This hotel has great retro-modern decor, blending perfectly with the eclectic neighborhood of shops and restaurants. Enjoyed the little extras like snacks and coffee in the lobby, convenient parking. In-room A/C was a little loud, but room was lovely and furnishings appeared brand-new. The included breakfast had a good selection and was a great start to our day of walking around the neighborhood.

Very nice hotel. Location is great for lots of activities. Nice breakfast w/hot and cold options. Parking in structure is $12. Rooms are a bit small. Biggest complaint: left key cards in hotel upon checkout, then found out on way out that we needed them to exit structure. Frustrating way to end trip.

I was skeptical of staying at a Hampton inn but it was the only hotel that had availability. I was really impressed with everything about this hotel. Great updated look. Secure, everything you'd find in a more expensive hotel.

You can easily walk to UW campus or State St. The staff is so friendly, they gave our kids a toy at check in. The decor is great. The pool has kids toys, which I never see anywhere else. A great restaurant named Bassett Street Brunch Club is attached to the lobby.

Hotel was extremely clean, modern, and staff were helpful, polite, efficient. The price was a little high but the location was excellent for my business meeting. It was my first time in this hotel and I will stay again if need to travel to the same city (Madison).

We enjoyed this hotel, from the friendly and helpful front desk staff, to the clean, spacious, king room. Parking cost $12.00, which added to the already high cost and I had trouble getting steady wifi connection also. Overall, I say a nice place to stay.

We loved this hotel from the moment we walked in! The staff was very friendly and all areas of the hotel were modern/updated and clean. We were given an accessible king junior suite so it had a little more room than a normal room. It was very clean and spacious with lots of storage and amenities. One minor issue is there was no fan in the bathroom so it was quite steamy after a shower. However this wouldn't stop us from staying again. The free breakfast has a nice variety of hot & cold ite... This is hands down the best Hampton Inn I have stayed in. So in the past 6 months I have stayed 45 nights in a hotel and this one ranks near the top compared with Vegas hotels, Hilton's, Embassy Suites, Marriott, etc... The rooms (we had 2) were clean spacious and up to date. The kids loved the pool not big but very nice. The fitness center equipment all worked and was in good condition unlike many hotels. This was a step up from the normal Hampton Inn breakfast too. I will stay here again... Read more

Last few hotels were rubbish (Not Hilton Hotels) So it was a delight to find we had no complaints. All clean, tidy spacious comfortable rooms. Good clothes hanging space and our delux room had a good fridge and kitchen space with microwave. Typical American bath / shower with odd tap but new and functional. Wifi was a little jumpy and kept having to log on. However the complimentary level was fast enough for general use. Breakfast was a cut above the average American offer, but not gourmet. Staf... This is a great hotel for the money right in the heart of the UW campus with easy access to the Captiol. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Hotel felt brand new, though it's been open for 2+ years. Staff is friendly and attentive. Both the fitness center and the morning breakfast are the best that I have had at any Hampton, or any other hotel like it. Parking is not free, but reasonable, and it's worth it to have a spot in this busy area of Madison. I'll definitely be back!

A very clean, modern, quiet place to rest a tired body. Room was large and comfortable. There is a $12 parking charge and a weird parking garage with tight spaces to navigate. But direct, secure access to the hotel elevator made it nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had been looking for a place to always go back to when traveling through the area, which we do at least 2-3 times per year. We have found it! To us it is worth the extra money to have everything we want and the rooms are perfect for our family. Also, we walked to get pizza at midnight, and Starbucks in the morning. Went on a college visit to see University of Wisconsin and this place was perfect. It was walking distance from both U of W and the capital. It was clean and the staff was friendly. We stayed 2 nights and never moved the car. I will say that its a bummer you get charged $12 a night for parking. That and the mediocre breakfast keep it from being 5 stars. We had an enjoyable stay. The front desk staff were very helpful with a suggestion for a restaurant and even menu items that they enjoyed. We would stay again if we were in the area. The only bad part is that you have to pay to park while staying at the hotel, not a lot but seemed like we should be able to park one car for free.

This hotel is on the east side of the U of W campus. Many restaurants nearby, state street a 5 minute walk. the room I had was huge, well maintained. Clean and comfy. Breakfast was one of the best I have had at a Hampton property. Very nice sized work out area. Staff was quite pleasant. be aware there is a huge amount of traffic around the hotel during the morning and evening rush hours. Overall a great place to stay.

This is a very convenient location for a visit to downtown Madison. It's a short walk to the Capitol and for the wonderful Saturday farmers market. Lots of great restaurants are nearby and within walking distance. The front desk staff provided detailed instructions on where to find restaurants and the quickest ways to walk to them. The lobby has a very nice seating area to meet with friends. The breakfast was well stocked and had a large variety of items including fresh fruit, prepared oatmeal, ... Read more

This did not seem at all like a hotel chain - I felt like I was staying at a lovely, boutique hotel. (And, believe me, I'm picky about hotels). The hotel was spotless and I really liked the interior colors, decor, artwork, and common spaces. It felt very cheery and sort of gallery-like. The location is perfect for exploring downtown/State St area. My family of 4 stayed in a corner whirlpool king suite. It was spacious, beautifully-decorated and well-appointed (with a kitchenette), and had a huuu... Read more

We stayed here for a game and the location could not be better. There is also a complimentary breakfast and an extremely friendly staff. One of the best things is the Basset Street Brunch Club attached to the restaurant. It opens at 8am and serves amazing breakfast and even bloody mary's and beer if you want to start tailgating early.

It is secure(you have to get buzzed in when you walk up to the front doors), the lobby is bright and modern and clean, there were always 2-3 people at the front desk(friendly, very helpful), there were 3 elevators and so you didn't have to wait long to go to your room, the room was huge and modern(we had a jr king suite),the door to the room is solid(i.e. no noise travels from the hallway), excellent king sized... Fantastic hotel in great location. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room/suite is huge and clean. The bath towels were a bit small and rough. As an honor guest I usually get free bottle of water when I arrive, I guess they forgot. Other than that the stay was great.

We stayed for the weekend, came for a wedding. Service was welcoming, helpful. I checked in online, was able to choose our room which was a large corner room away from the elevator. No street noise in spite of being in the midst of a college town. Plentiful breakfast, easy parking. Great location to walk to state house, farmers market, etc. Recommended.

The hotel was wonderful. The staff was fantastic and friendly and helpful (shoutout to both Robert and Spencer). We enjoyed the room, and we especially enjoyed the location which was just between downtown and campus. Stayed at this Hampton Inn with my 16 year old son for a visit with family in Madison as well as a UW college tour. We used the convenient eCheck-in option which allowed us to select our room ahead of time and gave us upgraded wifi.
