First of all, I was apprehensive due to some reviews I have read here, when I got there true to most reviews the outdoor surroundings are the best and bespoke of what the name is: The Founders Inn. The front desk personnel were courteous; Aside from the spa, they also have a shuttle going to the beach. We stayed for 2nights on the 3Rd floor of the main building, the rooms were small but felt clean and seemed to have been updated. We enjoyed the fact that it is right across a small shopping plaza a... Read more

I wanted to go to a beach town on the east coast that I've never been before during Memorial Weekend..and that would be Virginia Beach. I was annoyed at the $300-$400 per night rooms on or close to the promenade and almost scratched the whole idea. Then saw The Founders Inn and Spa right here on Trip Advisor. Most of the reviews are pretty much on-par regarding the grounds, room, pool. Some add-on's: We had a walk-in shower in our room with great water pressure. Large mirror and granite/t... Read more

I initially made a reservation for Friday night and then, a week ago, added Thursday night. The email confirmation arrived showing my reservation was now for Thursday and Friday. Upon checking in, I was told I had only reserved 1 night; I showed my email but that didn't help the check-in clerk, who said I would have two separate reservations and she hoped I could stay in the same room both nights. I drove a good distance (not good signage) to get to my building and found my room, going up wor... Read more

The bed was so bad I could barely get any sleep at all. Pillows are seriously lumpy. Sheets are not long enough even to cover the entire mattress. Carpet was damp from the humidity. Sink didn't drain. Restaurants are opened and closed based on group needs; not individual travelers. MY breakfast came with BOTH ends of the bread loaf, toasted. how does THAT happen? Wifi was fantastic! But, that's absolutely all. Management comped one night, which was appreciated. But, still...I will not be back.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant staff were excellent and the food was hot and very tasty. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed the amenities; spa & pool. The wedding reception was well staffed and beautifully decorated and this was 1 of 3 weddings that day. Bought a two night stay through Groupon for a very affordable price for the area. I stayed in a single queen bed room in one of the buildings closest to the lobby. It's a lovely property - especially if you're travelling with your dog - but not very convenient to the area's attractions and beaches. The rooms are decent, but not well-appointed and in need of refurbishment. The mattresses were not comfortable, and linens were in poor condition. If you all you want to do is have a comfortable place to stay with your dog, then this is a great spot for you. I ended up in building 4 on the first floor which turns out is the only place they are able to stay within the campus. My husband and I just came back from staying at the Founders Inn and I must say overall, it was a good experience. From the moment you arrive on the hotel's lobby, it gave me the aura of a huge college campus, with various benches and beautiful manicured gardens. Beautiful grounds, nice accommodations. This property is approximately a 15 minute drive from the VA Beach Coast, and they provide a shuttle. Unless you are lodging on the southern ocean facing part of Atlantic Avenue, you probably want to shuttle instead of driving, as the parking fees can be as much as $40.00 per day. However, if you must park try the Catholic Church for $10.00 instead. The food at the Swan Restaurant is pretty good and priced nicely. Don't forget to enjoy the spa!

One of the best I have stayed in. Nice resturant - great pool area Very very clean establishment. Front desk very friendly and nice. Maybe is because I am a FLight Attendant and most of us expect nothing more than abed to sleep in and what we were given was a lot more than that. Room on the third Floor was clean, nicely decorated, bed very comfortable. The property is very tranquil and relaxing for picnic, walking by the beautiful lake, or just sitting on one of the many benches to read a book.. Ate at the "Hunt" restauran... Read more

This hotel is so convenient to everything you'd want to do in Virginia Beach! Hotel offers a shuttle to and from the oceanfront. It's well kept and the grounds are beautiful. There is something for everyone with an indoor and outdoor pool, a spiral slide, hot tub, gym room, spa, playground for kids, and pet park to walk your dog. I enjoyed watching the swan every morning while drinking my coffee. I recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back soon!

The hotel was clean and the staff courteous and efficient. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There was too much noise in the hallway but otherwise I have no complaints. I would stay there again and would recommend the hotel to others.

Visited this facility for a business meeting. The Conference area is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was friendly and willing to provide anything that you requested. The food ranged from average to very good depending on your preferences and what you were given. I would suggest this venue for a wedding or other large company event.

