I expected more. Rooms were definitely clean which is very important. But bathroom had ordinary plastic tub... not a nice shower. Check in staff not helpful or all. One of them could not even manage Complementary breakfast was good. Coffee also very good. Not a bad place..but not really worth the price.

The grounds are beautiful and you can eat breakfast on an open porch overlooking the lawns (weather permitting). The breakfast is excellent with plenty of healthy options. Hampton Inn has restored the previous Governors mansion, Col Alto- a beautiful, elegant federal treasure. In addition to regular rooms you may be lucky enough to stay in one of the historic rooms. I recommend paying the slightly higher rate to do this. The mansion has a wonderful group of staff that know how to take care of the weary traveller. This hotel is on the outskirts of Lexington, a cute town just off highway 81.

Main building was quaint but not particularly functional. This is the price one pays for staying in an historical building. The front desk staff was slow and despite arriving at 5PM for a reservation made months ago, our room wasn't ready. Room itself was nothing more than what looked like a converted motel with a bathroom that looked like it was designed for a prison. Lexington, Virginia is a wonderful town. There is a lot of history. In an easy walk to downtown is the Hampton Inn. The centerpiece is an antebellum house that serves as the reception area and breakfast area. It is like stepping back in time. The rooms are not in the home but attached. The rooms are good sized and clean. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn in Lexington

My 4 person family stayed overnight here on the way to Virginia Beach. The main part of the hotel may be historic, but our 2 queen bed room was up to date, large, and clean. We were very happy with our room. The walkways through the courtyard made it easy to get back and forth from your room and the main check in/eating area. There was plenty of parking as well. This hotel is a gem -- built around a brick mansion from early 1800s, only 3 blocks from downtown Lexington. Reception, breakfast, and some guest rooms are in original house, with most rooms in a connected L (also brick). Our room was in the wing -- spacious, quiet, with a covered balcony overlooking the small pool and jacuzzi. We stay in Hampton Inns frequently, this is definitely the nicest we've seen. This is a beautiful hotel with a friendly staff and a great location to downtown Lexington. My daughter and I truly enjoyed our stay. I am not giving the full excellent rating because I felt the bathroom could have been a little cleaner where the tile and grout were. Most of the rooms are standard Hampton Inn rooms. Very nice, very predictable, very clean, you know what you are getting. The rooms in the old plantation house (there are maybe 6-7) are Hampton Inn rooms, too, but with the charm of the historic home they're in. Additionally, the service I received making the reservation and during the stay was excellent. The General Manager went out of his way to help me wash off my family's bicycles after getting muddy. Interesting Hampton Inn: An historical manor house with authentic rooms and a modern hotel situated on a beautiful site. No problems at all. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The town center with many shops and some dining is one half mile down the hill.

A great gem of a hotel! We would definitely stay here again. Not your average Hsmpton Inn. Beautiful grounds, within walks distance to town. Helpful staff, and winderful rooms. We come to Lexington often, and thus is now our #1 spot!

Nice quaint hotel close to downtown Lexington. Rooms are spacious an nice. Breakfast is good and served in a cozy room. The whole hotel has kept its feeling of a old colonial house but still modern with good technological features.

This was a nice experience in a handsome classic mansion. We will definitely plan to stay here on our next trip to the Lexington VA area and have told others about our experience at this Hampton Inn facility.

We make a special stop to visit Lexington on our trip from Florida to Rochester,NY and have stayed at this Hampton several times. We have found the service and facilities to be consistently well above average. The good news - the rates were less this year. It is not a typical Hampton design but done as a historic home and addition.

I highly recommend the Hampton Inn in Lexington. It feels like an historic home in the main part of the building, but has the excellent amenities of a brand new Hampton Inn. The service is top notch, and it is just a minute or two from W&L. Very convenient for visiting campus.

Stayed one night and it was perfect. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was great (omelettes and seasoned potatoes). The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. The best part of the stay was that the curtains blocked all outside light at night.

Helpful friendly staff went out of their way to accomodate the VMI parents. Great facilities and location to VMI Post. Love the outdoor balconies and porches that were available to allow socializing with our Cadet, Brother Rats and other families. Great Breakfast and nice welcome package for VMI Parents. I also love the emails we received before our stay and the emailed receipt.

Have stayed at this beautiful and unusual Hampton a number of times. Even though we stayed in the hotel rooms in the modern wing, you are able to experience the elegant old house at breakfast and for just relaxing in a parlor anytime. The house sits on an acre or two on a hill amid the trees yet is within blocks of Lexington's charming downtown. There is even a log cabin at the back of the property! Rooms are clean and well maintained and there is an attractive canopied walk to the big house fro... Read more

Stayed there Oct 12-13 while returning home from the northeast. Was blown away by this Hampton Inn. It is set on beautiful grounds in the historic section of Lexington. The rooms are clean, roomy and quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel. Not only is it beautiful, it is moderately priced too!

Great location for a couples retreat or a families getaway. We enjoyed a peaceful morning walk of the estate while drinking coffee and watched the light fog rise toward the mountains. The staff was fantastic and we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony while winding down our evenings.

We had a wonderful visit to Lexington, VA. This hotel is conveniently located to the center of town, Washington & Lee and VMI. It was clean, comfortable and the staff very accommodating. The coffee and complimentary breakfast were very good. The property is very unique. It's main building is not a typical home and a cabin sits on the property.

Have been a guest at this Inn several times a year for many years. This was a most distinguished Hampton Inn for most of that time. Guests were greeted by front desk personell with a friendly welcome, offers to aid travelers in finding sites of interest to visit and advise on dining available in the lovely ,historic town. Usually staff was well attired and neat. Rooms were above the standard for the chain. No longer On recent visits including two within this month poorly dressed staff gave a... Read more

We were in Virginia to check out colleges for my granddaughter. We booked ahead of time finding the facility thru HHonors website. After booking, we received confirmation and hen from the actual facility we received a welcoming letter from the manager. We absolutely loved the hotel with all the historical information that went with it. The staff was helpful and continued to check in us throughout the time we were there. Wonderful breakfast and just a wonderful time while we are there.
