We bought a nights stay thru a charity auction to benefit Public TV in NY. Check in was easy and the view of the bay at sunset worth the 5 hour drive . Thank you again for donating it to this worthy cause We will be looking forward to bidding on the next one

After reading many reviews, I wasn't surprised about the condition of the hotel. Stuck in the 80s, with the wear and tear to prove it! Although I bet back in the day it was a really nice place. If you are only looking for a safe place to sleep, you will be fine. However, if you are looking for a 'vacation', you may be disappointed. Your first experience will be the parking situation. How can a conference/banquet hall not have enough parking? It was awful. I arrived after dark and almost had... Read more

Stayed 3 nights for a Wedding. The hotel is simply outdated and questionable dirty. The sofa bed was all stained up the kitchenette is sporting a microwave from 1987 and the suites are oddly set up, walking directly into the bedroom area (literally 2ft from the bed). The bathroom was OK, but let me say the hairdryer reminded me of using my father's conair men's hairdryer from the mid-eighties (thumbs down). I didn't mind the old tube TVs in the room, they worked fine, but again behind the times ... Read more

First let me say that when I made my reservation with Jeff it was great. He was very helpful and accommodating. When I checked in I asked Christian for a room on a high floor and he offered to upgrade me to the penthouse for an extra $20 per night, I declined and was told there were no rooms on a higher floor available. My two co-workers who checked in after me (one who was standing beside me and one who only upgraded to a bay front room which I had reserved when she checked in later) were b... Read more

I booked for the tidewater comic con weekend so the drive to the convention center would not be as far. The staff was great super kind and willing to help and answer questions. However the elevaders were very slow, to the point I had joked that they were as slow as mass effect elevadors. The design of the room seemed backwards with the beds being closer to the door and sitting space toward the back with the balcony this made trying to sleep difficult as from that spot we could hear all the doors... Desperately needs updating and cleaning. Dated and dirty. Stay was for two nights over Memorial Day Weekend. We would have checked out after one night, but had previous commitment in VA Beach and other hotels were booked. We booked for two queen beds, but was not available at checkin. Registration advised we received an upgrade. Really!!, they upgraded us with a suite of 1 queen bed and 1 sofa bed. No linens were in room for sofa bed. I don't classify an upgrade when you have less beds than y... Read more

We stayed at this hotel because we were attending a wedding at a nearby yacht club. It was a decent stay, but wouldn't be my first choice if I had more to choose from. The hotel is quite outdated and in very serious need of TLC (torn chairs and couches, stained carpets, etc.), especially for the rate you pay for the rooms. The elevators were also painfully slow each time we needed to use them (we were on the 7th floor). Exercise room is also very outdated and small with old equipment. If you can... Read more

We traveled from Washington, DC to Virginia Beach. The traffic was horrendous. We had a late check in and I reserved a 2 bedroom suite. I was disappointed with the set up and desperately wanted to check out the next day. The layout was not suitable for a couple and teens. Just as I was about to relax and go to bed for the evening, I realized I left my luggage at home. No clothes, suite with the wrong set up for a couple and children, I was distraught. The next day, Christian, Stacy and Tori at t... Read more

More like a Super 8 as far as the rooms/hallways go. Had a king with a large room and nice bay view. Rooms had a very faint odor or some sort. Thankfully only stayed one night. I would suggest a thorough remodeling of this hotel before recommending my friends stay here. Positive note: located on the beach of the Chesapeake bay.

In town for a family wedding. First the good. Hotel location was quite nice. The beach on the bay was great and easy to walk. The hotel layout and ammenities are nice and the room layout good with super views, at least from the fourth floor up. Front desk staff was good. I stayed here years ago visiting family and thought the hotel was nice for the money. Unfortunately the hotel hasn't updated since then. We had two rooms so I can compare. This "resort" and I use the word very loosely was the venue for a conference for work. Upon arrival, we tried to park in the covered deck, but the spaces were so tight, we were fearful of damage. Check in was okay but imagine our surprise when we enter the room and it was filthy. I didn't even want to take off my shoes because the carpet looks like it hasn't been cleaned this year. One of the drawers in the living room area was broken. There was no showerhead and I was afraid to sit on the couch... Read more

FABULOUS PLACE FOR A WEDDING!!! The staff was WONDERFUL in making sure EVERYTHING was PERFECT for their big day!!! I can't be more happy about the event. The room and deck were wonderful with a great view of the beach and bay. The cocktails and food were AWESOME. Everyone is still talking about how FANTASTIC a time they had. Most out of town guests stayed in the suites and enjoyed themselves over the holiday weekend. All the suites saved for the wedding had great views. We are planning a family ... Read more

The rooms are very outdated. For starters, the TVs are not flat screens, not HDTVs, and do not work with modern DVD players. Carpets are almost all stained. Over use of extension cords in many rooms. Doors to the patios are falling apart and do not seal well. There are no service elevators which means you will find employees on the elevators constantly making for long waits at times. The pool is not monitored properly. as a result we observed people parking in the parking lot, using the pool, an... Read more

The rooms are so basic and pretty run down. I killed a big spider and some other bugs in my room. The bed was terrible. The sheets and blanket were like card paper. The staff was not very helpful. We stayed here for a week and enjoyed our stay. We loved the Tradewinds restaurant happy hour for the food. The crab cake sliders are the best. Real crabmeat and the wings are good too. They do offer everything for $5.00 including drinks. The beach was never crowded and the indoor/ outdoor pool was nice as well. The only thing that we didn't care for was the underground parking garage which looked creepy and old. It was used as a workplace for the hotel. The hotel looks a little outdated and the... Read more

Just checked in, and I have to say, this place is dated and gross. Nice view, but horrible dated room. Strange layout too. Nice location. It is apparent the hotel (much like many beach hotels) relies heavily on seasonal business. The rooms were average at best but the setting was a treat to do business. The beach along the Chesapeake was a few steps away from the hotel and the hotel provided easy access to and from the beach. I would consider staying again.

We just ended a two night stay with our three young children. We were highly impressed with the hotel. Very friendly staff. Loved the private beach setting and the beautiful view from our balcony. Clean rooms, but definitely in need of some cosmetic updates. Nothing that affected our stay, though. Secure wifi would be a nice addition, as well. Not much to complain about and we will definitely be returning in the future!

We spent a week at this hotel. It's old with stained carpeting. Rooms are large but strangely configured: You literally run into the double beds as you enter the room. Walls are very thin and doors are constantly slamming loudly (a very family-centric hotel). Since the beds are by the door, it's not unusual to feel part of the hallway conversation. There are no locks to the outside doors so pretty much anyone can come or go to the varying floors. Only one elevator worked. Ice machine on our floo... Read more

I think this hotel is on a downward spiral. The owners/management are oblivious to how maintenance and housekeeping are completing any tasks. Very dirty. Hallways are dark and carpets are ragged and dirty. There is absolutely no attention to comfort and cleanliness whatsoever. After reading the reviews, I really debated staying here. Since Va. Beach was so expensive and we didn't know the area, we decided to try it. We had a special rate for a wedding and most other places would have been about $150 more a night to stay on the water. I have visited this hotel many times over the past few years. Despite an attempt to modernize the property, it remains in disrepair and has many issues regarding amenities, housekeeping, and its rooms. Even the updated repairs seem substandard. The thing it has going for it is the waterfront view of the Chesapeake Bay and its location to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk and attractions.
