This was a convenient place to stay as we drove through West Virginia, although it was a little confusing to find when we got off the highway -- we could see it but couldn't drive straight to it because of one-way roads. The room was fine, although our window blinds (and the window blinds of the person next door) were very noisy -- I only mention this because the person in the next room got up much earlier than us and their noisy blinds woke us up! Also, I was disappointed that the the tread... Read more

The Hampton Inn in downtown Charleston feels old and is kind of dark. It is, otherwise, a good place to stay. My room was clean and quiet. The staff at the hotel is friendly. This Hampton offers a shuttle service to and from local shopping and eating areas and to and from the airport. That is very useful for someone who is finished driving for the day. The driver took me to a good local restaurant and picked me up within five minutes of my calling him back after dinner. Getting to the ho... Read more

We stayed just one night on our way to Kentucky, and it was a very nice and clean location, with pleasant staff. It's a bit hard to figure out how to get here from the highway, and be sure to know that this is the Downtown location, not Southridge. But getting back to I-64 is a breeze. Comfortable bed. Very helpful shuttle van service that takes you anywhere in Charleston after you check in, so you can just park for free in their lot and go to the capitol complex, restaurants, the mall, etc.

Loved, loved, loved that all the bedding is washed for each guest. The pillows and mattress is way better than home. Truly the best I ever slept in. Told my room mate that I wanted either to move into the hotel or put the bed in my suitcase. Since neither was possible, I will stay at Hampton every chance I get. I did dicker for the bill and got an AARP discount, so the price was not bad either.

We stayed only one night and found Charleston an interesting if disappointing city. The surrounding area is stunning with its mountain views but Charleston is a small but friendly city with an almost deserted feeling to the downtown area. The Hampton Inn Downtown Charleston is a great place to stay near the downtown attractions of Charleston. A cousin and I recently stayed there while researching our family history at the West Virginia Archives. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one. This property is in the midst of refreshing it's hallways, and so it's a mess! But, this is a temporary inconvenience. The larger issue is the front desk personnel are not friendly at all! Asking for something as simple as to borrow a pair of scissors (and use them promptly at the front desk) is met with, "We don't have any." Located close to downtown Charleston sights and shopping and at the junction of Interstates 68/77/79 for convenience, this Hampton Inn should be highly recommended. But a number of factors (some within and some beyond their control) cause me to give the property a somewhat lower grade than I might otherwise have done. There was quite a bit of repair going on in the lobby and first floor hallway during our stay. Given that the damage may have been caused by the recent tragic flooding going on in ... Read more

Right off the interstate, this hotel is in walking distance to the downtown. They also offer a free shuttle as well as a free breakfast. The best part of the stay was the friendly and outgoing staff. While visiting, ask to be dropped off at the WV Capitol.

Location - right in the heart of things. Can walk to big Mall but on busy street just need to be careful & alert. Hotel was clean & everything was nice in our room. Didn't hear outside noise. Beds were comfortable.

We found this hotel to be comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms seemed to be recently updated. There was a variety of foods at the Continental Breakfast. Conveniently located near (1 and 1/2 blocks) Charleston WV Civic Center. We would definitely recommend.

The staff was wonderful and the hotel was beautiful! The women checking me in was so attentive, cheerful and friendly! The breakfast staff the next day made sure to ask about my stay and make sure it was a great one, the best part was that they were getting ready to leave for the day but had stopped by the front desk. Rooms were clean, I work for a Hampton inn and they were up to the brand standards! Every staff member I came across was so friendly! Keep up the great work guys!

Very comfortable, clean , quiet place to stay. Good location right off the Interstate. Nice comfortable Breakfast area. I really don't appreciate that you need Two Hundred characters to submit a review when I can tell you in less time that I enjoyed my stay.

The Hampton Inn Downtown Charleston West Virginia, a great place to stay! Excellent staff, great rooms (beds, slept like a baby) and breakfast (the young lady there was very attentive). Parking is free and it??s right near the center of everything. The Civic Center, the Mall, and downtown area. You can walk to Capitol Street. It??s easy to get on and off the highway going to and from the airport. I??ve stayed there on several occasions.

Excellent. Clean. Breakfast okay. Very nice staff. Shuttle available. Only negative was slow internet. Nice desk to work at. HVAC unit was a little load. Reasonable price considering it's within walking distance to Charleston Civic Center. I would stay there again. Paid $125 per night.

Hotel was nice; had a free shuttle to downtown if needed. Breakfast was good. Front desk attendant was very helpful. The shuttle was a nice option since it is not really within walking distance of the downtown restaurants. I would definitely stay here again.

We chose the Hampton Inn Downtown because of its closeness to our route - I64. The desk staff was super helpful in getting the best rate for us. The room was very clean and the heating/ac was very easy to control. The location is very near the downtown mall which has several dinning venues that are sure to provide something for everyone

Free breakfast, walking distance to downtown and river front. Free Shuttle service and friendly driver to help get you around the city. He made suggestions based on my likes and took me to different areas each night. He remembered me from my previous trip and knew which restaurants I had already gone to.

This Hampton Inn is poorly located. Near Interstate, and room I was placed in resulted in highway noise throughout almost the entire evening. Room was clear, by no means spacious. The biggest problem was the shower water pressure. The complimentary breakfast was varied, but the biscuits and gravy on Sunday morning were woefully inadequate. Easy walking distance to Mall and then another jaunt to interesting downtown Capitol Street.

Great experience every time I am in Charleston! The staff provide friendly service, the rooms are clean (even in the corners) and smell fresh. The complimentary shuttle service and free parking make it a real bargain to agency budgets as well as your wallet. The breakfast has a variety of choices and is well-stocked. This is my "go to" place whenever I'm in town.

A thanks to the staff for making my single night stay memorable. The shuttle service to/from local restaurants meant that I tried something different and also local. The bedding, room layout and complimentary breakfast was up to Hampton's excellent standards.

An enjoyable overnight stay. Great staff, clean, well appointed rooms, great location near restaurants & Charlestowne Center Mall. Will definitely return & recommend to friends & family. A nice halfway point on our way to Detroit. Friendly, helpful staff! Good breakfast after a restful sleep. I wish we had queen beds because we're a bit too tall (6'+) for full size!

We stay in Hampton inns because they are supposed to be a great place to spend a night or two while traveling. This hotel in Charleston , West Virginia is the exception. The phone in the room did not work. There was no things to do packet. A large black man with a missing tooth and no identification or uniform knocked on the door and wanted to come in and fix the phone. Of course I didn't let him. At breakfast which was supposed to go until 10:00, at 9:30, there were no eggs, yogurt, bananas, ... Read more

We were only there a few hours... got in around 1:30 a.m., and we left at around 10 a.m. The check-in clerk was very nice and got us situated fairly quickly. The breakfast was also pretty good. The waffles were outstanding. The sausage links were OK... The eggs were hot and there were three kinds of juices.

I absolutely loved staying there. It was right at the on and off amp from the interstate but at the tame time it had a nice pretty setting tucked away. It was like the gateway to Charleston. My next trip I will venture and see more of Charleston. The hotel had all amenities I needed. It had vary nice staff. Everything was immaculate. I loved the décor of my room. The lobby had a warm fireplace and wonderful seating arrangements and a very big wonderful table to sit at or eat while you coul... Read more
