It is in a nice suburban area, so is very quite. The room is clean. The people are very nice. The location is not within walking distance to the metro, but it is compensated by a free shuttle service. The only issue I encountered is the shower control, I cannot pull the switch all the way so only a fraction of water goes to the shower head. But it has enough flow for me to take a shower. I definitely will stay in the place next time I go to DC.

No heat in our room, got 2 different answers on 2 different days. Holes in the walls under the sinks. Blood on shower curtain. Maid service only replaced 1 towel and left us with no clean wash clothes or hand towels.

Don't believe the reviews, those who thought this was a nice hotel, never stayed at a nice hotel. This is a big step down from a nice hotel. Like a room where nothing works, where the bathtub doesn't drain and you are in standing water to shower, where the plugs are falling out of the wall, how about noise this is the place for you. 1950's hotel, "right" this place hasn't been touched since 1950! Breakfast was the pits, tables were dirty, the table cloths appeared to have been on the tables for ... Read more

I mean - what can you expect for $83 a night? As usual on this type of roadside Inn in US, the carpets are dirty and smelly, the AC sounds like a jet engine, the bathtub hasn't been cleaned properly for years. But - what did you expect? The bed linens were clean, pillow soft and I was in heaven. The breakfast was so called continental, but complementary. Not much to write home about, and the breakfast room was dark and dirty. But I got filled up and never got sick to my stomach the 5 days I was ... Read more

Stayed here May 16 and 17th.This place is awful. The only thing we enjoyed was the young man with the bow tie at the front desk. He was terrific. The place smelled horrible. We had to open the window because it stunk. The pillows were 3 pillows the size of little pillows on a couch. The beds were ok but the bed spreads had cigarette burn holes in them. The bathroom was nasty and old. The bath tub kept dripping and while showing after 10 minutes the hot water went to luke warm. The sink on the ou... Read more

Quiet site a few minutes ride by the hotel shuttle or uber from the metro. 40 minutes and you are in the centre. Staff are really friendly and helpful. I'll be back with the family. Breakfast is simple but has scrambled eggs, toast, cereal and the waffle maker

Very disappointed in the room/accommodation for the price. I agree with other reviews, there is a smell to the room-musty mildew. Especially when turning on the ac-which sounds like a mack truck running. I was staying for a week for business-and had to buy an oscillating fan to keep the air moving in the room. I was excited about having a pool to relax-until seeing scum on the tiles at the waters edge and dirt all over the bottom. I spoke to the pool man, who told me the motor doesn't work and t... We recently stay at this hotel for two days. The first day, we noticed that the room and bathroom were dirty. Further, we noticed spiders in the room. In the morning, we noticed that window curtain had fallen down. when called for repair, it took a while to fix it. The breakfast was terrible. We were given a different room on the second day. This room was also dirty and there were spiders in all corners.

This place was misrepresented by Trivago as being a Comfort Inn with points when it is totally independent. It is about 8 miles from DC and not far from Arlington. My room was clean enough with a flat screen TV and vanities both in and outside the bathroom. There is no independent AC control and there was stale smoke was coming through the AC at night in a non-smoking room. The breakfast includes hot entrees every day (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits, etc. in addition to the cont... Read more

This 1959 vintage hotel is a little shabby, but offers free shuttle service to the Metro to D.C., free breakfast buffet, and a pool. Bedding was quality and staff helpful. However, adjacent restaurant is not open for dinner, and pool is not open in the morning.

We stayed for one night and had a very quiet and restful experience. The hotel is obviously older, but a good value. The double room was spacious and although the bathroom was small, we had all the conveniences necessary for our stay. The front desk staff was cheerful and a response for an item we lacked was delivered within 3 minutes. Breakfast was in a building adjacent to the main one. It was a hot buffet with a great selection of food. Although there is a major highway very close, we heard n... Read more

I have stayed at this location 4 times over the past 3 year for an annual event. This time, I asked for an iron board and was told that they did not have one (the one in my room was broken). The shuttle bus is getting worse as not it is catered to the Best Western (across the street). This has been the second time, we waited at the subway and the driver drove up with his van full of passenger regardless of who called them first. Wifi is not so good in room.

