I have stayed here on several occasions while in the Norfolk/VA Beach area on business. The staff is always friendly and rooms are very clean. The location is great if you need to be close to the Interstate but there really aren't many restaurants close by that you can visit on foot. This is an older Courtyard and the management is trying hard to update and make things better.

This place is one to stay if there is nothing else available by Marriot. The entrance is not really secure, I got in entrance #2 without swiping my key. Not the cleanest entrance and room was dusty. The best thing is the cafe at the lobby, they serve starbucks so it is an easy grab and go. I only stay one night for bussiness and switch to the Springhill Suites as it is cleaner and felt safer. Will not return.

Stayed here one nigh on business. Better choices available. PROS: Good location, easy to get to. $15 (approx) Uber fare with some traffic. Restaurant and sundry store on site Starbucks coffee for 'grab and go' In room lighting is not awful Water pressure is good Plenty of hot water and got hot very quickly Soft towels Firm mattress, but not too firm HVAC worked well and was quiet No real room to room noise transmission Nice HD television but bad channel lineup (mostly ESPN) CONS: Not super cl... Stayed here the night before thanksgiving. Excellent staff. Priced right. The gentleman who checked us in helped us with our luggage. BIstro was very accommodating, food, drinks, breakfast were great! Everyone was very welcoming, kind and accommodating. Room was large and comfortable. Parking was convenient and free. It will be our go-to hotel for all of our passing through Norfolk. We stayed at another hotel in downtown Norfolk the year before that was not nearly as nice.

The hotel is not clean, room with a king bed smelled like a pet has been in the room. A noise from the bathroom did not let us have a sleep at all. We asked to change our room as we get different messages from staff and the manager, totally; staff tells you "we do have two queen beds" manager tells you the opposite. Our stay was total nightmare. Never coming back to CY anymore. I had much better experience at western inn, that's for sure.

I was supposed to stay here for a business trip, after trying 2 rooms I had to check out. The room on the first floor they gave me just reeked of mold/mildew, with an attempt to cover it up with bleach. My eyes were watering, throat was scratchy and nose running. Asked for a room on a higher floor. A little better, but not much. Was I supposed to be alarmed that there were 2 guards in the lobby? The street this hotel was on was so dark. I checked out and went to the Westin. This hotel needs to b... Read more

As with most Courtyards the hotel this was very good, room clean and tidy, everything you would want. Our arrival wasn't the best we have ever had, we had to wait ages to be seen, two members of staff were behind the desk, one dealing with another person checking in, the other one was on the phone dealing with something which probably would have been better dealt with away from the desk. After quite a while the person on the phone called a gentleman from the back office to deal with us, he arr... Read more

The outside looks like an older hotel which surprised me when I found out this is actually A Courtyard by Marriott hotel, but the sign confirmed it. Check in was smooth but I had to remind the clerk that it is prepaid (according to my reservation) and the credit card required was only for incidentals. The lobby is clean and remodeled but the room is more in line with perhaps a cheaper hotel. However I should mention is was clean and functional...I somehow expected a more modern place for the $7... Two of us stayed here three nights. The rooms were clean and the furnishing not too worn. They include a free breakfast that my friend had each day and he pronounced it the best free breakfast that he's ever had at a hotel. They cooked to order eggs and such. Very nice. I just like my morning coffee and they had a Starbucks kiosk - not a full-on Starbucks, but my skim latte was available right in the lobby. No views to speak of, this is not near the beach but if the location works for you,... Read more

Stayed here overnight after attending a concert at the Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach. Good location. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet. We had breakfast in the cafe which was not included in our stay. The French toast was the favorite of the meals ordered in our group. The breakfast sandwich was ok, the eggs didn't seem freshly made. Next time we stay here probably seek our breakfast elsewhere.

