We spent two nights here while visiting colleges in Portland, Tacoma and Seattle. It's exactly what you want for a home base -- very clean, comfortable beds, wifi, fridge, and pleasant employees. Good price too. The neighborhood is commercial (strip malls), so I don't give it five stars because it isn't inviting for walking to a restaurant, but there are several chain restaurants in close driving distance and better eating establishments slightly further away. The drive to the Tacoma waterfront ... Read more

Pros: clean room, yummy cookies, hot breakfast. It's near 2-3 places to eat. Cons: ac was acting up all night so it was hot in the room. Unfortunately it was loud and I think the room next to us, the alarm was going off for a good hour. Parking is tight and we saw a lot of people that looked sketchy walking around. Staff we ran into was friendly Deff check out Elmers for food, very good!! We didn't use the pool this time.

I was greeted with a smile along with thanks for my loyalty and status. I was given a room upgrade and check in was quick and easy. I will for sure be staying here at this hotel vs. the other options in Tacoma from now on. The service is a big deal when you travel often. When the work day is done all you want is to be greeted and treated kind. Pleasant stay and thanks to the staff for being so happy and eager to serve the customer!

I needed a hotel close to JBLM. It is clean, and the staff is very pleasant, but it is loud. Sound carries from outside the hotel and from the hallways. I haven't had a decent night sleep yet. The doors slam down the hallways. The people in the parking lot are loud. The air conditioner doesn't have a constant fan setting to drown out the noise. I would have switched hotels if American Express travel hadn't imposed an extra fee to change reservations.

Friendly service at check-in and check-out. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Breakfast choices were plenty. Only issue would be parking since it is amidst other businesses (I did take last spot). Would stay again.

We booked a deluxe room with booking.com. Upon arrival they did not have the room that we requested. The Hotel the tried to put us in a regular Queen room and would not adjusted to the lower rate. We were treated as less than customers due to the fact we booked with a third party. The attitude was "well it's the 3rd parties fault not ours". The girls at the front desk should have given or offered to give us a discount on a "non superior room", so beware of the switch and bait program they have g... Read more

Lied to. I booked my stay for two nights. Bait and switch. I was told a price of &134.00 a night. We go to check in and the second night is $149.00. The front desk gal was rude and short. She could do nothing but hand me the 1800 number. The second day we were left with garbage in our room after housekeeping. The toilet double flushed and floods the entire bathroom floor. Housekeeping came and tried fixing it. It was not plugged but has a suction pressure problem as she was running the water in ... Read more

Watch your credit card statement after staying here!! I had my cc# stolen and so did my my son in-law the only common denominator was our stay at this hotel! I don't use my cc often so this was the only time I have used this card in months. Now both myself and our family is dealing with fraudulent charges. Very upset and a huge hassle!! ???

What a nice little oasis. We were in town visiting family and attending graduations, so we needed a place central enough to all the areas we were going but accessible to the freeway. This hotel fit the bill and then some. First the front desk staff were professional yet welcoming. They were easy to engage and willing to accommodate any needs during your visit. Our room size was more than adequate for two people. It had two queen size beds, a desk an chair, a small fridge/freezer, a microwa... Read more

They have the standard holiday in breakfast. There is a Denny's across the street. There is also a mexican restraunt across the parking lot that has breakfast, lunch and dinner. I went to the BJ's at the Tacoma \mall, and it was good for dinner. Wired and wireless internet.

The room itself was spacious and beautiful. King bed, micro-fridge. Handicap room, adjacent to the breakfast room which in the mornings could be a bit noisy. The worst part of our stay was the transits who frequented this hotel property. On Saturday night we came out to go to dinner and there was a transit in the parking lot with a fifth of whiskey hitting patrons for money. Sunday morning we came out to go to church and two ladies were under the gazebo hanging out. We returned at 5:30pm the lad... Read more

The Holiday Inn Express Tacoma is a well-run establishment located close to I-5. It's strengths are the friendly staff, convenient location and large, open rooms. The outside parking spaces occasionally seemed almost full, but is manageable. The helpful front staff made check-in a pleasant and fast experience. The room was a very good size and seemed clean. The bed was comfortable and the large TV was fine. There was a useful small fridge. I appreciated the ample sink space in the bathroom, al... Read more

As long as you are expecting a budget hotel experience you will be very satisfied with this property. Reception is bright and airy with friendly and helpful staff, and stocked with coffee and fresh cookies! The rooms are spotlessly clean, but are a bit dull and dark due to the colours of the décor and smallish windows. The room is however large and the bed and pillows comfortable , a 40" TV, and air con. The rooms at the back of the hotel are a little noisy due to a petrol station and parking a... Read more

We had a King Bed Suite and were impressed for the very affordable cost. THE CHECK IN - The front desk staff beamed with smiles as I entered the front doors. They were cheerful and more welcoming than I have seen at many hotels costing twice as much. They informed us that not only was breakfast included but also cookies and milk at 7pm. THE PARKING - They have a small parking lot and share it with a strip mall. We saw lots of signage declaring that cars would be towed. Thankfully we did... Read more

Our group of 2 adults and 3 children booked a suite and I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room! The service from check in on, was outstanding. Breakfast had a wide variety of choices; kids loved the pancake machine and we really enjoyed the healthier options. The kids loved the cookies at night and had a great time in the pool. The room was very clean, quiet and the pull out sofa bed was comfortable(most are terrible but this one wasn't). Would definitely return!

