Nice location at the end of the pier. Nice staff. Our double bed room , 5th floor , non ocean front, was large and looked O.K. but was unpleasantly musty . The bathroom floor looked dirty, and there were long hairs in the tub and on the bathroom floor. The matresses, were ready to be replaced, extremely soft and the sheets were threadbare. The balcony , advertised as private, was only separated from the next room by waist high bars.

If you go here expecting a five star hotel, not your spot. But if you go here expecting to stay in a clean room on the oceanfront within walking distance of the best adult beverages on the beach at Waterman's, then you won't be disappointed! We decided on a last minute get away, and stayed in a room with a kitchenette. The AC wasn't cool enough, but this little gem had so much charm we didn't care. Would TOTALLY do this again!

Didn't know what to except but was pleasantly surprised with our room. It is at the quiet end of the beach which we liked. The room was huge as was the balcony and very clean. Great view from the 6th floor. Not a big issue but the toilet paper roll had just enough left for one use(they did have a reserve roll available) but you would think the housekeeper would just put a new roll on. The toilet paper was so thin you could see through it, we ended up going to the store and buying our own. On... Read more

We got a top-floor room with a heart-shaped jet-tub for two! To our surprise we also had a mini kitchenette with a sink and cabinets and even utensils and plates to use already there for us! the table to eat on is a little small but it was fine for us. the room and bathroom were very clean and the staff was very friendly! the windows for the ocean view are over the tub so u can relax and look out at the same time! these rooms also have a smaller balcony than some others because the tub takes s... The staff was very friendly and nice. The service staff were nice and warm. The service was also prompt. The room's were very spacious and clean. The elevators were always prompt as well as clean. The pool was very clean and the area around the pool. This hotel is great for people who are on a budget. We would stay again. We would recommend this hotel. The negative side is the bedspread was antiquated and the fixtures in the bathroom were broken and needed replacing. Overall stay was pleasant a... Read more

The hotel is on the end of the beach and very quiet and the staff very friendly , even though we did an unexpected visitor throwing stones at our front door and when I opened she did looked surprised, "opps wrong room"! We found some guests not following the no smoking policy on more than one occasion, once at the pool and another on the balcony above not the hotel's fault for non compliant guest. The room was very clean and housekeeping does a good job in keeping that way, our sheets were chan... Read more

This property is at the southern end of the boardwalk with beautiful views of the beach, boardwalk and the Rudee Inlet, with plenty of boat traffic to keep one entertained. This is not a fancy hotel by any means, but for the price, it can't be beat. The views, the quiet location and the walking distance proximity to restaurants, shops and attractions was pleasant. On the down side, the rooms were a bit dated and the bed linens were not high quality, but this would not stop me from staying the... Read more

Stayed the Schooner Inn for one night with late check-in around midnight. Was no problem for a late check-in staff was very nice and quick to get me to my room. There was a lot of parking just need to put the parking pass in vehicle. The room was large with two beds, dining area for four, kitchenette with two burner stove, microwave, small refrigerator, sink with the all the dishes, pots, pans etc so you have everything you need. It had a small bathroom. Great balcony overlooking the beach,... Read more

This hotel is not a 5 star resort with a restaurant and a bar, but it does have a pool and what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in cost. By far one of the cheaper options on the boardwalk, the majority of the rooms face the ocean and can be had as low as $80/night during the off-season. There's no noticeable features that separate it from any other standard hotel, but you do get a clean room, with clean beds, and clean towels. If you just want a place to sleep with the door open liste... Read more

If you want to be on the beach and in the thick of everything in VA Beach, this isn't the place. If you like more quiet and a less crowded beach this is it. Not swanky by any means, it is clean and comfortable. The hot tubs are a nice feature, but I would probably in hindsight trade the hot tub for a larger terrace. If you want to go up where the action is there is a trolley service that gets you up and down Atlantic Ave. for $4 a day or $2 a trip. The staff were very helpful and I have no c... Read more

A simple hotel, but every room has a balcony, fridge and microwave. It's right on the beach, which is very convenient and it's close to the Rudi Tours. My only complaint was once they didn't change the sheets or make the bed - they just threw the comforter over. I would have liked to have fresh sheets, but overall very good! Especially for the price.

We stayed at the Schooner the week of June 13th. Now is this the fanciest hotel, no but it was very clean and had one of the best staff I have encountered. They were super helpful and friendly. Anytime we needed anything the housekeeping staff was right there, There rooms was very spacious and clean. We asked for adjoining rooms and we got them. I have been staying in Va Beach for several years and I would definitely stay here again.

The location was nice because we had a view of the inlet with all the fishing boats going out in the morning and a balcony to watch from..The room ,not so good. There was a big hold in the ceiling with the pipes exposed(is this even legal?)There was mold in the bathroom ceiling, there was no closet, just a rack hanging on the wall.bathroom was small and everything was outdated with burn stains from cigarettes on the very small sink. Now if I paid $60 for this room ,It would be my own fault, but I pai... If you are like our family and you want to have a great vacation on a budget this is the place! The rooms are not fancy but just what you need. We got a suite on the 6th floor (the highest floor) and the view from the balcony was awesome! The suites that have the hot tub do not have a stove top and they have only half the balcony room. plus the hot tub only holds 2 and it only has a table for seating for 2. so the suite with the stovetop was a way better option for us. My friend and I drove to Virginia beach for a few days with excitement and anticipation of a fabulous time. Upon arriving to the Inn several alarms went off... 1. Other guests at the Inn parked their cars in two spots with little regard for guests arriving. 2. The Inn has two elevators, with no air conditioning and guests wait in line to use the elevator, imagine that! 3. Once inside the room, I pull back the sheets to inspect the mattress (had a hunch it would be further bad news) and bingo the... Read more

Room was booked in Feb for a July arrival. We drove from Long Island, NY to Virginia Beach, 7 hrs trip. We arrived at the hotel, sorry, MOTEL at 10:30a. We knew we were extremely early, but we 'checked in'. The lady who 'helped' us gave us our parking pass, told us where the changing room was and told us to call her at 3p and she'll see if there's a room available. I travel enough to know that rooms are usually available a little bit earlier than the 4p check in. Being that we told her we ... Read more

Schooner Inn is at one end of Virginia Beach's beachside commercial street and offers ocean views, with a balcony. The kitchenette feature is good, particularly for those with families. There is free parking for guests. We had a good stay. The only downside for me was the price - after taxes and fees (totally just over 14%) were added and after converting Canadian dollars to US dollars, the hotel bill was too high for what we got. Because the taxes and fees were not included in the price up fron... Read more

The Schooner Inn is a great hotel. It's an older hotel located at the very end of the beach on the south side. Right next to Rudee Inlet. Quite often when you see pictures of hotel rooms they are never quite the same when you get there....this us not the case here. The sunrises from the balcony were absolutely breathtaking! We visited the Scooner for three nights as part of a family trip mixed with business. The Schooner is an older hotel with a few modern upgrades so you get the feeling you are going into an updated hotel but really it's just a cute lobby and very plain rooms salvaged from another Era. I don't mean that as a negative it's just if you are looking or expecting fancy upgraded rooms, then you will ne disappointed. I wanted to surprise my parents and pay for their weekend getaway. According to the hotel they have no way to accommodate that request shy of you showing up at the hotel for check-in and providing a credit card and valid id. Hope my parents enjoy the visit, but I am sure that I will never stay at a facility that claims to be in the hospitality industry, but can't accommodate a simple request in this technologically advanced age.
