The Westgate is located within walking distance of the William and Mary campus and Colonial Williamsburg. We stayed in a suite with a spacious kitchen (no pots and pans?) and whirlpool for two. There is no restaurant on site (breakfast is served if you're on a tour). The decor is over the top colonial, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was huge with a large stall shower and separate toilet room. For a hefty fee, you can bring Fido, but once you do apparently Fido can bark and howl... Read more

Stayed here for one night on a little road trip around Virginia, the Westgate Historic Williamsburg is in a good location and the staff where fantastic, we stayed in one of the cottages which looked great, but inside was a little tired, we still had a good nights sleep and everything was adequate, i probably wouldn't recommend staying as your main holiday destination

We had to check in late and were told our room was in the newly acquired Cottages way in the back of the property. The room was large but needed refurbishing, especially for a place that calls itself a Resort. We had adjoining rooms and could hear the people in the other room snoring away... very unpleasant. Upon awakening we noticed a lot of construction noise and saw that dozens of workers were fast a work at 7:30 in the AM. In addition, we asked the front desk where we could get coffee and ... I had read other reviews and so called the hotel to verify where we were staying. A woman assured me we were in the main building and in the motel-like cottages people complained about. When we arrived, we were placed in a cottage and told they had no idea who I spoke with. You have to drive to these "cottages" past dumpsters and they are old and ugly. We had no coffee, called and still had none the next day. On our second day our room was not cleaned at all and a phone call explained the house... Read more

We decided to stay here since it was AAA recommended and an almost too good to be true price. The room was alright, the beds very comfortable but the bathroom was in rough shape- dated, the tub had trouble draining and the door stopper on the bathroom door dragged against the floor. We also had a room with 2 beds and as such were separated from the main buildings you see in their pictures, we had to drive through the back of a restaurant parking lot to get to our room. The pool was also far enou... Read more

Will never ever stay here again!!!!We had expected to stay in the main building. When we checked-in, we were "updated" from the cottages to the older side building. Cottages are supposed to be very basic and rustic. When assigned to our first room, we opened the door and there were people in there. Had to be assigned a second room. This second room had a toilet pipe that kept humming. We had to constantly flush the toilet to stop the noise.as maintenance didn't fix it. The cleaning products they... Read more

I passed up nicer hotels w the same low rate of $89/night to stay here bc of the high rating (8.2) which was a total mistake. We had 4 adults in a One bedroom villa w a sofa pullout in the main house. Room looked nice upon arriving. Should have been plenty of room however, when I reported the bedroom partition door was completely broken upon arriving, would not shut even halfway, the best the front desk could do was to feign surprise and to send maintenance to repair it. Which never happened. Fo... Read more

We are Westgate owners down in Orlando. But this time, we decide to trade our stay and booked a week at the Williamsburg Westgate. And we have no regrets! Hotel is way smaller than the Lakes & Spa in Florida but, well, the purpose is entirely different! Overall, we had a good stay. The property itself is well taken care of but room was outdated (very outdated), but had everything we needed: small fridge, cooktop, microwave and a sink. Bathroom was good enough (my daughter enjoyed the bath tu... Read more

We stayed in a Colonial room which was one of their cottages. Apparently we weren't lucky enough to get a renovated room. The bed was comfortable and the staff was nice. The room was ok. Very outdated and no sound proofing whatsoever. I don't need to hear every conversation my neighbors have. There was a pool right next to our cottage but it was closed. The bathroom was tiny. I was glad I only paid a sale price for this stay but even then it wasn't worth what we paid.

We have stayed at a lot of hotels in Williamsburg, and unfortunately this establishment was the worst. We booked a double queen cottage through tripadvisor. When we arrived there was no room available for us and we had to wait 45 minutes for them to find us a room that was not what we booked. They ended up giving us 2 double beds which made for a very uncomfortable sleep. We had 2 adults and 3 children. After a long day at water country we were all tired and cranky. There was no tub to bathe the... Read more

We did not have a good experience at this hotel/resort. There were only a few good points, but i will lead with those, because not all aspects of the establishment were terrible. The Good: 1. The bed was comfy and clean. 2. The room had a good A/C unit: very important for Virginia in the Summer. 3. Parking was available. 4. Check out was smooth. The Bad: 1. There was no trash can in the room or bathroom. I cannot fathom why not. We ended up placing trash in a pile on the floor. 2. The toilet d... Read more

You see the beautiful photo but the results were ugly. Our room was dark, dank, and smelled of mildew. Sheets and all were never changed in 3 days; the bed was just made. Old Coffee pot but no coffee. Some items (throw away) left on floor and never picked up. 1 small wastebasket. No ice availability. With the smell and overall dinginess of the room we probably should have left after we walked in but decided since most other places were booked 100% to ride it out. AND our room was so far away... My family has stayed here before a couple years ago. We stayed in the main building where the lobby is and had a great experience. The room was clean, upgraded and everything was great. Fast forward to Summer 2016, our room was in one of the remote cottages. Now I see what the other bad reviews are saying. These rooms are dark, older, outdated and does have an old smell to them. Mosquitoes, moths and bugs are in the room probably because room service leave the door open when cleaning but you'll... Read more

This was our second time staying at the Westgate. The first time we stayed in the main section of the establishment. It was really nice and clean. Unfortunately the second and last stay was horrible. This has been by far the worst Westgate resort I have stayed in to date. First they put us in a cottage that look like something straight out of a horror movie. Then when moved to the main part of the resort (hotel) the shower kept backing up with water. The front desk staff were rude (Darius). Just not the Westgate experience that I'm accustomed to being an owner. There are much better hotels in the area that are up to date for you to choose from. Will never stay here again.

This is by far the worst resort I have yet to stay in. My accommodations were horrible. The colonial guest room I had was so out dated not to mention an odor of mildew. There was no closet in the bedroom. The bathroom was so out dated from the mid 1970‚??s which didn‚??t include a tub. I went to the timeshare and made it a point to tell them how bad my stay was. What was funny about this place is as we drove in, we passed these yellow cottages and my daughter said- "I'm glad we aren't staying there at the murder motel". We pulled in several doors down to a nice hotel front with a fountain and brick balconies. The staff was attentive and checked us in quickly. You are at a time share. We are owners, and enjoy using our place as much as possible. We know and expect our rooms not to be clean daily. However, we always enjoy our spacious rooms, decor, friendliness and extras. Having stayed at other Westgates, this one is smaller, and there is construction. You can see where they are trying to expand. We had a great time, and will stay there again.

No hand towels the first two nights, no bath towels, washcloths, or bath mat the second night. Had to call the front desk and picked them up ourselves. This room was both damp and musty. The bathroom was small and outdated. The bathroom sink spigot has way too much water pressure. The toilet is jammed up to the side of the sink. The bed and TV were fine, but there was no place to hang clothes. It was totally disconnected from the main building and separated by two commercial businesses. On the plus side, it was quiet and the desk staff were efficient.

I want to start by saying that all the people that worked at this resort were very nice and did the best job for what they have to work with. We had a seven day stay here but left after 5 days. Our room was in one of the villas that became part of the hotel when it acquired a run down motel a few years ago. The villas are spacious and the beds are large and very comfortable.
