Pros are it looks exactly like pics online. The room setup was weird. You walked right into the master bedroom and had to walk thru a small hallway to get to the living room area. Kitchen area was cool had a small refrigerator so there was no room got left overs. Lastly the heating/cooling was off the air conditioner did not cut on in the bed room which made it extremely hot. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean; the only thing was missing was the kitchen supplies (dishes, silver, etc.). We were asked to have a $25.00 deposit against any breakage or theft. I can understand why after seeing the missing supplies in the kitchen. The only thing, you start to question, why kind of hotel is this. Because I have been here several time, I was not offended. However, a "First Time" consumer may see this totally different.

When we first arrived for our girls weekend everything was amazing. The room appeared clean, while unpacking we noticed wet spots on several spots on the carpet. Ignoring this issue thinking maybe it was from them cleaning the floor we proceeded to the beach. Two hours later we rush to our room to get ready for a concert to be created by what smelled like a dead animal. The room smelled atrocious. It was nice to have a stove, and microwave. The room has a fridge but it wold be nice to have one with a freezer. Overall it was a great deal. Wasn't very pleased with this hotel. Needs much upgrading, the bathroom was extra small, and I was not greeted very nicely upon arrival. The woman who checked me in was on the phone when I arrived. She was laughing and having a good time. When she finished her call, her attitude immediately changed. She clearly didn't like her job. My husband and I wanted to sit outside and have a drink by the boardwalk. There was no place to do that in this hotel. That said, the location was good.

Would definitely come again! Loved everything from the receptionist to the room. I just wish that the pool had late night hours for the adult crowds bring that we can't swim in beach water at night :( but other than that everything was amazing! The room was nice and the breakfast as well. Only thing that bothered me was the security harassing me for coming to the room late at night! That was very annoying! But nonetheless it was a great hotel to stay at during vacation.

They did a renovation of this hotel last year I think, and it was noticeable. New furniture in the room. New kitchen appliances. Even the elevators seemed a little bit faster( just a little). The best improvement is the breakfast. Whereas in past years it was just donuts, cereal and hard-boiled eggs, they now have a full breakfast with scrambled eggs, hash-browns, sausage and ham all overseen by the nicest man at the property - Archie the breakfast room manager.

My sister and I arrived on Sept. 14, 2016 and left on Sept. 20. The hotel staff were very helpful with everything that we needed. The free breakfast was delicious. Our suite was fully equipped with microwave, refrigerator and stove. They even had pots and pans and dishes. I took the king sized bed, my sister slept on the comfortable sofa bed. The housekeeping staff were also very accommodating. This was our first stay at the Barclay Towers. The hotel that we usually stay at has become too expens... Read more

Our family stayed at the Barclay Towers in September and it was a perfect time to go, minus the rain. The beach wasn't overcrowded, no lines/waits at restaurants or attractions. The hotel is right on the beach/boardwalk with a full kitchenette, free hot/cold breakfast a pool and friendly staff. Room was clean and well maintained with view/balcony of the beach. Only downside is the new dorm fridges do not have freezers.

We had a very nice visit to the Barclay in September 2016. Our room was modern, clean, and had an excellent view of the ocean. The pool area and spa were very nice. This hotel offers a breakfast buffet in the mornings which was very good and had a lot of options. Staff was alway friendly. I Really can't think of a thing to complain about.

Love the friendliness of the staff from Archie in the breakfast room, to the gals and guys behind the reception lobby desk, to housekeeping (I got a hug on the elevator when one realized we were leaving) to maintenance!!! Breakfast was good last Sept but this year a hot one was added! I am a non-smoker but still think balcony smoking with the door shut should be permitted. Love the location of the hotel. If we return to VA Beach next year, Barclay Towers will be our first choice!!!

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was very clean but a little dated, the only negative aspect was that the wifi was constantly going in and out. The location is great - right on the water!

Very disappointing with housekeeping. No housekeeping for three days. When the desk personnel was asked why no housekeeping for our room, we were told that we had the do not disturb sign on the door. The sign came off at 10:00 am and even though the housekeepers were still on the same floor, they did not return to do housekeeping. Our bed was never made during the week unless we did it. I asked desk personnel about sailing in the area, we were told look over there at the rack of brochures. The ... Read more

I own a timeshare at Barclay and have visited for years -- luckily my week coincides with Neptune Festival! The staff has always been very accommodating and friendly! I also visit during the "off season" and have had very positive experiences any time I stay. The location is great and within walking distance of several restaurants.

Was just looking for a small room with balcony oceanfront and ended up getting a suite at a very reasonable price. Had good indoor pool and hot tub. What I liked least was the workout room which didn't have very good weight lifting system but wasn't really there for that anyway so didn't matter much.

My husband & I stayed here a week in a room labeled their hotel rooms. Our two sisters stayed in a room two doors away, called a condo, through their Time share membership. We also have the same membership. We waited too long to get the same deal we were told. However we found out that not all their Timeshares are being used by a staff person which makes sense since the season is over. We had to pay a higher price than our sisters. Trip was in late September and some restaurants and stores were closed for the season. Would be wise to call ahead to check schedules for a late season trip. Still there was a lot to see and do. Location was great. Small crowds of people during the week. Was there for the beginning of the Neptune Festival and crowds were normal on the boardwalk.

Good value - oceanfront suite with a door to close off the bedroom from the living/kitchen area, a balcony to watch boats and people, helpful and friendly staff, and a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, and oven/stove make it easy to cook. But free breakfast buffet doesn't hurt! Walking and watching folks on the Boardwalk is one of our favorite activities.

Because we are gluten free it is better for us to have a kitchen with a stove so we can prepare our own food. Plus a balcony with view of the beach/ocean. Gym and an indoor pool. Great value hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good pool and jacuzzi area. Rooms were clean, if a little awkwardly laid out. There is a continental breakfast, and it's decent as far as continental breakfasts go. It was nice to have a kitchenette with stove/range, dishes and cutlery, microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator. The balcony and sitting area are nice, but would have preferred to have the bed near the ocean to listen to it while we slept.

Our stay at Barclay Towers was very nice. It is located right on the boardwalk and beach - amazing location away from the King Neptune area. The property is dated and could use some updating, although it was clean. One word of advice: do not stay on the second floor! The property's laundry is on that floor and it is impossible to have any quiet time during the day with the staff taking the laundry back and forth. We would stay again, but not on the second floor.

Place was great...most staff was as well. We had a problem with a night clerk, Marlon, who really just ruined it for us. Very unfriendly, never greeted us, or even smiled. Would just stand and wait til I asked him a question and never gave us anything but a short answer. I always said thank you...even when he didn't tell us one side of the parking garage was free to we paid $20. He ruined our trip...just so hateful looking.

Thanks Nicole for all your help with my reservations and check out!!! However, your front desk clerk really needs some training on customer service, tidiness and professionalism. It appeared she slept in her car with her uniform on. As a customer, the first person we look to for help is the front desk person. She did not overextend herself and appeared to have an attitude. Surely, she needs training or you can do better. I expected better for this place.

In reference to the other reviews saying the staff is unfriendly; my experience was that they aren't the friendliest, especially the older gentlemen that mans the door to the breakfast. Where to start. This hotel does a great job of desperately wanting to be a four start hotel but falls short in every respect. Staff: Weren't annoyed by our presence but not happy to help either. Rooms: Great size. The suite style has plenty of room for stretching out and the ocean view is beautiful.
