Colony House is a charming motor lodge with very nice management. The rooms are clean and have everything you need (more TV channels than my cable has at home). The manger, Francis, is very helpful and has many ideas of fun things to do and places to go for those not familiar with the Roanoke area. The location is very convenient to major highways. I would definitely stay there again. I did not say the hotel is "modern," because although it has all of the modern conveniences that you need... Read more

As is mentioned in some of the previous reviews, this is not a Hyatt, and it isn't a Courthouse by Marriott. It's a nice little motel with a very friendly staff. In general I was very satisfied with my room, although as is pointed out in other reviews, there were a couple of small things that caught my attention. Since my stay was in mid-November, the outside temps were chilly and some heat was needed in my room. No problem. The thing is, the heater wouldn't shut off. So after about an hour of ... Read more

First off I am a low budget motel guy so my bar is low, I get it, this is not the Hyatt. But too many problems here to overlook. First off Brenda at the front desk was wonderful, none of these were her fault. But check in took an unusually long time, a system problem? No big deal. But after I checked into room 428 (Brenda was nice enough to move me to the back to avoid traffic noise) I learned that the WiFi signal was too poor to connect, forcing me to my cellphone hot spot for the entire ... The Colony House offered a good nights stay at a decent price point. The room with two double beds was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Linens and towels were adequate. Plenty of very hot water!! The decor is a bit dated. Continental breakfast is very simple.

I report BEDBUGS with dead bodies for evidence and checked out 3 days early they said there was no sign of them in the room. No offer to recompense AT ALL. NEVER, NEVER NEVER stay here. Horrid place!!

The room was clean and beds comfortable. Bathroom and d├ęcor a bit dated. Location was convenient to several hiking spots and was able to walk across the street to a nice dinner at Taste of Asia. Staff was friendly. Would stay there again.

This motel has been in business nearly 60 years! It has mostly been well-maintained but is outdated. Amazing that the bathroom still has 50s pink fixtures! Fine for a night's stay. Skip the free breakfast.

We were in the city for a family affair. Booked online after reading other reviews. Hotel is very 1950's looking. Rooms are large by today's standards. A little dated but very clean. One of the managers, Ed, was very helpful printing out directions and telling us the best places to eat! Would stay there again!

We stopped here for an overnight, room was very clean, The breakfast was the bare minimal, piece of fruit, pastry, some kind of frozen microwave sandwich. TV had enough stations Anyone pulling even a small trailer would have trouble staying here, If I were traveling thru would stay here again.
