We were there for a conference and this was the host hotel. Rooms were good, but remember to add the $25 per night in taxes. We used the valet service for parking, the guys put up with us coming and going as we explored Norfolk. Hotel is a little older, so remember to pack your powerstrip for phones, computers, etc. Free wifi was good in the rooms, not so much at the conference (to be expected with all the people)l.

We stayed here for a conference. But it would be so great for couples, families, just about any reason. The staff took great care of all of us and there were probably 60 attendees and their spouses. Meals were outstanding for the group. They were buffet, but the food was excellent quality. I paid a little extra to get a room with a waterfront view. It was well worth it! The room was clean, well appointed, bathroom also very clean. Because I'm a Starwoods member, I was to get a room on the... Read more

Hotel is a good value but aged (well below Starwood standards). Beds are comfortable and breakfast buffet is reasonable. Good location along waterfront. The hotel however is in desperate need of an update (which they appear to have started). Long, long, looongggg lines to check out.

I was in town for a convention and the hotel was booked to capacity. The hotel staff was friendly and polite. The layout of the hotel includes ballrooms and hotel guests rooms on the third floor. The ballroom guests and hotel guest rooms utilize the same elevator and the ballroom portion of the third floor is open and overlooks the main entrance foyer and front desk on the floor below. Stayed on a Saturday night. Great location downtown along the river. Hotel is showing it's age. Lots of activity and any noise in the hallways is easily heard in the room. Air conditioner was also noisy. We asked for a late checkout and yet housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30am. Self-parking is in a deck that is a short walk from the hotel. Desk staff was very courteous and professional. We got a good rate for our stay, but we've certainly had better Sheraton stays.

The hotel was decent overall. It needs a little work in some places, but it I didn't find it to be a big deal. The check-in attendant was very polite and moved us to a room that better suited our needs. My one major complaint is the parking, it's a complete joke. $24 for valet, or $12 for the parking garage that was roughly 2 blocks away. The valet lot is only about 20 feet outside the front door. The driveway is a single lane horseshoe that traps you in a bottleneck while everyone unloads their... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while visiting with my son. It is located in a convenient downtown location - just a short walking distance from Nauticus and Granby Street. The staff were very welcoming and answered all my questions and concerns. The hotel lobby is modern and pretty and has several areas in which to lounge. We stayed in a harbor side room on the sixth floor. Although we wanted one king sized bed, we could only be accommodated with two queens, no big deal. The room had ... Read more

If it weren't for the comfortable bed, I would've checked out after the first of my three night stay. Going up to my room, the elevator area looked to be under construction but without the "excuse our mess" sign... the elevator looked like it had also seen a better day. The room itself was dated. The furniture was a dated couch and chair. The king sized bed was plush and inviting... that was the saving grace. I ordered room service the first night. I stayed at the Sheraton Norfolk for a one week business trip. It is because of the club lounge that I have given it 4 stars. Otherwise, I would have given this 3 stars. I paid the higher price for a Club level room (10th floor) and access to the Club lounge. This was absolutely worth it. Two words dominated the stay experience - deferred maintenance. Everywhere you look there is evidence of neglect in plant reinvestment. This seems to be an issue with Sheraton writ large, but for this prime location property they should act not before it's too late. Location alone will not save the place. Staff were pleasant and attentive - give them the goods to work with so they can make your property successful.

The Sheraton is an excellent choice for a hotel in Norfolk. Easy walking distance to the USS Wisconsin and Nauticus. The riverside view and walkway are an added plus to this property. We stayed in Mid-July while temps were brutal outside. Hotel was an oasis! Check in was quick and easy. Room was clean and smelled fresh. Staff was always friendly and cheerful. Location of the hotel is great for walking downtown and along the riverfront. However, parking is a bit awkward. Sheets and towels are nice but if not renovated soon it will not be Sheraton standards. The room has mismatched furniture and the phone even needs to be replaced. If you just need a clean room for a night this place will do... Tip: do not get club level. Small, no alcohol, not much food.. Not worth added price! Constantly hearing doors and noise in hallway!!

