On our first visit to Winchester, we were very impressed with the accommodations at the George Washington. Our room was small but very well appointed and comfortable. The shower was THE BEST we have ever had in a hotel. Spacious, lots of pressure and good soft water. The bed was excellent and the room was very clean. We shall return.

The George Washington is a completely remodeled, historical hotel located in old town Winchester. It is within walking distance of several restaurants and shops located just two blocks from the pedestrian mall. The room and bathroom were both updated and spacious. The staff was second to none, always smiling and friendly. The price was extremely affordable. So much so that I was shocked at how nice the hotel was for the rate I received. Definitely a must stay if in Winchester.

Absolutely beautiful property but hard to find as it is not clearly marked. Parking was also difficult, so we took valet parking. We had an issue with the internet, but a tech came up and fixed it immediately. The beds were lovely, and the bathroom was too. Nice toiletries. Mini fridge in room. There was a bar/lounge on the property (Half-Note)as well as a restaurant and prices were reasonable There was a Spa on the property as well as a sauna.

Not everyplace is a great place in a great location and it a great value. I found this place to be just that. I prefer to stay in a downtown setting instead of a chain hotel along the highway. If the downtown has any life there tends to be something other then chain restaurants. This location had plenty of good places to eat all within walking distance. I found the room to be very comfortable and clean. The bed was just right. The bathroom large and bright (something my wife would like ... Read more

Winchester, VA is one of those little hidden gems of a town that you need to get to sometime. Great restaurants, shopping, with an old town feel. This hotel fits right in! It's a remodeled old hotel, and they did an awesome job. The rooms are great, everything is clean and modern, but still keeps its old grandeur feel. The restaurant and bar are great, and the location is right in downtown. Would highly recommend a visit to Winchester, and if you go stay at this hotel!

Air conditioning wasn't working in the suite for the bridal party and also wasn't working for the location of the cocktail hour and brunch the following day. Staff checking bride's family in was rude and made excuses instead of offering suggestions for resolution. Staff began cleaning up brunch over an hour early.

We stayed overnight there. It is one of the most charming hotel in Winchester. Its location is central, can walk around to the city's attractions easily in walking distance. The interior design at the lobby and bar is elegant and welcoming. There is a lovely room (chapel) at the welcoming area for wedding ceremony as well. Our room is quiet and nice, clean and also has a good size and has comfortable beds. The quality of the bathroom's amenity is also good. Furthermore, The hotel staffs e.g. f... Read more

Love hotel but a few issues this time. Rooms great. Spa services good. Restaurant not good. After the show in the ballroom, which ended at 9:30 pm, we went straight upstairs and tried to order room service. They said no because they were closed even though they advertise room service until 10 pm. And when we arrived at 3 pm, there was no venue at the hotel open for food. The low rating is due to the horrid mis-handling of a problem. While I'd booked and prepaid for a junior suite, we were given a deluxe room; when I inquired about the situation, the front desk agent blamed Expedia then reluctantly gave us the junior suite; however, a few minutes after we went to the room, she called to inform us that the suite was booked for the next night and we would need to change rooms in the morning. We knew the first time we walked into the marbled and well appointed lobby of this grand old beauty that we were in for a special experience. We really enjoyed the old pictures of people and events at the hotel. Many of these pictures of old can be found throughout the first floor, both in the lobby and elegant bar area. Have stayed at this hotel several times, the last being the fall of 2015. We've always enjoyed the hotel and the very comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Having a drink at the bar was how we relaxed from a long day on the road before going out for dinner. Sometimes we just ate at the bar. Last year the bartender made us Brandy Alexanders going to the kitchen for the nutmeg she didn't have. My point is that this has been a full service bar. Today we decided to try Brandy Alexanders again. Thi... Read more
