Not recommended. This review is directed at IHG corporate management ?? not the management and staff at this hotel. This review was written contemporaneous with our 5-day stay during the last week of December 2015. We fail to grasp the legitimacy of the 4-star ratings for this hotel here on Trip Advisor. These reviews show, I suppose, how a 2-star hotel can receive 4-star ratings for its class of service and performance. We stay at IHG brand hotels worldwide and are IHG Spire Elite members... I was displaced from my home for about a week because of flooding. Barbara, at the front desk, was awesome! She was so kind to me and my family. She would greet me and my family each day. I was nervous about repairs made to my home and Barbara would let me talk with her. It really calmed me down. I felt so welcomed and pampered at this hotel. The breakfast in the morning is awesome! My daughter loved the pancakes!

Great staff, very clean hotel, very clean rooms. Bed was newer and I had a good sleep. But the rooms are very tiny and the bathroom is one of the smallest I've seen in a Holiday Inn. I would not recommend this hotel to a family but it is fine for a business trip.

I have been staying at different holiday inns and hotels for two years now, the best one is this Fairfax location. The Room is clean and the location is great, just off I-66 and there are many good food nearby. The front desk check in process is smooth and adorable. Barbary is a really nice staff, she introduced me to the IHG club two years ago and I have got many reward nights and points since then. She will call you after you check in to ensure everything is good in the room. She is very profe... Read more

As far as the facility, this is your usual Holiday Inn Express. However, what makes it special is the service. Both people I talked with at the front desk were extremely friendly and very helpful. It seemed that whatever you needed to do or to know was no problem. The same was true at the breakfast buffet. The lady that kept the place clean and stocked did an excellent job. The buffet itself was excellent. They seemed to have everything: cereals, omelets, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pancake... Read more

Customer service was great but this certainly isn't one of the newer properties that you'll stay at. Cleanliness wasn't necessarily the issue but it seems that it needs to be updated. Wall unit for the A/C was very loud and the temperature control was broken so I was up several times during the night to turn the air on and off. Not overly impressed.

First off, this was what I'd expect for a Holiday Inn: quiet, fairly clean, courteous staff. They didn't do anything to blow me away, but it wasn't horrible either. The room was comfortable and it was fairly easy to get to (I did drive by a few times but that's because it's a building on a very crowded street). There were a few odd items about the place. My room never seemed to have cold water. I'd turn on the faucet and, no matter the setting, the water would just keep getting warmer. Ver... Read more

We stayed here as a family on the way home from vacation. We arrived late at night. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful with local information. Our first room was not ready so they upgraded us and refunded some of our rewards points which was not necessary but shows great customer service. The room was very clean and quiet. Very comfortable beds and great breakfast. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

When we are traveling, we are seeking cleanliness, comfort, friendly helpfulness, and convenient breakfast (with a little extra time given with no fuss). For this kind of travel, this was our 5 star. The king bedrooms was a bit small, but we found it well designed for comfort with the space given... and we travel with extra gear, finding spaces for everything. The mattresses were better than most and everything worked perfectly. We did not use the gym, but it was good to see free weights avai... Read more

Smaller hotel. The room is modern and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The air conditioning system is a bit dated but works well. Sufficient breakfast included. There was a small high pitched noise from my bathroom about 11am which stopped by its own accord after 15 mins.

We stayed here when we were visiting Washington D.C. for a weekend. The two nights we spent here were quiet and comfortable. We arrived to find an accommodating hotel clerk (despite the late hour of our arrival) and when we got to our rooms we were pleasantly surprised to find a spotless room where we were able to get plenty of rest. The morning breakfast buffet was a delicious assortment of food, especially the cinnamon rolls! The second night we woke up to the room toilet running, and when... Read more

Stayed here for a 5 day stay while touring around Washington D.C. While it is a little ways from downtown D.C. (a 10 min drive to metro then 35-40 min ride on train) It is well worth the stay. The rooms are not huge but big enough. The only downsize is the bathroom is a little small. There are a lot of eating places around the hotel which is a plus Will stay again.

We stayed one night for a family visit. The room was clean and quiet. The staff was friendly and the bed comfortable. The most enjoyable part was breakfast. The eating area is large and accomodates a lot of guests so you can relax and eat with no pressure to move on. The staff constantly was refilling the breakfast bar keeping food fresh and hot. The cinnamon rolls alone were worth the meal, they were hot, fresh and delicious. Will stay here again if returning to the area.

My son and I went on a trip to Washington DC with the school. Got to stay here for 2 nights. Rooms were very clean and water pressure was awesome, especially after being on the bus for 24 hours. They had a wonderful breakfast buffet for all of us both mornings and were so very nice and friendly to us! Thank you to the great staff, hope we didn't give you too much trouble!

Barbara greated us as we entered and took care of us the whole time. She gave us tips on where to eat and how to tour Washington DC. She always had a smile and a greeting for us. The location of this hotel is so very convenient. There is a Red Lobster connected to the property. The cheapest gas station a few blocks away. The metro station within 8 miles. The hot breakfast was always full. The rooms are large.

LOCATION Hotel is centrally located to all parts of Fairfax. It's also the halfway point between Washington, Dulles Airport and central Washington, DC. Washington, Dulles is approx. 18 miles to the NW and DC is approx. 18 miles East. Drive time to either is about 30 minutes (varies based on traffic/time of day.) There is a Red Lobster in the same parking lot (I don't recommend it.) There are several better choice options within just a few minutes drive. STAFF Very friendly and available around... Read more

To enjoy the comforts of clean accommodation, friendly staff and great amenities on Fairfax Blvd, get into the Holiday Inn Express. A lot of free stuff like free breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking, gym and business center is really hard to ignore. I stayed during the weekend for $69 but they have special discount packages for weekends. Do check their rates before making reservations, they might be a bit more on working days.

We normally stay with family when traveling to the area, but this holiday their "inn" was full. I got a lot more rest and relaxation staying at this hotel, and for that I am very thankful. We started our days with the free breakfast buffet, which is constantly stocked with healthy and unhealthy options of all sorts, and then would head out to visit our family. At the end of the day it was a welcome shift to come back, watch a little Comedy Central, and snooze 8 hours in the super-comfy king-size... Read more
