I am new to the area so I went to a days inn on emmitt it was literally a drug house, druggies and all kind of activities I really felt unsafe so I came up the street to the Holiday Inn. There was no illegal activities in the parking lot, quiet and clean. As I was into the hotel it smelled clean the front desk reps greeted me with a smile, check in was easy, the hotel was full but quiet and reserved. There is a bar/restaurant to the right of check in desk FOOD AND DRINKS were great. Bar Tenders ... Read more

my sister and I stayed here for one night for a concert in the area. check-in was smooth. the room was just as expected. very clean. only issue was the loud guests surrounding us. There was a restaurant and complimentary breakfast on site. we didn't partake due to leaving in a hurry to return home due to my sister feeling very under the weather. Will definitely be staying here again if we attend a concert in the area.

I stayed at this hotel on Friday April 29 as I was in town handling some last minute details for an upcoming move this summer. Let me start by saying that this hotel is nestled at a busy intersection, though I didn't hear any traffic or street noises while in my room. Nice lobby that presented a clean and welcoming environment. Now, let me start by saying that being a guy who only stays in 3 to 5 star hotels, I have never checked my linens thoroughly other than a brief visual glance to make sur... Read more

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn University the night before an early morning surgery. Our newly decorated room was attractive and clean. We had a nice TV, good Wi-Fi connection, a refrigerator and microwave, a very comfortable bed,and a quiet night. Our arrival was a bit troubling because heavy traffic made it difficult to get to the hotel. Once we got parked and into the lobby, the front-desk staff seemed preoccupied, but they did get us efficiently checked in. I would have been happ... Read more

We arrived on graduation weekend... people everywhere sporting UVA gear. The front desk staff stayed ahead of things, answered questions, even got the manager when there was a snafu, who helped handle things beautifully. We appreciated this personal service. The room, a king, did not have a trash can (just an oversight, I'm sure) and the bed was missing it's middle support between the two twin bases. The bathroom shower could have been a little cleaner. We had a good night's sleep, tho.

The building is terrific but this hotel's management is falling down on the job. When we arrived, the hotel van was parked in the way of guest access to the front door. The first front desk clerk we dealt with, at about an hour before check in time, could not find our reservation. She said to come back in an hour. When we returned, she still could not find our reservation even when I showed it to her on the Holiday Inn app. Then, at 15 minutes after check in time, she finally said she did not... Read more

This is with regards to my reservation at Holiday Inn - University Area property in Charlottesville from 18 May to 25th May. Me and my family were staying here for the graduation weekend and we had bought new shoes for all of us to wear for the event. Late in the night just a day before graduation on 21st we noticed that the bag with brand new shoes still in boxes was missing from the room. The worst part of this is that the front desk has completely overlooked this incident and has shown no ac... Read more

My daughter and I spent one night here. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was a nice size and smelled clean when we entered. The bathroom could use some updating but was clean. While drying my hair the hair dryer got so hot that some plastic on it melted and burned my finger. I told the front desk staff and they promptly sent a maintenance man to address the issue. On a good note the lobby coffee was a nice surprise. It was hot and fresh. We forgot to bring toothpaste and the lady at the fro... Read more

Older Holiday Inn but well kept. 7 floors, large rooms with step-In show, indoor pool and Emmets bar & grill, serving typical pub grub. There is a nice patio area out back to smoke and lounge in. Not too difficult to enter or exit with a large parking lot. Staff courteous. The La Quinta next door is far, far below the stature of the HI.

Stayed here earlier this week one night. First, the pluses: - Restaurant/Bar: still well managed, decent pub food, excellent service - Room clean, nice large TV, AC worked well Right, and now for the minuses: - Starting at check-in, the keycard machine was broken or they were upgrading it or something - nonetheless, all decent hotels I stay at have a BACKUP machine - this hotel NOT. Waited 12 minutes for keycard machine to be reconnected, reset, re-whatever until it finally spit out a keycard... Read more

We wanted to get food at the restaurant but were told that 2 of the 3 cooks did not show up the evening we checked in. It would be at least an hour because he was cooking for a convention. The next morning we ordered room service and the pancakes were like rubber and the hot chocolate was like brown water. They forgot the bacon and cream and sweetener for the coffee. They said it would be 15 minutes but it took over an hour. There was also only one vending machine on the second floor which ... Read more

Ok so I'm a loyal IHG member. I get to this hotel last week with no upgrade for which I'm entitled. So get here today and I get the upgrade. OK sweet get to the room WTH there's no microwave in the upgraded suit. All the other rooms have one. So they down grade me like last week. Get in this room and there's this in my tub. Really are you folks joking me seriously. I'll never book another room here. So I just want everyone to know what this hotel is like.

The location of the Holiday Inn is nice and convenient. The beds and pillows in the rooms were comfortable. I found our room to be very clean, quiet and roomy. Parking could be a bit better on the weekend (probably due to events held at the hotel like weddings and Sunday church services. The major complaint that I have about this hotel is that the front desk staff truly had no personality or customer service skills. At check in, there was no smiles or "welcome" and when we checked out, the woman... Read more

We booked a room at this Holiday Inn because of its convenient location. The staff at the desk was professional and friendly and check-in went smoothly. We went to our room, but on entering, it seemed to have a stale cigarette-smoky odor. That did soon dissipate. The room was neat and clean, but there was a surprise in store. In the morning, we found that the shower head was broken. Water poured out of the side of the fixture and it was like taking a shower with a garden hose. We reported th... Read more

Stayed for one night. All fine apart from noise from AC system and noisy neighbour at 2 a.m. There was a door linking the two rooms and it didn't block out much of the sound. Hotel is well placed for the University. It is on a dual carriageway but set back from the road behind a car park so traffic noise was not a problem. Took an impromptu trip to Charlottesville. Woke up in the morning and decided to drive west. Once we hit Charlottesville we stopped. After not having luck finding a place to stay we ended up at Holiday Inn. I will say, the rate at 157$ plus taxes is a bit steep for this hotel. The double-bed guest-room was very nice, with a sliding door that opened up to a slight stoop (very nice this time of year to leave it open and feel the cool, fall breeze).