Our room was 525, the pillows were lumpy, but the room was typical hotel style and kept. The bathroom needed work. Our shower didn't drain much so after a shower it looked like a bath, and there were hairs that were defiantly not ours in several places. There was a little mold on the shower curtain and rust on the door hinges. A chip in the toilet seat, blank spots in the mirror, and the poorly fixed cold water handle on the sink made it feel cheap and run down. We got two cards for the room and... Read more

Was staying in Norfolk to attend the American Music Festival on Virginia Beach and chose the Sheraton for its proximity and because I am a Sheraton Preferred Group platinum member. All that said, the room we had was facing the waterfront looking on the Norfolk Naval and Air Center. Amazing views with a great walkway along the waterfront. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. The breakfast buffet with the omelet station at the hotel restaurant was excelle... Read more

I have to say I was not impressed. I had just stayed the week before at a much "lesser" hotel and it was much cleaner and well kept than this Sheraton. Several people I met shared similar thoughts. We all noticed that our headboards on beds were torn up, hard to reach places were seriously dusty and dirty, and one woman said there were blood stains on her sheets. The room's walls were either scuffed or torn in several places too. I also noticed that the elevators were seriously dingy and in need... Read more

Our Navy association held a reunion in Norfolk, and selected this hotel for the group to stay with. It is a large hotel that offers all the services; friendly staff, great restaurant, attractive rooms and large facilities to host conferences and other major events. I enjoyed the place, and found almost everything that I wanted. The only two "down" points (which lowered the score here) was the fact that I received no room service at all. I arrived on Friday afternoon, checked out on Sunday morni... Read more

Before this visit I associated Sheraton with a luxury brand. I've stayed at budget hotels in better condition in third world countries. When I tried to check in Sunday around 6 pm, no room was ready. We were a big group with an advance booking, so that seemed really odd. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned, with a pile of sticky goop right in the entrance, plain as day. The vinyl headboard had dark brown streaks, the color of poo, over the pillow. I called for housekeeping, then went to din... Read more

Based on other reviews, it's a cliche to knock on this hotel for cleanliness. However, it was my experience as well. My bed sheets were clean, but had stains that obviously didn't come out in the wash. Also, the carpets in the common areas were dirty with crumbs and other debris. The ironing board in my room was filthy and stained. There was a dead cricket hanging from a ceiling tile right in the middle of our conference room. The list goes on and on. Finally, the internet speed in the room, bu... Read more

I should have listened to TripAdvisor... I travelled here for business in September 2016 and found this hotel to be not typical of an SPG property. Check-in was uneventful. I was given a 2x queen room on the harbor on a high floor. As I walked down the hallway, I noticed the carpet was dingy and many of the room number plaques were missing and pieces of computer paper were taped in their place. The room appeared relatively clean, but definitely outdated and in need of a makeover. The first... Read more

We attended a convention here in may and the hotel was immaculate. We stayed in the presidential suite and it was absolutely excellent! Beautiful water views from every direction. The staff really took very good care of our group. Zack checked us in and took very good care of us .

The beds were great, but the room was in need of some repairs (tear in chair, carpet worn). We stayed here 3 nights for a reunion. We had a good view of the harbor, which was nice to look at. There was a big swimming pool that looked inviting but we did not bring our swim suits with us. Food in restaurant was good, but pricey. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

For a Sheraton in the heart of a CBD, this hotel was not what one would expect. We experienced significant issues with the housekeeping. The first day we were there, they did not clean our room. Then, when we were coming back to the room at like 11 pm that night, housekeeping was cleaning rooms, including the one across from us. There were two more days during our visit when our room was not cleaned even though we had no sign out. Our understanding from other people attending the conference... Read more

Very disappointed. We try to always stay at Sheraton when we go places. Great hotels and affordable. Well, not this one! When checking in we asked to see if we could get a harbor view- we were told there are no rooms available with harbor view which is not true, because Online showed available rooms with harbor view and hotel was far from being full. Oh well, whatever. When we got to our room we realized there is no safe. Bummer. Oh well. And here is the best part started (please see pictures). ... Read more

