I stayed at the Holiday Inn Alexandria at Carlisle for one night with my husband and young children. Overall we had a good experience. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the 10th floor room was quiet. There were obviously some renovations taking place but they were not disruptive. We took the hotel shuttle to the Metro but it really wasn't necessary as the stain was a five-minute walk away. We opted to walk back after our da... Read more

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel, the rooms were well appointed with plenty of space although the bathrooms were a tight fit!! The beds were very comfortable with a choice of soft or firm pillows. Well equipped with a fridge, microwave, iron, hair drier and coffee machine (although regular tea would have been welcomed!!) Wi-fi throughout the hotel kept us well connected and allowed us to plan our trips out and about the DC area. The lobby was clean and welcoming, with a well stocked refreshmen... Read more

I'm writing this review while actually in my room. The room is clean and very comfortable. Everything works well in the room. The beds are very comfortable. The pool is clean and stocked well with towels. There is an outside patio area that is very relaxing well furnished. Free parking and security are added bonuses. The staff have been very helpful and friendly. Much better than most hotel staff I'm used to. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. I did not eat at the restaurant s... Read more

The metro was so convenient to go everywhere and the local trolley was wonderful to hop on and hop off in Alexandria which is a beautiful city. Restaurants were nice and had outside seating. Slightly expensive. The holiday Inn staff were amazingly helpful and took us anywhere downtown Alexandria.

My family and I stayed here four nights while we were visiting D.C. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The front desk attendant working our first night there was very helpful with all our questions about the metro. And the lady who I believe either manages or is the hostess in the food area was very sweet and friendly every morning. They even gave my senior parents a shuttle ride to and from a local restaurant one night while I was in the city doing stuff. I felt like they wen... Read more

The location of the hotel was perfect for the price. The metro station is a block away (with a Starbucks across the street) and an easy 30 minute ride to downtown DC. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Old Town or anywhere nearby you need to go. The driver is awesome and it was so much easier than trying to park. Breakfast was disappointing- skip the overpriced buffet. Food had been there too long and there weren't enough servers. Wouldn't be hard to find something else for breakfast. Rooms are ... Read more

Overall clean, friendly, comfortable. Slept great, the pool had a lifeguard and was perfect. Will stay again next time we are up to DC. Good people. The food was just ok, but expected for what is basically a business hotel. Halls were a bit dark and being remodeled, but ok since we slept in our room :)

Very good experience. When we first checked in, our room smelled slightly like fresh cigarette smoke. I tried to call down to the office but there were several people in line checking in. We shut the AC off and after a bit the smell disappeared. I don't know if it was a nearby room or if it was coming in through the vent, but it was fine after that. It is a non-smoking hotel. Staff was great, including housekeeping. We stayed here 2 nights and took Uber to DC twice, which we highly recomme... Read more

We brought our church youth group to this property following a flight delay which resulted in an additional and unexpected overnight stay. We were in DC for the prior week doing service work in the city. Staff was terrific - got us settled quickly, created a space for an impromptu pizza dinner, organized a delicious private breakfast buffet - made a tough situation great for our youth and for our adult leaders. Property and furnishings are freshly updated and beautiful - beds were super comfy... Read more

The hotel staff is friendly and courteous. The shuttle service is an extra bonus to Old Town Alexandria. The location is perfect. Quick train ride to DC. My husband and granddaughter relaxed at the pool after a long day of sight seeing. Hotel price was fair and the hotel breakfast was delicious. I Highly recommend this hotel.

Today, my 9 year old son and I had a long day of driving and sightseeing. We were so exhausted that going out to dinner was not happening. We decided to just eat at the hotel bar. I have never had a more pleasurable dining experience. The bartender, Cheryl, went out of her way to make my son and I feel welcome. She made him a special chocolate milk with whipped cream. After that, she was his new best friend. My son has autism and struggles in social situations. He is often unsure of what to say ... Read more

I stayed here with my family while I visited Washington DC. It is about 15-20 minutes from all the main attractions in DC, 10 minutes away from the beautiful town of Alexandria with good restaurants and bars and still away from all the madness in a quiet place. Hence a good location. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly, up to the high expectations that Holiday Inn has set up for itself.

This Holiday Inn is located in a great place for access to the DC Metro rail system, as well as to highways leading in/out of town. The metro station is just 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel is quite old, but has been renovated with modern amenities. Even though the old shows through a little, the room had a very nice comfy bed with great linens, free internet access, a small refrigerator, single cup coffee maker, and large screen TV. Other than the steady hum of highway traffic, the room ... Read more

But rates are very reasonable. good water pressure, no hot water problems. rooms and lobby are nicely renovated. My husband & I recently attended a high school reunion, where we stayed at this hotel. The room was nice, but the breakfast service was very understaffed and some of the staff were not the most pleasant. When only one complimentary coffee packet was left in our room, the wait staff in charge wanted to charge me for a cup at the bar. My breakfast order wss mixed up due to a long wait for oatmeal. It would be one thing if this was made up for upon my contacting the front desk and proceeding further to contacting corporate by email; but neither of these resolved the issue. This is the best hotel to stay in if you are going to be in the Washington D.C. area. It is located in Alexandria, Virginia. It has many perks, but the best one is that the Metro line is a block away out the back door. You can see it from the back rooms of the hotel. The employees at this hotel treat you like royalty. We had a very enjoyable 5 nights at this hotel. I have traveled quite a bit, both for business and pleasure. Rarely have I encountered the high level of customer service, even at higher-end luxury hotels, coupled with value as we experienced at this hotel. The restaurant and wait staff were excellent (we either had a breakfast buffet or cooked to order breakfast included in our reasonable AAA rate). Our room was very clean and exceedingly comfortable; and uniformly, from the cleaning staff to... Read more

Laundry is $3 each wash and dry, quarters. Shuttle goes 3 miles. Airport is 3.5 miles, my guess is airport fees cost too much to go there. But still. Rooms on even numbers are on freeway side. This is one of the nicer chain hotels I've visited. It's a taller hotel so our 9th floor room gave us a nice view of the area (it's not a Grand Canyon-esque Vista but it'll do). The staff on the phone and in person is really friendly and helpful. I travel a lot. And I mean A LOT! So my fear in writing this review is that the hotel will increase prices. Seriously- of all the Alexandria Hotels I can't believe how affordable and great this one is in comparison. I was there for a week and here's what I can tell you. Staff is friendly, accommodations were great. I read an earlier review about the Freeway side... I'm light sleeper and I could hear nothing from the freeway side- virtually soundproof. The hotel is an older property that's been recently refurbished. The rooms, halls, and common areas have new furniture, fixtures, and wall coverings. Everything feels fresh and modern. Whoever picked the hall carpet though made a mistake - it looks like an industrial accident although it's fresh and clean. The hotel is an easy walk to the Metro, so if you're heading into the district it's easy to do. Ask a the desk for a metro card someone's turned in after their stay and save the $2 it wil...
