Chose this hotel for convenience to events I was attending and facilities available in the area. Close to local restaurants and convenience shopping. My second time at this hotel. Good value for money. Complimentary breakfast much appreciated.

I found that it is pretty dingy and a bit dirty, and it is true that you can hear a lot of noise coming through the walls. Take a big fan to create white noise. The internet and breakfast are good, and the pool was fine for my kids. The TVs are also nice. I would say it's not a treat to stay there but it's acceptable.

The exterior of the building looks good as does the lobby and breakfast area. The room is where I had trouble. Although it looks like it had been painted recently, the sitting area, where you enter, looked dingy. The bedroom was at the back of the room with a door that separated it from the sitting area, allowing only limited natural light. The sitting area had two table lamps and a wall sconce but still seemed dark. Upon inspection the paint job was not of good quality. Some of the door ... Read more

Hotel was clean and aptly located on outside Newport News main strip. Room was clean and furniture in decent shape. Bedding and sheets were average but clean. Walls are paper thin so room not very quiet and not very conducive to good nights rest when you have noisey neighbors.

I enjoyed my stay except for the problems with the room keys during my stay. The floor in the room had some kind of sticky material on it near the bed area. Otherwise, the breakfast, comfort and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

For the past three years we have stayed at this hotel for 7 nights each time. The first year we had a suite on the second floor which was nice. The past two years we have had the handicap accessible room on the first floor. Not sure why we had this room or if it was due to our length of stay as we didn't need this type of room. The first night we slept on the sheets but wanted fresh ones as they were a little stale. After that we didn't care about new sheets but did want fresh towels. We c... Read more

It was the worst stay in a hotel from check in to check out. A booked 3 night stay, ended in a 1 night stay. Terrible customer service. The rooms were dirty, The bedding was stained. There was a moldy smell about the room. A real creepy feeling.

The hotel is run down and in desperate need of an overhaul. The carpets are old and dirty. The rooms smelled musty and moldy. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful when we complained aboutthe snoring next door keeping us awake.

The room we were given was literally crawling with ants. There is no way housekeeping could have missed this. We had to scramble late at night to find another hotel in the area. We only found another room due to a cancellation at another hotel.

We were staying at this hotel for a gymnastics camp for our daughter. We checked in a 4pm and went to dinner came back to the room and took the kids to the pool. The hot tub was green, and running and not covered, the tile in the pool room had a slime film around on it, and finally the pool did not have any chemicals. We only stayed there for 20 minutes then headed back to our room. The beds were not made, just the comforter tossed over the sheets, the floor hadn't been vacuumed, the bed ski... Read more

I recently, back in February 2016 booked a room for 3 days on government travel. As so many times in the government travel dates, times and location changes because of the mission. I was not aware that I had two reservation in there system. What have was one reservation was cancelled and the other reservation wasn't. I feel that I should have been notified through e-mail or when I called to cancel the reservation I was told that it was canceled and I assumed I was canceling the reservation that ... Read more

Beds are uncomfortable, bedding is old, a/c rattles the windows when it runs, and the trash truck comes at 4:00 am. Hilton should be ashamed to be associated with this hotel. Not a place for sleep or rest!

When we checked in to our queen SUITE we found the pull out sofa covered in stains. When we pulled out the sofa it was broken and being held together with coat hangers. Night manager said he'd bring a roll out bed. After waiting over an hour told him to forget it.

I've been to worse. The hotel is in need of updating. Stains on room carpets, stained hallway carpets, loud heat and air units, and crazy layout in the hot tub room. The staff was really nice but the overall quality was kinda dirty and outdated. Our original room had a messed up door lock so we were upgraded into the hot tub room that was really large with an old style giant hot tub sitting next to the bed. The TV in the room worked fine but the remote wasn't programed to the TV right so I had t... Read more

I have stayed at MANY Country Inn this was by far the WORST: This was a 4th of July vacation for me and my family. Turn out to be VERY frustrating. Check in the room the smell was horrible, the lock broke on the door; then the worst part the toilet over flowed water everywhere (this all happen within 30mins). So we had to pack up and move to another room. Got in there smell was the same the room right by the Ice machine that went on ALL NIGHT. No fridge was in the room it was total missing was t... Clean and comfortable in a quiet and safe environment. Good hot breakfast with something for everyone. Didn't take advantage of the amenities but looked very nice. We left the beach and were heading to Water Country, great 1/2 way point.

My family checked into this hotel on Friday evening July 29th for a two night stay. There were 4 towels and 2 wash cloths in the room for a family of 4. We requested additional towels and wash cloths for our stay and received them. Unfortunately while we were out at the beach for the day on Saturday, our towels and wash cloths were removed and we were left with again 2 wash cloths. When we requested more we were told that they would be available in 2 hours. By the time we returned from din... Read more

This is a terrible hotel. Stained bedclothes -- when we asked for new, were told that "head of housekeeping" would come and see why -- never showed up. No toilet paper in the bathroom. Asked for more towels, never received them. Mysterious white powder all over sofa. Overall very dirty room -- giant rip in dustcover of bed. No help at all from hotel staff. AVOID THIS PLACE!

My husband and I travel a lot in summer and we always try to stay at Country Inns and Suites, however this one was such a let down!!! The room was not clean, I wiped cobwebs from the walls, there were not any tissues in the room, we stayed for three nights asked for replacement, the excuse was the "truck did not come". Each morning when our room was made up the housekeeper took our towels, great...but never replenished them, each day I had to go to the front desk and ask for towels, the excuse.... Read more

Let me start off by saying wshoule have used this hotel several times over the past 6 years and can say it is heading in the wrong direction. Rooms smelled of smoke despite being non smoking hotel. Desk clerk just shrugged his shoulders and said hotel was sold out. Parents stayed in room across from us and had no towels or tp. When they asked for the tp were told by same clerk they did not have any. They left after first night and did not stay a second. Room had badly stained carpets to go alo... Read more

The staff is awful. They did nothing to help. We had to ask for towels both days. And they were grudging given to us. The room smelled so bad we had to buy an air freshener. The room was in disarray. The phone and alarm clock did not work. I went down to complain and the desk clerk was more interested in her call than listening to what I had to say. So when I asked for the manager to complain, I got a response of I didn't do it, I just work at the desk.

Upon checking in we didn't take our things in right away, instead dropped by the grocery store across the street. When we came in a little later and went up to the room we get into the room and begin to put away our things. First I went to the rest room and we had less then a quarter roll of toilet paper and no new one. Then I went to put the food in the fridge and it was hot because the freezer was frozen over, finally the cable did not work on the TV. I went downstairs to inform the staff and ... Read more

This is a little gem tucked inside Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. Good location for tourists and business travelers alike as it is close to the main highways. Friendly atmosphere generated by the hotel staff. Although a chain hotel, feels homey.

I look to stay at Country Inn's because I have found them to be clean & in good shape. There was nothing horrible at this one, just not up to their standards. Carpets were stained, as well as the curtains, cabinet where fridge is was broken. There was a locked closet in the room with a vent on it, I'm assuming a utility room, the vent was covered in a thick layer of dust. It definitely needs some updating, I don't think it was worth the price.

Outdated hotel, no glitz or glamour. Breakfast serves very average food, no real fruit, no yogurt. I don't think the eggs were real eggs. Cramped area for eating, navigating around. Pool was teeny tiny.
