Tony at the front desk was very nice, and helpful. This place was just as I remember it. Well kept, and very clean. I haven't been this way in 22 years, and stayed here long ago. It's just as I remembered it. Clean and well kept. I had a woman by the name of Dottie M. take care of us long ago and from what I've herd she still checks in. She was very nice to my small children, and after all these years I still remember her. I like this place. It's older, but very nice. I'd come back over and over... Read more

Stayed here again and a bit disappointed with visit. They gave us a room which required minor maintenance in bathroom area so changed to another room. While fresh paint in portions of the room, not all repainted. Bed was very very firm and pillows very, very small. Wi-fi did not allow websites to complete loading and TV not HD. Room was clean and water hot. Enjoyed coffee maker and two separate sinks. Overall, for a little more money, could be more comfortable. Missed the fresh baked c... Read more

After traveling back and forth to Roanoke several times over the past few weeks due to a family member's illness and eventual passing, and staying in a couple of different hotels, I was extremely pleased with the Colony House Motor Lodge. While it is an older establishment, it was quiet, clean and affordable. The front desk staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful. The room was spacious and the room and bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable and I like that there was a refrigerator an... Read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Colony House this past weekend. We checked in Friday and left Memorial Day. I totally recommend staying here. There are many motels and hotels in the area but I chose this one because I loved the retro look! The rooms were big, the bed was comfortable and the front desk attendant ( whose name I forgot because I'm awful with names ! ) was lovely. It was only a 5 minute drive to my sisters house so it was so convenient! It was unfortunate the pool didn't open... Read more

This is an old, family owned hotel that is very well maintained. The front desk folks are very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The rates are good. Our room as quite comfortable and very clean with at-the-door parking. We have stayed here the past 2 years and will be back next year.

Absolutely loved it! So vintage, so cool! It's readily apparent that the staff love their jobs. Clean and tidy. Room decor is dated but that adds to the charm. A nice refreshing pool is an added bonus. Friendliest staff we have ever encountered in all of our travels. If you like your chains, then chose elsewhere. But if you enjoy family run, vintage charm, then here's your place.

We stopped here on the way home from a pre planned motorcycle trip so the hotel was chosen another one of our riders. The staff was friendly. There are many "rules" posted, but none are unreasonable or really unexpected. The decor was very dated, but the property was extremely well maintained. Many of the rooms have parking directly in front of the room. The breakfast was interesting, but acceptable. They had these tiny sausage biscuit sandwiches that you popped in the microwave, which is b... Read more

Check in went smoothly. A really nice lady named Brenda got us checked in and had some good advice on restaurants, shopping, and things to do. Now this is an older hotel, but the bathroom and dressing area were both as clean as any newer hotel. The room was also fairly clean, except for about two inches all the way around the baseboard. I mean it was filthy. Made me wonder just what could be living in that two inches all the way around the room. Also in the armoire, which contained the mic... Read more

We stopped here for an overnight, room was very clean, The breakfast was the bare minimal, piece of fruit, pastry, some kind of frozen microwave sandwich. TV had enough stations Anyone pulling even a small trailer would have trouble staying here, If I were traveling thru would stay here again.

We were in the city for a family affair. Booked online after reading other reviews. Hotel is very 1950's looking. Rooms are large by today's standards. A little dated but very clean. One of the managers, Ed, was very helpful printing out directions and telling us the best places to eat! Would stay there again!

This motel has been in business nearly 60 years! It has mostly been well-maintained but is outdated. Amazing that the bathroom still has 50s pink fixtures! Fine for a night's stay. Skip the free breakfast.

The room was clean and beds comfortable. Bathroom and d├ęcor a bit dated. Location was convenient to several hiking spots and was able to walk across the street to a nice dinner at Taste of Asia. Staff was friendly. Would stay there again.

I report BEDBUGS with dead bodies for evidence and checked out 3 days early they said there was no sign of them in the room. No offer to recompense AT ALL. NEVER, NEVER NEVER stay here. Horrid place!!
