The King Suite was very comfortable and quiet, 2 TV's and lots of space to move about. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. They directed us to several local fine restaurants. Great location! Many famous sights were within walking distance. The neighborhood felt safe and was very clean. The only issue was that the Holiday Inn website offered poor directions from I 95; there was no "Belvedere Street" exit. I suggest that the hotel improves and updates the directions. Not everyone has acce... Read more

Self parking no valet, parking spots were a little tight. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff at the front desk were very helpful. Free shuttle bus service within a 2 mile radius that we were able to take advantage of. Breakfast was fine. All in all a favorable experience.

My friend and I went to a 2 day genealogy seminar at the LVA sponsored by GSV. I made the reservations at this hotel for several reasons. First reason was because I am very familiar with this hotel chain and have used them in the past for other genealogy trips. I like the free breakfast they offer and also for the locale. Now for what I did and did not like about our stay! We got there about 4 in the afternoon after driving 10 hours. Got lost in the city and when we finally found the hotel, had... Read more

We stayed Thurs through Sun while attending Technosphere at the convention center, walking distance away. The nicest, most helpful staff imaginable made it easy to add a guest the last night, bringing in a rollaway. Absolutely clean, super comfortable. A smoke detector started chirping after we arrived, and Judy immediately responded by installing a fresh battery. That doesn't happen often! Hot breakfast, complimentary bottled water. Close to restaurants (Perly's and Pop's Market) so good we rev... Read more

Exactly what you expect from a Holiday Inn Express. No frills, clean accommodation. Rooms were large enough with all the usual facilities. Breakfast buffet a worthwhile bonus. The only quibble I have with this hotel is in the title. This hotel is not downtown. At best you might say it is on the edge of downtown but restaurants and other eating places are very few near to the hotel. A good walk downhill brings you to the real downtown area with its restaurants and cafes but then that means its a... Read more

We came to visit Richmond for two days, but there was so much to see we stayed five. Despite the changes in our stay the staff worked very hard to make any room changes to only one over that five day period, and it was to a better room to boot. The breakfast is great, the food staff work very hard to provide the best breakfast. We could not say too much in their favor. The desk staff were very helpful besides the above assistance in our prolonged stay. They guided us to great restaurants al... Read more

Stayed here for a shopping trip overnight. The hotel was functional, central, and parking was easy. The facility is older but well cared for. The room was decently sized for a city hotel; staff was friendly.

10-15 minute walk into restaurant area (uphill coming back). I think there is a hotel shuttle bus but it was out of service: they'd pay for a taxi into town but not back. Big rooms, clean. Breakfast included hot dishes.

Easy on/off from I-295, fair value, decent breakfast, currently undergoing some necessary upgrades and improvements. Good for traveling choice of accommodation, not so much a choice for vacation. IHG members should be offered additional amenities, bottled water would be nice.

This hotel is in downtown Richmond with a very low ceiling parking lot under the hotel. To get into the P1 lot, it has such a big uneven spot my car was going to bottom out and scrape my bumpers. The lobby has an OK appearance. But as soon as you get into the elevator the musty smell starts. The carpeting in the halls and room were very worn and old. Desparately needs updating. The AC unit was very noisey and there was no view. Suzie at the front desk was very helpful, she provided us wit... Read more

Stayed two weeks in a row on business. First week was wonderful: great room, good breakfast, and I am a Spire Elite Member so they waved the parking fee (I was notified of this when I checked in). The second week - I was not so lucky. When checking in I was again notified that the parking fee was waved due to my IHG status, and had another great room. However - the bill slipped under my door the morning I checked out showed an additional $48 charge ($12 per day) for parking. I went to the f... Read more

I recently visited this property with my family group of 6 people - 3 couples. I am responsible for having booked the 3 rooms which were ok for hotel brand (I have stayed in fresher properties run under this "Flag"). Upon arriving we found that the entrance to the hotel from Cray Street is up lots of steep outside steps from the sidewalk, and then after completing a substantial walk across a patio area one reaches the lobby doors. We did discover that from an underground garage one can elevat... Read more

