The hotel is in an amazing location on the boardwalk with a complete kitchen (dishwasher, full-sized fridge and a combo microwave/convection oven). While the hallways were quite warm and the main elevator was a bit small for the luggage carts (didn't realize there was a freight elevator I should've used), the rest of the hotel is great and I couldn't say more about the location! Our room was clean and comfortable. I have to give a huge shout out to Patricia from the VSA Resorts Hospitality Team.... Read more

First, let me say, the ocean view is fantastic. Other than that, the rooms sucked. The bed, including the pullout sofa were TERRIBLE. The kids felt every spring. Wasn't very clean, and no I'm not very picky, but I shouldn't have found someone else's hair in the tub on the bathroom floor. You have to go get the toilet paper when you run out as well, the elevator is small and kept getting stuck. The gym is super small, but it was always empty so it worked out for us. I enjoyed being able to watch ... Read more

I scheduled a Resort Preview with VSA Resorts this past weekend. My credit card was charged for the agreed upon rate and I received an e-mail from the resort with my reservation information. In the "small print' of the email, I was given a list of what would happen if I did not meet the conditions of my obligation to this reservation such as forfeiture of the package price paid if I did not complete a 90 minute presentation. I arrived in Virginia Beach on Friday and was scheduled to attend the p... Read more

We had a fine stay at this hotel. It took a while to get our room, but once we were settled everything was fine. It wasn't the cleanest or fanciest hotel, but we were ocean front and we took advantage of the restaurant that connected to the hotel, which we enjoyed.

Very nice room and amenities... clean and quiet... beautiful view of beach and ocean from the balcony. Close to shopping and nightlife. Staff was very friendly, and were able to accommodate an extra night's stay with only a few hours' notice.

This resort was nice, short walk to beach, nice friendly staff, quick check in and out, all rooms ocean front with balconies. Clean and quiet, restaurant on site and snack and vending machines. The only thing is that if you plan to cook in at all there is no oven and your limited to cooking supplies. There is laundry facilities which is nice, they are free just bring your own detergent and there are no laundry baskets in the room so you need to find a way to carry your laundry loads back and for... We stayed for a small anniversary trip, and the money is SO NOT worth the stay. There was glass in the hall carpet. When they told us our room is ready, we walked in and housekeeping was STILL cleaning it. They must have not finished, because there was pubic hair on the bathroom floor, and face smudges on the window. The room was so humid, it made our belongings and the bed sheets feel damp. Breakfast consisted of honey buns, coffee and juice boxes. And the parking deck was not layed out very we... Read more

I have had a 1st floor room since 2000. With the new patios I can walk out my bedroom and watch the people on the boardwalk and beach. It's nice to have breakfast on the patio. The Hotel is right on the ocean, centrally located to see all the entertainers on Beach Street USA. The staff are friendly and always helpful. They have a nice indoor pool, a small workout room and free laundry service. Each unit has a full kitchen so you can save money by cooking your own meals instead of going out every... Read more

The location was good, but the facilities needs to be updated. The check in and out was quick. We had a balcony and that was good. It's a nice place to stay, but they really need to update the rooms like make the floors even, replace outdated furniture and repaint the rooms so it has a fresher look.

Made reservations a year ago to return to Ocean Sands for the week of Oct.8-15. Arrived on Sat.Oct.8., got checked in, unloaded car, and went out to dinner. Due to hurricane Matthew the resort lost power around 12:30am. Sun. morning. Around midday, we hadn't heard anything so we ventured to the front desk and were told it might be Tuesday before power was restored. We inquired about where we might get something to eat and we were given some info from the staff. We went back to our room to get... Read more

This was a return visit, previously we were here while OS was under construction. They have turned the building into a wonderful place to vacation. Our room was on the 14th floor and what a view, queen sized bed, quiet a/c, and very clean. Check in and check out was easy, plenty of parking spaces, both covered and open air. My only negative comment was the staff that were smokers went to the garage to smoke, creating an annoying cloud that seemed to linger due to location. The pool has long hour... Read more

Got to my place in Va Beach a lil late this year! Arrived at 4:30 am Tuesday morning. Steve was there to greet me. After all was said and done Steve brought out the cart and unloaded my vehicle. He escorted me to my place, and helped me to unpack we chatted for a few minutes and he asked me if I saw my Happy Birthday to Dwane on the Marquee. I went downstairs with him to take a picture and have it stored. My bd was 2 days before and I know Michele had them keep it on the marquee till I arrived. ... Read more

My advice is to FIRST check your room for mold/mildew issues (check around drapes and check your shower curtain) and check in cabinets (lower/upper) for any creepy-crawler issues BEFORE you bring your luggage upstairs. Also check the A/C / ventilation system to make sure it works properly. The hotel apparently offers PURE (allergy friendly rooms) but it wasn't something that was offered to us. Check everything first before getting settled. Nothing fancy here but it was a relatively nice stay... Read more

We arrived from New Jersey around check in time, unpacked and went to Harris Teeter's for groceries. Sat. Oct 8th, evening was wind and rain. We were surprised it was the tail end of Hurricane Matthew, since the radio never mentioned it. Power went after midnight. Howling wind sent part of the pool roof flying across the parking lot. A few of us were in the hall on the 6th floor, watching the storm. No one could sleep due to the wind. The next morning we were told some places had power. We went ... Read more

I don't know what happened to this place, but our room was seriously gross! The floor was sooooo sticky that I had to wear shoes allllllllllll of the time! The bathroom was filthy! The toilet seat was broken, no hot water, and there was dirt all over the light switches and door knob. The pull out couch was grimy. We only stayed 1 night then got a hotel in Chesapeake. Aside from location, i would not recommend this place for more than 1 night.

great location close to everything. Visited family only .8 miles from resort. View of the ocean excellent and easy for walking on the boardwalk. Although several restaurants were closed we did come across a couple that were withing walking distance that we enjoyed very much. One of them being 204 pizza and the other doc taylors which was excellent. a

Mouse & roach. Need I say any more? Stayed at Ocean Sands Nov 6-9, 2016. In the first room a mouse ventured into the room from under a refrigerator. After switching to a second room I killed a roach with a body/thorax of approximately 1.5 inches. In the second room, loud noise from the refrigerator was followed with water leaked into a pool onto the kitchen floor. I cleaned plentiful crumbs from the toaster before using it. The swimming pool was out of order. There were no basket filters... Read more

Clean units, pool, lobby. Washer dryers work fine but need updating. There is a bar/restaurant onsite end of march to ?. Foods good. Lots of local restaurants that are good too. This is a public resort but it it also a time share. If that's what your looking for keep me in mind.

We had a beach front room with two balconies one from the bedroom and one from the living room. The first room we were put in was the last room they had. We arrived at 430pm and the room looked as if it had not been cleaned in a month. I am so grateful that I brought my Clorox wipes, a diffuser and a single air mattress. I went to the front desk to complain the young man said that he could get house keeping to the room and I said please do so. I went to shop for the stay and when I returned... Read more