This is an "old school" motel that has been very well preserved. The location is excellent for the Metro DC area and is surrounded by the necessary service providers; a dry cleaners and 24/7 laundromat are next door; across Route 50 are two drug stores, an IHOP and several other restaurants. The accommodations are clean, the housekeepers are helpful and the front desk staff get things done when asked. In addition, every morning a very substantial hot breakfast is served, with the price includ... Read more

We loved it the price was fair for amenities, very friendly and helpful staff, and not bad location. It wasn't anything over the top but wasn't a dirt hole either. We will definitely be going here again when we come back to visit Arlington area and we recommend this place if your looking for a non modern place.

The Inn located close to Washington DC, if no traffic, 15-20 mins can reach the National Mall. There are some restaurants, CVS, fast food near the Inn. Room is very clean, newly renovated, breakfast is fair, couple choices, but the tablecloth is not clean enough. The Inn is full during the 3 nights we visited, room service can be improved, for the towels haven't changed in our 2nd night stay. We asked the front desk, but they ran out of towels..... Other than that, overall is good.

We stayed here a week to see Washington, DC and overall it worked out well for us. We did not rent a car for this part of our vacation so the best parts to us were as follows: a great price if we stayed at least 6 nights, the free shuttle to East Falls Church Metro daily in the morning until 11am and 5pm-9pm, and having restaurants and stores within walking distance. We took our first Lyft to get here then took the Metro to pick up our car to leave for the rest of our vacation. The down side was... Read more

The Governor House Inn is an older Motel ala the Route 66 Roadway Inns. The price per night was a bargain considering it is in the DC area. The rooms were clean and up to date. The staff and management was helpful and well informed. The Motel provided free shuttle service to the Metro. I stayed for 8 nights and this was by far the best dollar for dollar value I have ever had staying at a Motel. Next time I am in the DC area, I will definitely stay here again. We have actually stayed twice. One of the major things we loved about this is the continental breakfast. Most hotels that say continental it's pretty pathetic, but here everyone in my family was happy. With A Belgian Waffles cooker, Bacon, Eggs, Biscuits and gravy, plus all the regulars including cereal, yogurt, pastries, donuts, and toast, this was a full fledge breakfast. The rooms were clean both times, and had plenty of towels. Carolina was an amazing front desk person on our second time and... Read more

I stayed here on a short business trip and usually provide feedback soon after my experience. Somehow, it looks like I overlooked this and just noticed the Trip Advisor reminder. My apologies for anyone who may have been helped by my review. I had driven past the hotel and thought it looked like a nice place to stay that wasn't part of a huge chain. The room was dark, damp, and old. I tried not to be too judgmental about the place because it was much cheaper than other hotels in the area. ... Read more

As a computer scientist traveling to DC to work with DARPA, I'm appalled that I can't do any work because there's no internet in my room (room 240 to be exact). Simply unacceptable. Other than that, this is just a normal hotel. In hindsight I should've done Airbnb which would be more personal and likely cheaper. They are plenty of offerings in the DC area by the way. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g54171-d118931-r420687490-The_Governor_s_House_Inn-Charleston_South_Carolina.html#

This used to be a Comfort Inn and now its a little worn and showing its age. Hmmm, let's see; I could rate it down because it has seen a few years and suggest the current owners spend millions of dollars and double the price to pay for those improvements, or I could live with a little worn carpet and thank the owners for giving me a nice affordable place in the Washington DC area. I think I'll take the latter: reasonable rate, clean, comfortable and convenient. Thanks Governor House Inn fo... Read more

Room was dated. Very loud music and singing coming from somewhere in the hotel. We called the desk and we're told it was a church group who would be singing for several more hours- past 10pm. Most hotels want it quiet after 8:00. We were given a different room but it was still noisy. Breakfast was poor. Eggs were powdered. Breakfast room was dirty. We didn't eat there at all. Will pay more next time for a better hotel.