We stayed at the Courtyard recently and it was adequate for our purpose of visiting family. The room was a little small and the decor/bed wasn't fantastic but it was clean and the girls kept it clean every day. There is a small, secluded pool in the center courtyard which was great for a quick dip. Not suitable for the serious swimmer however. There is an on-site Starbucks which stays open all day to make up for the poor in-room coffee/tea facilities. A good positive was the free wi-fi, which wa... Read more

We stayed here when my son returned from his deployment with the Navy. The hotel is clean and quiet. It's basic, in that the rooms are sufficient for a good night's sleep...just don't expect anything fancy. If you want to take a quick dip, stay in a first floor room facing the courtyard - you can step right out of your room into the pool area, which is pretty convenient. The best part of the hotel is the staff. Everyone from the front desk to housekeeping to the girls working at the small cafe, ... Read more

It's a nice hotel, definitely clean. But it's a lil bit too far from the beach. Actually took almost 20 minute to go to the beach from this hotel. The room it's nice, but my husband got a neck pain after sleep with the pillow that they provided in the room. The room also looks so clean, but we accidentally drop the popcorn in the carpet and suddenly ants everywhere, you can't put your food in the room except in the fridge. The pool so disappointing, it's smaller than what appeared in the picture... Read more

This hotel is not up to Courtyard standards. Very noisy hotel with small rooms. You get a lot of noise from the other rooms. The beds are small with bad pillows. The staff is friendly and the food is good but that's it. You don't get value for money.

I had stayed at Courtyard Marriott's in the past but was very disappointed in this Hotel. When we checked in the room was dirty and had a very musky smell in the room. When we turned down the covers on the bed to discover hair and a few dead bugs. We went to the front desk and they moved us to another room that was somewhat better but still had a musky smell. I wanted to get my money refunded but we had another couple coming to the same hotel so we decided to stay. Will not stay in this hotel ag... Read more

This was a business trip for me and I was more than pleasantly surprised with the property. It was centrally located with regards to highways and restaurants. The staff was more than attentive and made my brief stay extremely comfortable.

This was a three-night stay on a 19-night road trip vacation. The hotel is one of the original Courtyard designs. While the property is not new, it was freshly updated, clean, quiet and comfortable. The outdoor pool water was warm and relaxing. The guest laundry only had one set of appliances. The night we chose to do laundry, there was a line three deep. This stay was also the first time we ordered dinner at "The Bistro". Everything we ordered was freshly made and worth the money spent... Read more

we recently stayed at this location for pure pleasure. We came in from Las Vegas for a Bruce Springsteen concert. We got rained out due to a hurricane, tropical storm. The hotel pleasantly changed our reservation to allow us to come back on Monday. The show was moved to Monday. SO we took off, traveled to see family and friends and came back to the hotel. We were pleasantly welcomed back and given a good room. The staff was very helpful. Thomas pointed out several great restaurants that were clo... Read more

We stay in a lot of Marriott Courtyard hotels for business and this one ranks high. You'd think they're all exactly the same but they're not. There is an obvious emphasis on customer service here and Tom at the front desk is a great example of that at work. The rooms are very clean, (ours had just had a deep cleaning) and the place is very well kept. We had a conference room and it was set up perfectly and very clean as well. I hope the company books us at this hotel again when we return to... Read more

We came in at midnight off a 25 hour trip from Rome. The night manager was expecting us and got us checked in 5 minutes, including getting us a bottle of water. After two weeks of European hotels, that big room, Marriott mattress, and de luxe American bathroom was everything we wanted. The next mornng, we had coffee in the room, and then coffee from the lobby Starbucks. They had even upgraded their receipt software to make our trip easier. The morning and evening staff were engaged, smiling, f... Read more

I have no problems or concerns with the room or staff. Both are excellent. The only reason I didn't give them an excellent is that, unlike other Marriott properties I've visited, there is no complementary coffee or breakfast. Everything is a la carte and very expensive. As an example, a small package of potato chips was $2.75. Everything else was up to Courtyard standards.

I stayed here with my five and two year olds one weekend in August when visiting some family in the area. We had a ground floor room with a sliding glass door that opened out to the pool area... they just loved being able to go right out to pool. The front desk staff were extremely kind and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again.
