We booked through hotwire, so didn't know which hotel we were getting until we'd actually booked. When I saw it was a holiday inn I wasn't too happy ... last one I stayed in came straight out if the 1970s. I WAS SO WRONG. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. I really can't fault it at any level.

We spent three nights in a little higher class motel then most nights on the road. The competition in this area, Williamsburg, is pretty steep so this hotel has to put on some class. The rooms are spacious and are well outfitted with furniture and amenities that made our stay very comfortable. Everyone with the hotel was friendly and very accommodating. The location of this hotel is excellent for visiting the Williamsburg Visitor Center and access to the Colonial Parkway. We had an excellent sta... Read more

This hotel was rated #1 on TripAdvisor for good reason! My family (hubby and kids ages 5 and 11) went to Williamsburg over Thanksgiving 2015. The hotel is super clean and modern. We had a suite with a sofa bed and it was very roomy. I am a clean freak so when I say the room was clean, it was really clean! The hotel was quiet, the pool warm and nice, and everyone was friendly and helpful. It was also very quiet at night. It is a very short drive to Colonial Williamsburg and all the attractions. W... My wife and I had a very enjoyable experience at this Holiday Inn. The location is great, less than two miles from the center of the historical area and easily traveled. The room was clean with efficient room service. The restaurant provided a delicious well balanced meal at a very fair price. The staff was friendly with one member, Jan, in particular extremely helpful. She transformed a good experience into an excellent one which led to an extended visit.

The rooms are newly renovated, spacious and comfortable. Nice tub/shower, large fluffy towels and lots of bathroom light. Nice large-screen TV. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially in finding good restaurants. Check-in was a bit slow for our golf group. We had an unfortunate experience with a long, loud party in the hospitality suite on our floor. It went on until after 3 a.m. This was probably not a common occurrence or enough to spoil our stay, but it was annoying at the time.

We made a quick trip to Williamsburg and stayed here two nights. Room - relatively clean but my sheets and pillow cases ad dried on candy on them. Bathroom was clean. Water pressure was fine. Noise level is fine too. The bed wasn't bad and I am admittedly a very picky person when it comes to beds. I've had better and much worse but I did sleep through the night which says something. Free coffee is ok but I think I would rather more timely maid service. We left the room very early to g... Read more

This clean, modern hotel is a short ride (a couple of miles at most) from the colonial center of Williamsburg. Prices are quite reasonable. The hotel has a good restaurant, the Bistro, which is fortunate because there's not a lot of dining choice within walking distance. The buffet breakfast that came with the room offered a decent variety of the standard breakfast fare, and the food was fresh and well-prepared. I recommend dinner at the Bistro, too. The mussels, in particular, were outstanding.... Read more

We booked our family trip 5 months in advance for 3 nights 4 days. We booked a suite but we received a standard room. I spoke with a manager, was told he had nothing else for me. So we spent 2 nights cramped in a standard room. My husband is 6'3 and the boys are 6'1 and are 17 years old. The beds were uncomfortable and some of our towels were dirty. On our last night there we received a suite but no apology. Needless to say we were unhappy and can't wait to get home.

My kids and I were really happy with this hotel, the decor was really attractive, it was easy to find, they loved the pool, and wow! those pillows were awesome!! There were three things that would make this hotel better. 1. Thicker blankets 2. toilet and shower separated from sink (it would have been easier to get out on time) 3. This particular Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites has been newly remodeled with tasteful decor, it is clean and the staff was incredibly helpful. It is also located less than 5 minutes from the visitor/transit center for Historic Williamsburg parking lot to parking lot. It is also on the same road as several of the most receommended restaurants in Williamsburg. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Williamsburg.

The room was modern, as was the entire hotel. The comforter on one of the beds was blood stained, and that is the reason for the 4 out of 5. Other than that everything was very clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Having the pool open to 11 was great for the the kids! Location is close to other food options and attractions. The hotel was new and clean. We had a queen suite so we were able to put the kids to bed and then close the door between the bedroom and the living room which was great. Stayed here with my family for a short vacation to Williamsburg. Their website mentioned they had a facelift in January 2016 and it showed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. Only issues I had was when the cleaning people made up my room they replaced all towels and never gave us new wash clothes so had to call for them. Well , the rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Liked the fact there was a tv in the front room. The bed was firm and very comfortable. The only draw back was the restaurant. Food was not up to par. Needs major improvement. Bar made good drinks and there is a place to sit outside and light up if you need to. We stayed at the Holiday Inn & Suites - Historic Gateway for the first time based on all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel was recently remodeled with stylish & modern amenities. Our room was very spacious and the king size bed was extremely comfortable. Our room had everything we needed including a microwave, mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker. The hotel was close to all the great restaurants & shopping centers in Williamsburg. I would definitely reco... Read more

This is the second Holiday Inn that I have stayed in on this business trip from Australia and this is even worse that the first. Makes me wonder about the holiday inn training program as 2 poor experiences out of 2 stays is not a good strike rate. Checked in on a Friday afternoon only to be told no laundry until Monday morning, offered some quarters to do my own . Front counter service was poor, unresponsive staff who didn't seem too bothered about customer service. Overall a very unimpressive ... Read more

From the time we arrived to the time of checkout everyone was courteous and professional. The breakfast buffet was always hot and fresh. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Williamsburg.

We spent four days at the Holiday Inn Suites. We were exceptionally pleased with almost every aspect of our stay. We also had about 12+ other rooms booked for a wedding and everyone only had positive comments about the hotel. The rooms were clean, adequate and well maintained, given the recently renovations this is what we expected. We had breakfast twice and on both occasions, there was a good selection and the preparation, presentation and wait service were very good and reasonably priced... Read more

We were in town for a weekend soccer tournament and had secured two double rooms for two nights for ourselves and two girls. We ended up taking four girls, and the front desk staff upgraded our second room to an amazing suite and each girl had their own bed. They, and we were amazed. This was truly above and beyond what we had hoped for and made for some really happy soccer players. Thanks so much to the courteous staff and the facility and rooms are excellent.

The staff was excellent. The hotel needs major updates. Very noisy. I guess you do get what you pay for. There are so many hotels in this area that you have plenty to choose from. It is close to shopping, William and Mary, and Merchant's Square. Dinner at Opus 9 was unbelievable.

This was a nice place to stay, although the cleanliness was not quite up to my standards. There was paper on the floor outside our door that never got picked up until I picked it up the second day we were there. The breakfast was very good.