So I've been here for 4 days for business and here is my inputs: - Rooms are a good value for the price - at least for me. Business rate of $130. - Rooms furniture a little old, but the rooms (I had 105) are clean and bed was very comfy. - Room I had was quiet and I was across from the soda machine. - Breakfast was well stocked, area kept very clean, and very sufficient for my needs. - There is an indoor pool and an exercise center. - Good access to the I-5 expressway. - My room had both a micr... Location is poor. Parking area is small and somewhat iffy. Friendly check-in. Room was ok. It is a very old property. I would recommend a complete makeover, to make it maintain the brand name. By the way, breakfast was good. Bedsheets and pillows were satisfactory. The towels(which are white), all had dark stains on them. In summation, I would call it fair value for the price.

Manager Alexis is awesome! My party desperately needed a place to stay late at night. We were weary road travelers and couldn't be more in need (slight exaggeration) of lodging. Alexis was cheerful, helpful, and refreshingly accommodating. Secondly, Daniel helped us as Alexis needed to leave. Daniel was helpful and friendly as well. Breakfast was nice, there were several offerings and I filled my tummy sufficiently. Our rooms were clean, the bed was comfy, and we slept well.

The good - the staff was very friendly and the cinnamon rolls were good as usual. The bad - As other people have commented, the parking area was small, spots were tight and the location of the hotel seemed to be in not so great of an area. Also difficult at times to make a left into the hotel since the entrance was immediately beyond an intersection with a traffic light. With traffic stopped in the other direction, we had to wait for cars to let us through to make the left turn. For the women... Read more

I sat down for my morning meeting at the oval office. Everything was going nicely. Until this fateful moment happened, as depicted below. Not only was the tp not close. It wasn't even CLOSE! Seated upon the Ivory throne, I'm presented with a dilemma. I have to shift all of my weight onto one bun and lean in to get a grip on the tp, putting undue stress on the toilet seat, while also practically guaranteeing a bruise on my left cheek. I go to pull the tp, and the rotational friction is so hig... Read more

Spent 3 nights here before checking daughter into college. Never stayed w this brand, but the rooms were sizable, beds were comfy and clean; soap and shampoo were adequate, towels were fine, and they put new bottles of water in the fridge nightly. This was our first time staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Tacoma and it won't be our last! From the warm and friendly reception we received from Danica in the lobby (while accommodating our request for early check in), to the clean, quiet, spacious, and well-appointed room, we were very pleased with our stay. This place has very comfortable rooms and really spacious. They serve warm fresh baked cookies in the evening and they have friendly staff. Best of all is the breakfast. It was a large spread and they had a very sizable variety. Plus they had this instant pancake maker that was totally fun, flavorful, and just plain cool! Hit the button and 2 pancakes are cooked and sent out the side. In small print the pancake maker said "Admit it -- you wish you had one of these at home." And heck yeah I do!!!

I was given a Jacuzzi suite on a late night arrival. The front desk was quite efficient and within minutes I was at the corner room of very good size. The color of the curtain is somehow strange but it does the job well of darkening the room. It could also be the texture and the material of the carpet, it looks quite dirty, especially in a big room. The TV is on a chest making it only possible to view it in the bed. Better staging and an upgrade on the curtain and carpet will instantly give the ... Read more

The hotel was very very clean. The house keeping staff was excellent. Breakfast was well stocked with plenty of options. Our air was either running or it was too hot in the room. It would have been more comfortable if there was a happy medium. Parking was limited and tight! Neighborhood was a little sketchy looking but we didn't have any issues while we were there. Super nice location with friendly staff. This facility has a 24/7 pool/hut tub/work out area. Near JBLM and is great for a weekend getaway or a TDY location. Plenty of good restaurants near by whether you want to get it to go or sit down for a meal. But don't go out for breakfast, they do a great spread.

Very bad management here which has refused to honor travel agency agreement. Since we placed business at this hotel our agency has been attempting to deal with management of this hotel to settle the commission they owe our agency. We have not turned over this matter to collection and will be sending our clients elsewhere and many companies should think twice before booking this HI Express Tacoma