This Hotel is in a great location on the water and very spacious however, it seems to be a bit mismanaged. I arrived with a group of ladies for a tennis tournament and we were met by a woman at the front desk who seemed to be having a bad day. We had booked several rooms and wanted to be close by which she reluctantly agreed to. I had a single room with two beds. The room looked like someone had torn the headboard on one of the beds, a lampshade was bent, and the doorstop looked like it was rip... Read more

stay here often for work, and I hear that the hotel is going to be renovated. It could use a facelift but the majority of things I'm complaining about is not associated with that. My room has comfortable beds with comfortable Linens, but is outdated. It's almost 2017 and I still have to unplug either the bedside lamp or clock in order for me to charge my cell phone by my side. The only available outlet is on the desk next to the TV. There's also the issue of navigating around all the cords tha... Read more

This typical Sheraton is in a fantastic downtown location. The rooms were big and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The parking is dislocated from the hotel but not too far away. The bar was a little lacking in atmosphere but I guess its a hotel not a bar. The food was good but a little on the pricey side, better options are just outside the door in downtown Norfolk. All of that said I would happily stay here again.

Arrived just before 3pm and room wasn't ready told to come back for 4pm which wasn't an issue as had driven from Washington DC so didn't mind a few drinks in the bar - went back to be told that we'd been upgraded from a city view to a harbour view (see pic) the room was dated and there was damage to the headboard! From the room you could hear the music piped out of the speakers in the lobby and was very loud. On check out wasn't asked if everything was OK which we have at all other places we've... Read more

We had a great time at the Sheraton Waterside in late September and we understand that they are going to be doing some upgrades next year. The hotel is on the water with great views and will be next door to the boutique shopping/dining area which will be handy. The restaurant presents a limited menu on some nights which made it challenging so we walked to near by restaurants which are many. The hotel is in a great location especially since they are on the water. The Marriott nearby was not o... Read more

I got the room for my best friends birthday we had a ball and enjoyed the view on the balcony, it was so cold out we had to look from inside though!

If you saw "Les Miserables", you probably remember the greasy, shady inn keeper, bragging about all the ways he rooks and cheats his guests. I kind of expected to see that character wandering around the the lobby, grinning about how thoroughly fleeced we all were. Let me tick off a few good reasons for you to try your hardest to find somewhere else to stay - first, the place is old, almost nothing I encountered the the grand structure was missing signs of age or poor upkeep. We were completely ignored when we went down to the bar to get something to eat. We had to clean our own table, get our own chairs for a party of 5. Had to go find someone to order food. Food came an hour later, totally cold (looked like it was made but sitting there without getting delivered. Had to get our own silverware. When I complained to the manager the next day, not a word of apology. I truly felt that everyone I encountered there simply didn't care about customer service.

Hosted a large event, several hundred people, and met with the venue 7 months ago. There was not adequate valet attendants available. Many of our guest that valet their cars had more and a 20 minute wait. Valet did not have radios to communicate with each other which made things even worse. Some of the finer details were not completed for the event which was a nuisance and they had 7 months get things in place. We ate there yesterday and were handed a paper menu with very little on it. Even though they were not busy, the service was very slow. We thought we had a reservation for six, but they tried to put us in a table for four. I would have had something good to say about the desert menu except that the item I ordered was not as described. Okay, at least the waiter was friendly when he did show up.

I just stayed at this hotel for 5 days for a conference. To save a little money and eat a little healthy, I brought down food to have for some of my meals. Most of this needed to be refrigerated. So, my only complaint about this hotel was the absence of a mini fridge and microwave. I feel like most any hotel has that nowadays. Luckily we had a cooler we could use and we filled some trash cans with ice too, but I still lost about half of my food before I could eat it all. And I was able to use t... Read more

The hotel offers a "green choice" option to guests with multiple night stays. If the guest is willing to forego having the room cleaned, the guest is to receive five dollars to spend in the restaurant. Five dollars is not a lot of money, but I thought, why not?. Well, the staff did not clean the room, but did not give me my voucher either. I asked the housekeeper, and he did not speak english, but referred me to the front desk. Good location and if you lucky you get a harbor view room, which is very nice. Stuff friendly and helpful. Overall , the hotel is old and "tired" rooms need an update. Coffee maker in room, but no fridge, microwave or safe. Valet parking is $25 a night! A bit steep if you ask me. Most important to me was that the hotel is pet friendly and free of charge. There are two parks near by to walk your pooch.
