We love Hampton Inns. This one has always been our first choice when visiting Harrisonburg. Staff is very friendly. Beds are SUPER comfortable. Complimentary breakfast and afternoon cookies are great. Our refrigerator didn't work on this visit, but it is still worth a five star rating. I loved that they even offered a complimentary make up remover wipe in the bathroom! It's the little things.

Located right off of I81 & a short distance from JAMES MADISON University and downtown Harrisonburg. As always, beds comfortable, staff friendly, breakfast hot & fresh and clean hotel. 1 suggestion, read the directions for using the shower (new process to Us). Lots of good food & attractions to see close by.

The clean rooms and friendly staff were the same on my last two stays. Thank you. Also, this hotel had an indoor pool for those rainy or cold days. Breakfast is always a bonus in my book. Hot coffee and hot items to choose from.

I spend many, many nights in Harrisonburg and this hotel is a gem. The hotel is clean, the staff super friendly, the rooms nice and quiet and dark. It is conveniently located right off the interstate. Their are several hotels closer to the restaurants and downtown Harrisonburg, but this hotel is worth driving the extra exit or two.

This Hampton Inn is just off I-81 and within 10 minutes of the James Madison University campus and downtown Harrisonburg. The hotel property is relatively new and hotel service is excellent. Our room was consistent with other Hampton Inn properties, clean, comfortable, adequate space and everything in working order. Breakfast items were fresh and well-prepared. Farms are nearby the hotel; when the wind is right, the animal smell is strong.

We booked a room through Hilton honors, checked in online, arrived at 11 pm to loud people carrying on outside & inside the hotel who just came from a wedding, even at this time of night the front desk agent didn't ask them to quiet down. I couldn't even check in be cause they were in the lobby near the desk being very loud, one guy rollersjating around the lobby & hall where people's rooms were. My son was graduating from James Madison University. We stayed here back in 2012 and enjoyed the hotel very much, so I was hoping to be able to get a room during graduation weekend. Since there were 7 of us, I booked 3 rooms, one with Hilton Honors points. The hotel is very reasonable the rest of the year, but during graduation weekend, they mark up the price over 300%. All the other hotels were also highly marked up, so there was no choice but to pay. The staff was great. Just like when w... Read more

The Hampton Inn South is the best hotel i've stayed in when stopping for the night in Harrisonburg. From the moment we walked in, Maura, the desk hostess was wonderful! We were traveling with my 4 and 6 year old grandchildren and she made a fuss over them and treated them like special guests! My granddaughter found someone's butterfly ring in the room and she thanked her and told her she would put it in the lost and found. She recommended Pano's Restaurant to us and it was excellent! No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Other than that it was all good -- front desk, bountiful breakfast, fresh fruit at entrance, quiet location, inviting bed and pillow, warm evening cookies ran out fast so don't wait, indoor pool, signs on the elevator doors relax you and make you smile ??? Nice hotel in the middle of an industrial area. Room was good -- could not hear highway noise or noise from the many trucks driving past hotel. The toilet made a horrible noise every now & then -- due to it running if you didn't jiggle the handle right. Nice breakfast area with very pleasant staff and a nice selection of food.

When we got to our room, the hand-held part of the shower didn't work. In addition to that, the TV closed captioning wouldn't work. I went to the desk and reported these problems. While the lobby of this Hampton Inn is nicely updated, the same can't be said for the rooms. The furniture in our room was a mix of old/outdated and new and the attempt at fresh paint was clearly a failed one. The uncomfortably firm bed was paired with pillows that were in complete contrast and the combination made for a poor night's sleep.

Hotel is pretty good, ample parking, comfy bed, helpful staff and a good location for my travels that week! One thing that did put a slight dampener on the room was the air con, although an essential in this part of the world it was pretty noisy so I'd strongly recommend checking the settings before bed! No restaurant on site, breakfast is buffet style and there's plenty of places you can go to locally in the evening
