet, and it really makes you feel like you are in a home away from home. Everything is high end and very nice. I was skeptical about staying because of so... Read more

i am old enough that I remember down town hotels in the 1950's. If that is what you are looking for, this hotel is perfect. Nothing has changed since at least 1953. The last time the rooms were redone was during the Eisenhower administration and not much was done then. The only way to change the temperature in the room was by opening the window. Since I was obviously the first person to try this in 40 years, it was not easy. To describe the room decor as drab would be upgrading the place. ... Read more

Great location on the northern end of the heart of downtown. Parking is going to be a challenge on the street, $18 per day for the street pass, (otherwise you have to move your car every 2 hours). Consider valet, (cost unknown). The lobby is old time and great, there is just no real place to sit of enjoy. The room, while quaint are quite old. Mine had a small kitchen and an odd little.

This is a fun, quaint old hotel. Great service and feels like home. The rooms are very comfortable with a kitchen and all the services you could ask for. It is on the lake and in a residential neighborhood very close to everything. Loved it and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Loved the experience. Came out with my wife Jaki for my birthday, which was Monday June 13. Thanks again. Henry and Jaki Florsheim

Stayed for four nights on a business trip. I arrived late approx 1am and the process for checking in and getting the car parked up was a bit time consuming. Having to pay for the parking as a staying as a guest appears to be a bit of a con. I can understand for downtown park during the day but it shouldn't apply to guests. The location of the hotel is pretty good being near the park but easy to get access to downtown. The rooms are a bit quirky but ok. In the room that I was in had kitchenette... Read more

This is a beautiful mix of old and modern with very friendly and helpful staff. It is located near/within walking distance to Lake Michigan, art museum, restaurants. It is in a lovely area of Milwaukee. Rooms are outfitted with a complete kitchen--stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, dishes, etc.--perfect for longer stays. Adjacent parking is available for an additional charge (parking is at a premium in this area of Milwaukee).

Very good value for money - especially if you have a family, and need to stay a few days. In the centre of town, which makes it a great place to stay to explore. Very helpful staff on the reception desk. Well appointed rooms - apparently all with a kitchen. Clean & comfortable. We had a junior suite on the 3rd floor - the elevator doors are a bit noisy so if you can, get a room away from the elevators. Doesn't serve breakfast, but there are great breakfast bars within 10 mins walk. Good bar... Read more

All staff were very friendly, especially front desk & housekeeping. The room had a kitchen which made my stay very comfortable. The location was ideal for our visit, we walked to the lake front, the Discovery Center, coffee shops, a food store and, of course, the wedding venue.

I decided to spend the nigh in Milwakee since I was attending a concert at The Shack which is walking distance. I booked the hotel the same day and the price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. I enjoyed the hotel, the rooms have a kitchenette so even if you want to cook you can do it. The rooms were clean an in decent condition. The restaurant was ok for a late night burger after the show. The only disappointment was the parking, they didn't have a spot and I had to go outs... Room 712. This is a block of privately owned condominiums that are rented out and serviced apparently. Reception was very professional and helpful. Room was clean and spacious, bed large and comfortable. The building is really historical and impressive to enter. A surprisingly lively bar hides behind an off corridor door. Only downside was the ancient plumbing operating the shower which my wife never figured out, also the almost hidden keyhole to enter the front door which needed a shove to ente... Read more

Absolutely loved the quaintness of this hotel and the vintage style accommodations. Beautiful location near the lake with nice dining choices nearby. Rooms were very spacious and while we only stayed one night for an event, this would be a place to stay for an extended period of time as it has a full kitchen and nice seating area. The public areas were also very welcoming and we loved the antique style of the place.

My wife and I were going to a concert at the riverside theatre and wanted to stay in the downtown area. The place is absolutely beautiful with an old world charm that is hard to describe. We dealt with a couple different staff members and everyone was friendly and helpful the entire time we were there. The room had a wonderful city view thru the kitchen window... yes kitchen, it was like a one bedroom apartment expertly furnished and very comfortable. We also had dinner at the on site resta... I stay at numerous hotels throughout he country every year. Had very high hopes for the Knickerbocker this past July. Was looking forward to a good family trip to my home town of Milwaukee. Location downtown near Lake Michigan and size of rooms (actually converted apartments) was very attractive. Unfortunately, was likely the worst hotel we have stayed at in over a decade. Furniture and carpeting dirty and appeared to have been at least 20 years old. Immediately made us think that we m... Read more

I stayed in room 308 on November 12, 2016. I purchased a suite thinking that it would be better than a regular room. Unfortunately, there were visible stains on the carpet and the toilet seat had a large crack in it. While the public rooms are nice, my guest room was way below acceptable standards.

I was looking for a room downtown during the peak summer season. The other hotels I had considered were so pricey and being originally from Milwaukee, I knew weren't really worth it. I happened upon the Knickerbocker and was able to get a 1 bedroom suite for less than what I would get an average King bed for at other hotels. The suite was great. We had a small gathering of 12 people and it comfortably fit everyone. The decor was nice, the suite had everything we needed and the bed was very comfo... Read more

We love renovated, art deco style hotels. But we had never tried the Knickerbocker. Our daughter was in Milwaukee for a conference and so we chose the Knickerbocker because of it's proximity to our favorite restaurant, the Lake Park Bistro. The lobby is tastefully refurbished, quiet and elegant, with low-level lighting that puts you in a calm state right away. Our room was large and comfortable, especially the bed. When you stay in an older establishment it comes with a few quirks and perha... Read more

We visited Milwaukee to see our daughter who lives and works here. On a recommendation from a friend, we booked the Knickerbocker on the Lake for three nights. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Walking down the canopy covered entrance way, our eyes widened as we took in the 1930's original inlaid marble floors, crystal chandeliers and hand painted pillars. Doors in the hotel are right out of 'Poirot' with curved fronts and a hidden closet inside for guests to leave suits for pressi... Read more
