The staff at this hotel is Fantastic! We lost a bag in the parking lot at night and the staff found it and brought it to our room! The Restaurant was out of Trifle, so I ordered Asparagus. After finishing the vegetables my waitress surprised me with a Complimentary Trifle that was Terriffic. From the Front Desk to the Restaurant this hotel exemplifies Southern Hospitality and is the Best Hotel in Charlottesville!

The hotel basics were covered quite well at the Hilton Doubletree over graduation weekend. The bed was nicely firm. The room was in good shape and spacious. The famous Doubletree cookies were available each night (with milk no less!!) So I was happy with my stay. But if I wanted to be picky, I would comment about the lack of towels in the early AM (7:30) available in the exercise room. Also, the male waitstaff at the concierge level break room was sullen and uninterested. This was not the norm... Read more

After traveling many hours from the West coast, driving up to this hotel was refreshing. It is beautiful, very rich and appealing. When you walk in, the smell of fresh baked cookie, makes you feel like you are walking into your mom's house. I will always stay here when I am in Charlottseville.

The hotel and front desk staff were superb. Upon arrival and check in each of us received a WARM chocolate chip cookie. The only concerns we (my wife and I) had were: 1. Trouble we had with turning on the shower. It was a "pull out" and was very stiff. My wife stated that if I had not been there, she would have had to call the front desk for assistance. 2. We decided to go for dinner. on Saturday night, in the hotel restaurant. Quality of our dinners was excellent. There were only two oth... Read more

The main reason it only gets 4 stars is that they never cleaned the room. We stayed on the top floor and had access to the executive lounge which was a real treat. The bed was very comfortable and the cookies of course were to die for. The staff were very upbeat and pleasant. I basically enjoyed our stay, yet returning to a dirty room put a damper on it.

While this hotel is priced like a premium hotel, and the exterior and lobby area look like a premium hotel, our experience at the Charlottesville location was a shocking disappointment. The problems began with the billing. Soon after we checked in, I received an email from AMEX saying that an unsigned transaction had just been made. No surprise at this point until I opened the email and saw a figure almost $100 higher than the price at booking. I tried to call the front desk but of course th... Read more

We stayed here for a reunion weekend at UVA. Having visited at other Double Tree hotels, I was disappointed by our recent experience. First, the rooms feel dated and worn - mid-90s décor and colors. The main issue we experienced was with our room air conditioner. The room never cooled down despite adjusting the temp on the wall, the next day we called to get the unit serviced. We were told it was fixed, but our room was still hot the second night. A slightly minor issue was we were also in a ro... Read more

If you're able to get a room with a view of the mountains, its worth it. Otherwise I would suggest another hotel. The rooms are very dated and/or poorly maintained. You have to walk right past the heavily chlorinated pool to get to the elevators. Not really located near anything. I stayed on the executive floor which offered a nice breakfast in the lounge. Doubt I would stay here again if it were up to me.

I drove down with my husband on Memorial Day weekend expecting to find an available hotel - what a mistake!! We found no open hotels for around 3 hours until at 1 am we found this Doubletree lifesaver. The only available room was a presidential suite, which for the time of night was fine. It was pricey but comfortable. Despite our 2 am check in the staff was nice. Breakfast was yummy and served in the top penthouse floor (since we got presidential suite). I was in town for 8 days for business, and Angel at the front desk got the visit off to a great start! Very friendly and welcoming, she greeted my colleague and I with a warm smile and great attitude. I saw here again during my visit, and she remembered who I was and engaged in conversation with me, which was delightful. The hotel itself is beautiful with a great indoor pool and a gorgeous outdoor area. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, and everyone else I had contact with was also very fr... Read more

Excellent restaurant and bar, spacious rooms, only negative comment is bathroom is on the small side and the toilet is very low to the ground. Other than that, the stay was very positive. Staff is friendly, courteous and professional.

Stayed 4 nights visiting area wineries. Convenient location, short drive to vineyards, short Uber ride to downtown. We had some glitches - AC failed on 95+day, cable TV probs. Credit to hotel staff, replaced AC unit, fixed probs very promptly. Excellent, fast room service. We'll stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed here on Sunday night for Labor Day Weekend - just for a girl's night out. The Atrium with indoor pool was absolutely lovely. The room was small and the bathroom wasn't as nice as we would have liked. The beds were not very firm. However, the room and linens were spotless and overall, we were comfortable. Service was absolutely outstanding.

We spent one night at the hotel after visiting Monticello. Our experience was between Average and Very Good. My expectation of the DoubleTree brand is high so you can take it from that. I reserved 3 rooms for my family and none of them were connected. We were all on the same floor though. 2 of the rooms had an odd smell that we told management about before we left for dinner. When we came back from dinner the smell was better.

We spent the night recently at the Doubletree in Charlottesville. We have stayed in other Doubletree hotels, but we were really impressed by this one. It's beautifully maintained and the room furnishings were attractive and immaculate. We had dinner in the Tavern and the service was good and the food delicious. It was nice not to have to drive somewhere for dinner. We also enjoyed the concierge hospitality room and it was staffed by a very helpful woman who made us feel comfortable. In short- a ... Tim from the front desk was outstanding. He informed me of things I didn't know about my member benefits. However I made a pre arrival request for a crib which took all night to receive after several calls to the Careline. I hope people didn't think we were impatient... But after being informed at check in my request was acknowledged... Then I told another agent when I went out to dinner.... But had to call back twice when I returned from dinner. The overall room was clean but the grout in th... Read more

This hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at. The quality of the hotel is excellent and the staff was more than helpful and happy to accommodate anything we needed. Very professional and prompt. The bathroom in our room was very small. Only one person could be in there at one time but the room itself was very spacious and clean.

Great hotel. The staff treat you like family and the hotel is kept in really good condition. The food is excellent and the service is perfect. The people that work at the hotel make the hotel a great place to stay. The pool and spa are 24/7 and that works well for me.

But when we checked in and asked if we could get another night the manager said he would work on it. Nothing was available at the time. It was later that evening the manager called us and was able to let us have the same room for one additional night at the same price, even though it was a weekend. Very friendly and efficient front desk staff. Room was quiet and bed was comfortable.Nice room layout and everything was tastefully decorated. Unfortunately the wireless was so slow it was unusable. The bathroom was so small the open door was constantly in the way. Very low water pressure from the shower head. Parking was plentiful if somewhat distant from the hotel entrance. Not the most convenient location for campus activities. Overall a fine hotel that is somewhat overpriced.

If your travels take you to Charlottesville, you will be happy to know that you have a home away from home. Maybe even a bit better because everyone here is smiling. If you are fortunate enough to be able to visit the Club Lounge, you will be taken care of. My compliments to the team as they really do go out of their way to make you feel at home, or better.

My daughter was recovering from surgery at the hotel for 4 nights. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful and went out of their way to help with some unusual requests. The staff in the restaurants made my daughter comfortable and made sure there was a chair to keep her foot elevated. The food was great, there was even a wine tasting while we were there. We stayed in a two room suite that gave us so much room and we were able to fit 6 of her friends at the dining table for dinner.

This vintage '70s-era Doubletree -- which seems virtually unchanged since well before Doubletree joined the Hilton empire -- is tucked away on an isolated slip road halfway between the airport and the city. It's close to nothing except a Walmart, so you really need a car if you stay there, and the interior spaces are full of dated touches: old-gen woodwork and light switches, tired economy-tier, bathroom fixtures, odd labyrinthine layout, coat upon coat of paint wherever you look. There's a pool... Read more
