Wish we had stayed more than just one night! This hotel is in an old converted building downtown. They've done a great job with the conversion--stay in one of the corner rooms to get the full effect of the high ceilings and big windows. When checking in, Ashley asked us what we had seen while in Wisconsin, and I indicated we had tried to visit a brewery but hadn't been successful. When we returned to our room that evening, there was in ice bucket with two bottles of local beer and a nice not... Read more

We choose the Hilton Garden Inn downtown because it was in the center of the city and because it was in a beautiful historic building. As we pulled up in our rental car, it was slightly dismaying to see the vacant building next door with no sign of life or refurbishing. In fact the whole block looked like that. It made it a bit dreary. My husband had to wait for a couple of minutes with the car before anyone showed up for valet and I climbed the steps with my bags, again, no attendant at the... Read more

We liked this hotel a lot. It's situated in an historic bank building that was repurposed as a hotel, but they did an excellent job maintaining the historic/classic feel of it. It felt like we were in a boutique hotel that had Hilton Garden Inn branding. The atrium stairway was particularly magnificent. The hotel is well situated for walking to downtown spots. Plenty of restaurants and the historic Third Ward were all within walking distance, as well as the River Walk (And the Fonz statue!) The... Read more

Nice old building in the heart of Milwaukee. While the old industrial style is kept intact, the hotel interior is modern... Nice bar and restaurant, modern room keys, good quality sleep and rooms. Internet is pretty fast, business center well equipped and functioning. A few blocks away from the lake, therefore a good place to do a good outdoor run.

The goal was a fun mini trip from the pressures of work and home. The primary focal point was the Milwaukee Art Museum matched with solid dining experiences. I wanted a hotel that would be close to the Third Ward and museum. After a full day of art and lunch at Cafe Benelux (Bloody Mary is a must!), we checked in. If I had known just how close the hotel was, I would have valeted there and walked over for lunch and shopping. Valet is super convenient and fee is currently $30. Check in was a breez... Read more

Superb historic building, well preserved. The historic aspect does not interfere with the hotel experience. Our room was both beautiful and comfortable, and the breakfast (not included in the room price) was very good. So the origins of the building are it was built as the Headquarters for Northwest Mutual Life back in the 1860s. High ceilings and open courtyard which rises 5 stories to a glassed in canopy. Breakfast buffet is typical and made to order eggs, etc. are well done. Only negative was the coffee was pretty weak and watery. In room Keurg coffee makers are a bit better. Certainly one of the better places to stay for the money in MKE.
