Hotel was further away from the resort than noted on the website & was very misleading. The hot tub didn't work & that was very disappointing since we were expecting to use it after a day on the mountain.

I had a confirmed reservation in this hotel, guaranteed for late arrival. We arrived late in the evening from a multiple state drive to drop my son off at JMU. Despite having paid ahead of time for my room and guaranteeing a late arrival, they gave my room to someone else. We ended up with a room that only had one bed for three people. They did not have a roll away bed or extra bedding/towels. My son had to sleep on the floor! The manager did not at all try to accommodate us and was rude an... Read more

This hotel is fine for a quick stay overnight, we stayed here while visiting JMU. If you are going to Massanutten, it is much better to stay in Massanutten as it is a drive from any Harrisonburg hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was delicious. The only disappointing thing was that the hot tub was broken, but the pool was fine and many families seemed to be enjoying it.

This is our eighth consecutive night in an HIE, and by a wide margin the worst. This property is in desperate need of an upgrade. The bed of old and well worn. No table next to the chair. The laminate is falling off the night table. The bathroom fan is quite loud and cannot be shut off. No morning newspaper (desk clerk said they must all be gone at 7:30, yet parking lot still full). On the plus side the check in clerk was very pleasant and even apologized for the fact they don't have evening ... Read more

We stayed two nights while visiting JMU. The hotel is just a few miles south of campus and is easy to find. The staff is polite, well-spoken, and very helpful. The two queen bedroom was clean and quiet, and the beds themselves were very comfortable. Housekeeping staff does an excellent job. The only complaint I might offer was that the toilet seat was flimsy, and I honestly felt that I might take an unexpected plunge while in communion with mother nature. That being said, the breakfast off... Read more

I asked the man working there for help checking into a room, and he seemed as though he was in a very bad mood. He proceeded to talk down to me and basically insulted me when I had trouble finding my room. I believe his name was Scott. Terrible customer service, luckily other staff members were friendly and were able to assist me. I guess every tree has a bad apple!

Front desk clerk Jack was very helpful. Hotel was clean, basic layout. Room was spacious and included a small refrigerator. Ample parking and building was secure requiring a room key to enter via side doors. Breakfast was surprisingly plentiful. Basic fare, coffee bar, eggs, sausage, biscuits and cereals. Didn't use the pool or hot tub. Very heavy chlorinated. We stayed in room 318 and it had an electrical outlet in the corner that had obviously overheated at some point. Lamp on writing desk had... We stopped here in the middle of our long road home. The room was nice. It was a typical room. The air conditioner worked very well! The cinnamon rolls were fantastic! We didn't go to the pool since we just slept there. Rachel was a sweetheart! Very personable. Great place to stay for a quick over night.

The front desk person was courteous and quick at getting me checked in. It's a great location right off the highway but still quiet. The room was very clean. The kcup coffee machine is definately a plus. However, the room lacked plug ins on the bedside table lamps so I had to go in search of a wall outlet to plug my phone in for the night. I unplugged the lamp to do that. The chair in the room was nice but it really should have a little table next to it. The bed was clean and comfortable enough... Read more

I love the fact that this place is super clean and smoke free! The rooms are spacious, they have soaps and mouthwash in the bathroom, not to mention the beds are actually very very comfortable. They have a pool and the wifi works great. They also have a great breakfast set up! I'd definitely stay here again.

Check in was a breeze...quick, pain free, professionally dressed and a great personality! Unfortunately, they're the only ones...the tall thin breakfast lass, one morning, has zero personality and the "red head" at the morning counter dresses poorly for the position she is in, looks disheveled and doesn't return "good mornings"...maybe she's tired, I don't know. The room is average but sometimes average is a good thing since it comes at a pretty good price. Well amended including a fridge/free... Read more

Very nice place to stay. We stayed for a week in their King executive suite. We had a king size bed, pull out queen sofa bed, and a rollaway twin size bed. Some family came out during the week and slept on the queen sleeper sofa, my daughter slept on the twin rollaway bed and my husband and I on the king bed. Only problem we experienced was our keys had some issues and we had to call down for extra bath essentials when housekeeping forgot to clean our room. Otherwise very nice people who were ve... Overall the stay was fantastic. The staff was polite and helpful especially the lady working front desk that evening, the rooms where clean and comfortable. The breakfast was actually surprisingly good for being hotel quality! I would highly recommend staying a night if you are passing through!

Stopped in on the drive home after a two night hiking/camping trip near Dryfork. The rooms were nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. They have a indoor pool and hottub...which was out of order. They have a washer and dryer on the second floor so you can wash clothes. The washer and dryer are coin operated and two dollars each. The free hot breakfast was nice with many options and coffee 24 hours a day. Rachel checked us in and she was always nice and helpful with any request we had.

Good, clean hotel at a decent price. Could not get logged into the free WiFi. Also, the wooden bathroom door had swollen from the humidity & would no longer shut all the way. (I'll never understand why so many hotels don't install vents in the bathroom!) We reported both issues at checkout. Bed was comfortable, though the room was a little tight with two queen beds. The breakfast was your typical Holiday Inn Express continental & was kept well stocked.

Stayed here solo as I took my son down to visit JMU and over the weekend. This hotel was right on E. Main St. about 2.8 miles away from JMU. Very easy to navigate to and from the University from here. Several nice places to eat nearby as well as Joe's Griddle and Grill located in the Truck stop next door. Very neat and clean, safe with well lit parking areas, lobby and hallways. Room was neat, clean and to my surprise had a microwave and a decent little refrigerator. Also had a Keurig coff... We don't often stay in Holiday Inn but could not locate one of our other choices, so we thougth we splurge at bit and stay at the HI Express. We were disappointed. As others have written, I could not get into the Free WiFi. We also had a swollen bathroom door and what sounded like a ventilation noise coming from the bathroom. The room was comfortable and a quiet nights sleep...So we over look minor inconveniences. The breakfast is another story. HI appears to be looking out for my health by on... Read more

This Holiday Inn Express is well located to VA 81 and is within a few miles of a variety of restaurants. It is close to a number of fast food choices as well. The common areas are well maintained making the facility seem newer than my experience in the room. Our king bed on the 3rd floor was ok. The upholstered chair and ottoman were mildly stained and worn. The padding on the ottoman was so worn the center of the ottoman felt like wood. The room was ample in size and the tv was large ... We waited until the last minute to make reservations and had a hard time finding anything. Luckily, the Holiday Inn Express still had a suite left. Nice big room with desk, couch, coffee table, wet bar area and large bath. The breakfast each morning was included and they had everything you could want. Eggs, bacon, omelets, pancakes, cereal, yogurt, etc. The location was convenient to 81, so it was a cinch to get places. We were on third floor and towards back of hotel so very quiet. We enjoyed ... At the last minute I had to book an overnight stay near James Madison University. I was very happy to find that the HI Express was available. It was clean, convenient and comfortable. They conveniently provided the usual toiletries. Bed was comfy. I had a desk to finish up some emails while watching tv. The staff was polite and friendly.

Traveling to and from PA to Gatlinburg TN, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Harrisonburg. This is an excellent hotel with very comfortable beds. Also had a small refrigerator in the room since we had several cold items for our travel time. Located just off VA 81 with gas station next to it and several restaurants near by. Great staff at this hotel.
