The Hampton Inn is no more than five minutes from the naval base. But it's more than that - it's clean, the rooms all have microwaves and refrigerators, and the staff could not be nicer or more helpful. Ok, there's not much else nearby, but for this trip it was ideal.
Submitted on 25-05-2016
The staff was genuinely helpful and consistently friendly. The rooms were clean, no dust or mustiness, comfortable bed. Bathroom was more roomy than other hotels in this price range, (room for two to be in there at a time), with extra shelves and nice towels. The hot breakfast had great choices and was fresh and warm - there were several staff greeting people and making things run smoothly for everyone.

Hotel was good value for the money. Staff was very welcoming and helpful Breakfast area was awkwardly small by design. Our room had a musty smell but was very clean. Facility seemed very "no frills" but staff was very friendly. Great value using points for only 20,000 each night . There is a little strip mall next to the hotel.

no issues with the room; everything worked and was clean. Did not use the pool. Parking was free. Location was convenient. Breakfast could be better---would really liked to see in-season fruits such as strawberries and blueberries--there were a few fruits but meager. Staff was fine; parking free. Building starting to look a little threadbare but probably just needs another maintenance worker. Fast food within a mile. Somewhere around a 3.5 for this trip.

We love the Hampton inn, but this particular one did not meet our expectations compared to the multiple others that we have stayed at. This would be an average hotel, but knowing it was the Hampton inn made it "poor" because we were disappointed that it was not very family friendly.

This is our 3rd trip to the Naval Base in Norfolk to visit a family member stationed there. We have stayed at the Hampton Inn each time. During out last visit they were in the middle of a renovation and place never missed a beat. The renovation was a huge success. The rooms are modern, bright and spotless. The hallways and public areas have been redone and the staff are very friendly. We will definitely stay here again for our next visit.

We tried to get a place closer to Virginia Beach but everything was filled. We got a room here instead and found the extra few minutes drive were worth the effort. On both of our stays only 1 of the 4 ice machines works, bathroom exhaust fans have been removed, wardrobes are so heavy with air freshener we couldn't use them, only some electric receptacles work. I will recommend The Hamptons to all of my friends and family! I enjoyed everything this hotel offered. Next time I look forward to coming during the spring and summer. Beautiful indoor swimming pool.

The hotel was clean, staff friendly and helpful. I had a problem with the housekeepers letting the door slam shut while I was trying to sleep after working night shift. I complained about the problem, but I never was told anything was done about the problem. The housekeepers did not stop slamming the door.