We chose this hotel because we wanted an affordable downtown location, and the hotel fit the bill. It was a good choice. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. The room seemed to have been recently fixed up, and it looked as those they were doing the same with other rooms. We asked for a room on a higher floor, and were given a nice, 6th floor room with good views of the city lights. The hotel recommends some walking distance restaurants, and they are good choices. The area isn't p... Read more

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and were pleased. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful with information and directions. We took the hotel shuttle 2 times which was very convenient. The room was clean. My only complaint is that there are never enough hooks in the room to hang towels. Breakfast is nothing great but coffee good, and gives a decent selection of cereal, yogurt, bagels, muffins, etc. Hotel location is fine; restaurants within 5-10 minute walk and short drive to other... This hotel is very average. Overpriced given the quality if you ask me, but that's downtown pricing. There isn't much going on downtown so unless you need to stay there, I would look in other neighborhoods. Room was adequate. Floor ac unit was tough to get right- it was either too hot or too cold. Bed was fine. Hallway smelled weird.

This hotel is clean, comfortable and conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and downtown sights. Also just a short distance to drive to Cary town. Front desk staff was friendly and provided a list of nearby restaurants to go to. They do charge for car parking which is $12 a day. They only offer in house laundry service which is too expensive for us so we went to a laundromat a short drive away.

Stayed for VCU family weekend. Good rate, but I had requested 2 beds since it wasn't just me staying. Got there and was told that they had upgraded me to an executive king suite which had a pull out couch (they had sold out of the 2 bed rooms). Bathroom smelled like smoke but the room itself was ok with the exception that I did have to ask them to come and provide new sheets for the bed since I could see a clear sleeping spot on one side from the last guest. Gross. We also asked for sheets ... Read more

Holiday Inn Express implied on their website that this hotel was close to the James River. It was not. It was at least 4 blocks away. The walk down to the river was downhill, but all uphill coming back. Not an easy walk for older folks or those with a handicap. The room was clean, the bedding fresh. The breakfast area was very clean and very well supplied. The hotel staf were incredibly friendly

I've switched to Holiday Inn Express whenever possible because of their amenities. They have the Keurigs in room, higher end shampoos, a 60 second pancake maker, etc. This is on top of the normal amenities you would get at a hotel.

On a college visit to Virginia Commonwealth University and as IHG member found this location close to all Richmond has to offer. Staff at desk and housekeeping were pleasant, polite and knowledgeable about area. Room was good size for a downtown style hotel. The rooms could use a little updating and some bleach around showers for those who look closely. I did find it inconvenient to pay $12 for parking in an empty garage under the hotel. Breakfast did miss the mark as hot items were. Cold , ... Read more

Great business class hotel near VCU, VUU, the financial district, Jackson Ward and Fan district.. The room was clean and well maintained. The heating/cooling unit was a bit noisy, but it was early fall and did not need to use the unit at night. The self-service breakfast buffet was very good. The front desk and maintenance staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

This is a nice modern property with all the facilities we needed. The welcome at reception was great, and although the first room we went to had a bleeping smoke detector the room was swapped with profuse apologies and no fuss. The room was spacious and well equipped. Plenty of room for breakfast, and the offering was fine. Even the hot items were OK, unusual in this price range. The car park is underneath, $12 a night if I remember correctly. Warning, it is actually on S 2nd Street. The only d... Read more

It has a good location within walking distance to the "main attractions" let's call it in downtown Richmond, where there isn't really much to do or see, nor is a "tourist destination" with the likes of Orlando or Miami. If you are passing by, like my case and wants to go out and explore is the "perfect inexpensive base" to do so. Rooms are nice, clean with very efficient service but the building itself is very old and this company MUST invest some money remodeling, making it more modern and in... Read more

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express to attend a Garth Brooks concert at the Richmond Coliseum. The location of the hotel was perfect for attractions downtown, however the customer service was rude and not very accommodating. When we inquired about the free shuttle to the concert we were told the shuttle was not available due to the Richmond Marathon being in town. That was a flat out lie. My husband and I really liked this hotel! Room was spacious! Lobby was nice and clean. The free breakfast in the morning was better than expected with a large variety of hot and cold food. They also leave coffee and tea out all day which is a nice touch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had our baby with us, and everyone was sweet to him.