It is a wonderful colonial-style place. Clean and cozy rooms, courteous service. We totally loved this place. The only one disadvantage is the location. It takes 15-20 min to get to the beach area. Fortunately, there is complimentary transportation to/from the hotel at daytime (about every hour) and Uber for the rest. But when we stayed in such a beautiful area (with indoor and outdoor pool as well) we didn't even want to go to the beach :) And it was sooo inexpensive in comparison to the beach ... Read more

This is more of a resort than a hotel! Beautiful grounds, pools, tennis courts, spa. It is contiguous with Regent University, so the setting is green and extensive. I had a conference rate which was extraordinarily reasonable. I think Founder's Inn is a luxury bargain.

My husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating our first anniversary at the Founders Inn and Spa. The room and grounds were very romantic just what we were looking for and the couples massage was the "cherry on top."

My husband and I stayed at the Founder's Inn with our dog, Sammie for three nights. We had a wonderful time, even though the weather was rainy for two days. The rate for Sammie was very inexpensive (a one time charge of $29 plus tax). There is a fenced in area for pets and he was able to run around without any worries on our part. This was our fourth stay there (first time with Sammie). We enjoyed going to the Farm Bureau Live to see the concerts (Billy Joel, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley twice) but... Read more

Pros - Beautiful grounds for weddings, pictures, etc. Front desk staff were very nice, easy check in. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Two bottles of water were provided in room upon check in, and after they cleaned. Super convenient to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores. Cons - Hallway to rooms smelled strongly of chemicals (or air fresheners?), but not in room. Card scanner at front door of building inoperable, door unlocked.

The Founders One Bedroom Suite with parlor was beautiful, huge, and amazing. I was there to graduate from Grad school with my family. It was beautiful! The room was perfect so we did not want to leave it! We will definitely return. The restaurant and breakfast are fantastic. It is child-friendly with many, many activities for them. The pool, spa, and pond are amazing! The workout center is great! The beds are amazing!! This is a must see colonial style hotel!

The room, location, amenities, food, and staff are consistently excellent; however, the policies of the hotel need to change. The room cost, for Regent University students, is higher than the AAA rate, which is quite twisted, and not in a good way, when you think about it. Also, they do not accommodate stranded travelers very well, reflecting poorly on the Hotel, the University, and Pat Robertson. I'm very disappointed in them and am considering other options for future travel even though I l... Read more

Staying while attending a conference and was very pleased with my room. So much space; high quality materials and construction; nice furniture and very clean. I called the desk to ask if the two bottles of water are complimentary or would I be charged. No charge and when I only used one the first day, the still left me two! Would be nice to just leave a note to say the water is complimentary. Large screened TV with an above average TV channel guide. Lots of towels and linens of hi... Read more

I visited this hotel for a wedding and was very impressed by the outside venue! The place is beautiful for an outdoor wedding, especially in the evening with all of the beautiful lights. They did a good job organizing the wedding and the food was also good. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. If anyone asked for the restroom or a specific place in the hotel the staff made sure to accompany them to that location. The rooms of the hotel were a little outdated but they represented the venue ... Read more

I surprised my husband with a short getaway to this hotel. We loved it. The grounds and rooms are so beautiful and well maintained. I love that you get that B&B vibe in the rooms. We also visited the Flowering Almond Spa. Such a great experience. A true spa experience with robes and a conversatory and light snacks. The location of the hotel is great. So close to so many other things. You have to splurge and get reservations at Swan Terrace. Yummy food. I love that there's something so nice right... Read more

I was in town for a family emergency. I got a room at the last minute. They have a great military discount and the rooms were gorgeous. Everything is very colonial but it fits witth the formal gardens in the courtyard and the old Virginia theme. If you can just go with it, you get a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price. There is a spa and an amazing breakfast buffet. My breakfast was included with my room rate. I would definitely come back here if I am back in Virginia Beach and not staying Ocea... Read more

This used to be a top hotel but is now showing signs of aging. The furniture is dated and needs to be replaced especially in the hotel rooms. The common areas are also showing its age along with the restaurants and conference areas. The "coffee" express is mediocre and I found it worth the five minute drive to Starbucks for much better coffee. I'm appalled that they still use styrofoam cups for the to go cups. The staff was friendly and helpful. The main draw of the hotel is its location which i... Read more

Let's start with the positive. The room was clean and neat. The bed was comfortable and everything worked satisfactorily. The staff was friendly and mostly responsive. The negatives are going to sound picky, but to us it's what separates a good hotel from a great one. Day one, the in-room coffee maker only had setups for two cups of coffee; one regular and one decaf. I ended up getting coffee from the restaurant and was charged for them. Somewhat understandable. Day two, I find that there... Read more
