My experience wasn't that pleasant unfortunately. The cleanliness of the hotel was not up to par. As soon as me and my husband entered the room there was a roach in our bathroom. The one thing that I actually enjoyed about my stay was the cable, other than that I don't plan on returning back.

We were in town for Aunt's 100th birthday party. The timing of the maid service was not good, for the 5 day stay they cleaned the room only once. They did come to the door when we were not ready about 9:45 and we asked for more towels, we save towels to reuse, but needed a few more. They never came back to clean that day and only cleaned the day before we left the next morning. Everything else was fine, front desk folks were nice and hotel was fairly comfortable for the price.

Good value. Appliances should be on a shelf rather than stacked on the floor blocking access to one side of the bed. Many of us use Cpap machines and there were no convinent outlets for one. No one was at the front desk during checkout so i could not get a copy of bill.

This hotel has people just hanging in the lobby who are not guests. The hotel has an odor when you walk in, looks unkept and just isn't inviting. We had to ask to have our room sprayed and left the window open to try to get rid of the odor. Entire hotel smells of a mixture of cigarette smoke and mildew, just awful. Though my family paid for this hotel room we ended up leaving and going to a different hotel across the street. We will never waste our money here again. We thought because it n... Read more

I rarely write reviews b/c you can always find good and bad things about hotels, but....came here on graduation weekend/softball tournament...aside from the expected small rooms(REALLY small), the walls were darkly painted walls, outside unkept (screen out of room on landscaping), you could tell not kept up, paid for added refrig but really no room for it (so don't pay unless really in need), dirty room(especially in corners), bathroom questionable, stained lobby chairs, unkept breakfast area (a... Was in the area on business and decided to try and save a little on expenses, but I think I may have set the bar a little TOO low. This motels cleanliness was not the best or anywhere near what I usually expect when I travel. Room was cramped and dirty and there is an odor that permeates the whole hotel. The worst part was the shady clientele that seems the frequent these low end hotels. I questioned the staff about the activities going on in and around the hotel but they couldn't have cared ... The front desk employees, very friendly and kind. The room (double bed) to include: decor, beds, bathroom, heating/air conditioning, carpet, shower, linen, lights all need 21st century renovation. I have nothing bad nor good to mention. I will not stay again; my son participated in youth baseball tournament.

The oder was a bit overbearing both in the hallway and rooms, but I tolerated it do to total weariness from my travel. I had to request housekeeping to vac my carpet because it needed it du... The hotel room had the sheet rock in the bathroom over the toilet falling in. There was water dripping from the ceiling, presumably from the toilet/bathroom above. The water dripped onto the toilet seat...so any time you used the restroom there was God knows what type of water dripping on you. Upon discovering this at check in, we went to the desk attendant and were told he could do nothing because the manager was not on site. He stated there were no other rooms available. The first thing that hits you is the smell of stale cigarettes. The manager is rude and dismissive. His attitude was I don't care go to another hotel. The rooms are fairly clean save the bathtubs which were nasty. The cleaning staff do not speak English or Spanish which caused an issue with staff walking in on family members getting dressed even with do not disturb signs placed on the door. My wife and I stayed here again for one night at the end of July 2016. It had been 4 years since our last stay here. The location is not too bad in terms of access to I64, although there are more convenient hotels. That said, there is a Wendy‚??s nearby and Patrick Henry Mall is just across the street. We‚??d give this a 4 for location, therefore. Check in was fast and easy. Everyone was nice. So we‚??d give service a 5. Parking in front was easy. The rear outside entrance keycard rea... Read more

We just came back from 10 nights at the Microtel in Newport News. We have been here a number of times in the past few years which is why we came back. The hotel is located only 1/4 mile from the 255-A exit of South I-64 about 15 minutes south of Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens/Water Country USA, and about 45 minutes north of Virginia Beach. Generally, I love microtels. They're affordable, clean, and no-frills, just what I like! This was the first microtel that felt like a budget motel - or worse. The interior was best described as dingy, and the room, while yes, it had been cleaned (hence two stars instead of one) had ground in stains on various surfaces. The elevator reeked of smoke. The front desk staff was pleasant but under-trained. And, finally, there was a random michael's grocery cart, hanging out in the hallway, as if w... Read more
