We were in Richmond for a wedding held at the John Marshall Ballrooms! The Hilton offered our guests a free shuttle within a two mile radius of the hotel. Many guests took the shuttle to the John Marshall and on the next day had the shuttle pick them up at one of the local museums. Valet parking was in/out - meaning guests only pay one rate for the day. Great choice for a downtown location.

A nice high end hotel that is remodeled from an historic department store. Our room was very large, nice robes, clean and very modern. Solid continental breakfast and friendly service. Main negative is that you need to do valet parking for about $23.

I was most impressed with the staff here - everyone was so friendly and eager to help! The hotel was also very clean, my room was enormous, and the decor was both beautiful and soothing. Although I didn't use the service, I liked that the hotel has a free shuttle anywhere within 2 miles. I also liked the plaques near the elevators explaining some of the history of the building.

What we expected to be your standard business hotel stay turned out to be something much more unique. Every single person we encountered, from valet guy to front desk staff to maid, was genuinely friendly and human. We were immediately impressed by the tie-in to the building's historic renovation, from the original lobby floors (pointed out by the front desk gentleman) and the old Miller & Rhodes signage on Broad Street, to the artwork throughout, which managed to combine the history of the plac... This is a new hotel in the center of Richmond's redeveloping neighborhood. The staff is great, lobby has plenty of seating and computers. Rooms are very good size. The hotel offers a free shuttle service so you don't have to drive. There are many good choices for restaurants within a couple of blocks of the hotel.

Our upgraded room was spacious, bright and airy. Housekeepers kept the room clean and well serviced. 4 pm check in was a bit late but may be standard in the area. The Executive Club evening snacks were nice and the service and decor were outstanding. The decor of the hotel was impressive , incorporating items from the buildings former use as a department store. The free continental breakfast could be upgraded for a few dollars to the a la carte menu. The free mini bus service took you directly ... Read more

Beautiful Hotel! Not too pleased on the price and inconvenient parking. Also quite surprised they allow their restaurant manager to make personal calls while assisting with tables. Me and my friend got an "earful".

I normally have great experiences with Hilton properties, so was slightly disappointed at this downtown Richmond location. First, I will say that this hotel is in a great location, very easy to get to off of the highway. It's a huge property, but not hard to navigate. I requested a room away from the elevator, as I tend to be a light sleeper. Unfortunately, it seems I was placed next to some kind of electrical/mechanical room because I heard a thumping/bumping sound, at measured intervals,... Read more

Everyone we encountered at the hotel were friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and very new still. We lived in Richmond for 14 years prior to moving away and the location was perfect for easy access to friends/family and places/restaurants we love. I am giving it 4 instead of 5 starts for 2 reasons: - Valet only. I know it's a downtown hotel in a fairly business section of town but just annoying not having a self-park option. Free or not, it would have been nice to just get the car w... Read more

The housekeeping staff (Julita) was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and bright; the front desk staff (Lisa, Preston and Adrian) were kind, knowledgeable about the area for sightseeing and restaurants and the room service staff were very accommodating (Idaisha!). It was great. My boys even said if we come to Richmond again they wanted to stay here. ???

I stayed here for a work conference from July 11th through July 14th 2016 and can honestly say the staff here (and believe it or not, all the people I encountered outside of the hotel as well) are the friendliest people I've every had the pleasure of meeting. The front desk staff were always smiling, friendly and helpful, the guy who took our stuff to our room was great with friendly advise and suggestions for restaurants and all of the valet guys were professional and super friendly. Excellent location. Historic Miller & Rhoads was a department store that is a classic example of adaptive rehabilitation to a full Hilton. Numerous restaurants and historical points of interest within walking distance. Convention center is right across the street. Staff friendly and welcoming. Stayed there twice and both times were good experiences!

The location of this hotel downtown made it easy to visit local historical sites as well as enjoy the nearby restaurants. The rooms were spacious and clean. The room amenities were more than ample with a coffee bar and refrigerator. Staff were very polite and accommodating.

This Hilton was a delight to stay in. The staff was so great. When my daughter and son-in-law told us that their room was noisy all night because of its location, the front desk was cheerful and sympathetic and changed their room immediately with no problems. The check out could have been dicey because I was paying for multiple rooms and lengths of stay but the young man doing the checkout was patient, kind and thorough. Great job!

Excellent staff! Very welcoming and polite. Beds and linens were extremely comfortable. Enjoyed using the Peter Thomas Roth bath products provided. I would not wander around after dark. There are some questionable areas, but it is a downtown urban area.. Very close to VCU campus and lots of historical buildings in the area. I would definitely return

Loyalty pays and our beautiful upgrade and everything with it made our stay all the more lovely. After a long haul flight this was truly a lovely surprise. This beautiful historic hotel has huge rooms, hugh ceilings giving such a sense of space is incredible. Breakfast was a bit rocky, order mix up but the end result was lovely thanks to the sous chef sorting out my omelette correctly. Highly recommend it.

Went to the Hilton Downtown on a business trip. Being very familiar with Richmond, I liked that it is within walking distance of the Capital, the Patrick Henry Office Building, and lots of restaurants. The hotel itself is clean and quiet. I ate breakfast in the restaurant. It was good but the waitress forgot part of the order. She didn't charge me for it, so I went on my way. Don't get excited about the Executive Lounge. The prices and selections are exactly the same as in the main bar. The ... Read more

My family and I stayed here from July 1st - 10th for the National Taekwondo Championships. We stayed on the Executive Floor room 701. Our stay began on a very rocky start so much so that we actually looked at other establishments after the 3rd day. Our room was not cleaned appropriately, beds looked as if my young children made the beds and dirty towels were not replaced with clean towels. We would be gone from our room from about 9am -6pm. After a long day of site seeing or the tournament ... Read more

Typical Hilton experience, nice and clean rooms. We got in very late due to delayed flight and had no issues checking in. Didn't have time to sight-see but location seemed ideal. Cons: parking is not ideal, $23 daily for valet and no complimentary breakfast available.

Easy 7 block walk up Broad Street to the Hospital complex. A free shuttle service was available, but I prefer to walk. Hotel shares space with condo units in a former department store. King bed room with very high ceilings and sophisticated but relaxing decor. Theaters for Ballet and music concerts nearby. Great restaurants one block away on Grace Street.

First of all, I love the thought of this hotel being housed in a historic setting of a time gone by in the old Miller & Rhoads department store. I visited each individual floor to see the plaque located just outside the elevator doors as to what was housed on each floor. Fourth floor? Furniture and rugs (my favorite). The grand time of having lunch in the tea room or visiting Santa Claus on the 7th floor is gone, but not forgotten. It lives on in the minds of anyone who visited one of the grand ... Read more

I had a great experience start to finish. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable. The workout room gets the job done. The Hotel used to be an department store in the late 1800s. It has such a great store associated with it. I will most definitely be back!

I really like the look and feel of my room. Fridge, comfy sofa and useful side table, good working desk and several available outlets. Complaints: no in room recycling, no breakfast, really small garbage cans. Front desk staff is friendly and pool area is very nice. Be careful of 2nd floor rooms, many of them overlook an interior courtyard which allows people to look directly into your room if you don't keep the curtains drawn. That said, the interior courtyard is a very good feature.

Ask for a floor that is higher rather than on a lower floor. Otherwise you will get the noise from the street; including the buses that announce the stop they are on very loudly and the local bell tower that chimes.
