Upon our arrival, we were greeted by two front desk attendants who were pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. They offered information about local restaurants and pharmacies for some necessary items we had forgotten but they did not have available. The front desk staff are the ONLY reason I am able to give this hotel a poor rating instead of a terrible rating. Let's discuss the room. The view was the high point. Everything else was an utter failure. The bathroom was cramped and not thoroughly ... Read more

First visit to Virginia beach. Was here for business. This property is one of 2 Courtyards on the beach and less than a mile from each other. The one further up the beach is in the middle of the party area and this location is further down and great for families. Nice and quiet. There are 2 Naval Air Stations near by and you will for sure see the Navy's F/A Hornet fighter jets flying right over the hotel. What a cool deal. This property has a much larger Bistro than others due to the size of t... Read more

All rooms face the oceanfront and boardwalk, so you'll have a great view of everything. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I had a room at the end of the hall, which was quiet. Staff is very accommodating and quick to assist with any request. Pool is larger and nicer looking than neighboring hotels. Highly recommend.

The good, the view of the ocean is amazing. I've stayed at this hotel before in a suite. Unfortunately I assumed all their rooms were suites (couch, fridge, microwave, separate from the beds). To my disappointment they arent. Our room was small. It happened to be a wheelchair accessible room. The bathroom was larger with hand rails in the shower. Our toilet was clogged the first night after one use. The staff had to use a plunger. We weren't offered a discount or complimentary breakfas... Read more

We stayed in this oceanfront hotel last week. As the weather is still pretty cool and we were there on the weekdays, the area is kind of quiet and there were not a lot of traffic. Our room offers a great view of the ocean and it had a jacuzzi which we did not get a chance to try it out. This hotel has both an indoor pool and an outdoor one. Unfortunately, the outdoor pool won't be opened until after Memorial Day even though the water was already filled. The restaurant at this hotel is not very ... Read more

Third time at this hotel. The first time, 15 or so years ago, it was new and great. Second visit, Ok. This trip, rooms are really worn. After asking to get a better room we were told a complete refresh is coming in Nov. - our luck. We were moved by the staff who where very nice and the room was better. Location is very nice and facilities are very good but in need of a room refresh. Lastly, after dinner and a walk on the boardwalk we stopped at the "bar" at the Courtyard for a glass of wine t... My boyfriend and I went away for a little weekend getaways. The hotel was beautiful. We stayed in the corner suite and it was the perfect size. The patio overseeing the beach was lovely and had an amazing view. I wish we went a little later to have better weather but we had one good day. The only downside of the hotel was that there was no room service. We had one morning we wanted breakfast in bed but we couldn't do that we had to go out to get something to eat.

This is my second stay at the Courtyard north. It seems to me and my wife that the place needs to be updated most of the furnishings are out of date and used pretty good. The couch just had dirty stains not just here and there but all over the cushions were not even able to rebound after getting up. There were holes in the couch and in the carpet. But the place has a real nice outdoor pool and the lounge area in the lobby is very nice. I wish they would carry the nice lobby area to match the roo... Read more

Our room was clean, well-lit and comfortable; sufficient space for two people. The property itself was well maintained and hotel was close to beach, restaurants, shopping, Staff was wonderfully attentive, includes maintenance, housekeeping and front desk personnel; nice little buffet and restaurant area; pool and whirlpool available inside and outside. Fitness Center had very little equipment and needs to add more; children should be more restricted from whirlpool. Too small balcony

We called when we were outside of town to try and book a room but even though she knew we were in town, the front desk associate transferred us to the 800 reservations line. I then hung up the phone and waited until we arrived at the hotel to find out if they had availability. This hotel has a general appearance of not being maintained. Very disappointing because it has such potential. Great location! Windows were dirty, trash in the hallway and pool areas. Used towels left laying on the floor ... Read more

I attended a conference in Virginia Beach and had the opportunity to stay at the Courtyard VA Beach Oceanfront in June 2016. The registration desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We always stay at Marriott properties because of the consistency - we know what to expect and when we get there it is like a 2nd home. This property is in need of an update - bad. The room we were booked in smelled so bad we talked to the housekeeper and she stated it was the cleaning products. We went out and did not get back until really late - it still stunk, so we slept with the slider open. The bed was older and worn out, carpet and chair stained - etc... We stayed at this Courtyard because of it's location at the north end, quieter and a more family friendly part of Virginia Beach. Marriotts are generally very nice. The staff was very helpful, and had the tech guy come to our room and review the internet connection. Apparently only some rooms on each floor have private internet - the ability to use a cord instead of wifi. We got a corner room because the online photos showed 2 sets of corner windows, however that is only with a king bed, n... Read more

Just left our vacation and must say the hotel was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly... Cons were the hotel pool was a bit chilly but it was hot so not so bad... Also the balcony was a bit small .. The restaurants on this end of the boardwalk were a bit expensive and not a lot of variety the other end definitely had more. I must say the beach at this end was less busy so that was great! All in all nice trip and hotel.

Carpet is dirty and smells bad. Sofa is dirty. Changed rooms but not much better. The staff has given up only using the excuse that they need renovating. Great service but no excuse for not being clean. We are Marriot vacation club owners and stay at Marriot resorts globally. They should benchmark the Courtyard in D├╝sseldorf. This one is unfortunately not up to standard.

The room was ocean front with a king bed. Room included a balcony, small refrigerator and a couch. Very clean room and the staff was excellent. Had a small issue with a slow drain and they fixed it immediately. The staff in the small restaurant/bar was excellent and very attentive. On the other hand, lighting in the shower/bath could use some improvement. Also, tv reception was poor but then we were at the beach so not a major deal. Overall, a very nice hotel and I would stay here again.

The carpet has stains every where, smells, even the towels, filthy AC units, hoping I don't go home sick. They offered to move us, but all the units are nasty. This hotel was very nice to stay at and I would definitely come back again and already planning to! The bartender, Paul from the outdoor pool area is the best! The bathroom/shower is a bit dated and the bed is a little bit uncomfortable. Let me say that this is a great location for families, I traveled with two toddlers and not being right at the crowds was the best decision i made, they have two pools, the outdoor one had a water slide, water falls and its kid friendly, only going up to 5ft. There's a outdoor bar that serves appetizers as well. The indoor pool looked a little dirty but it was smaller and easier to keep an eye on your kids, I didn't like that it wasn't 24 hours.
