We came down for VT graduation and had a great family time using the indoor and outdoor sitting areas. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The cost of rooms was crazy expensive due to the graduation weekend, but we had a great time and it is a once in lifetime experience for our daughter.

They didn't care when I complained about the noise coming from the adjacent service room preventing me and my wife from sleeping. When asked about local venues for food or entertainment, none of the front desk staff could offer suggestions....Yelp was more helpful.

This hotel appears to be new. The room was spacious with comfortable beds and free wi-fi. It was very quiet. While it didn't provide a free breakfast, the continental breakfast options were extensive and it cost only $4.49. For $9.95 a short order cook would quickly produce fried eggs or an omelet to go along with the continental breakfast buffet. The hotel is quite close to Virginia Tech and downtown Blacksburg.

Love the breakfast at this hotel!!! Had a great stay and the town was very nice also. Would definitely stay here if I ever pass through this area again. The staff was wonderful. The only problem was I forgot my iPhone charger in the room and when I called back the next day, housekeeping didn't have it and couldn't find it.

I was very impressed with the ease of early check-in at HGI. After a long red-eye flight from the west coast, I was seeking a quick shower before heading to the conference at V-Tech. Without any hesitation, the front office staff asked if I'd be willing to wait half an hour for a possible room. I waited in the lobby area which is quite quaint with herbal teas and fruit-infused water. Thanks for the stay!

This is a really nice hotel and excellent location, but the mattresses are really bad. Really bad. When you check in, they tell you that there is a dial to adjust the firmness of the mattresses but the dials do nothing. The hotel offers breakfast ($5.95/$9.95) and dinner and a bar. Each room has a Keurig Coffee Maker, which is great. The hotel is well maintained and appears to be relatively new with nice furnishings. Plenty of parking too. I love Hilton Garden Inn and stay there when possible. However, the new adjustable mattresses are absolutely HORRIBLE! On the 'firm' setting the bed is like a board. On the 'soft' setting, it's like a board with indentions where the air was let out. I couldn't tell a difference when set to mid-range. This is the only negative thing I have to say about my stay; however, sleep is the most basic function of a hotel and I didn't sleep more than a couple hours for the four nights I was there on bus... This hotel was clean, comfortable, and very close to VA Tech. I brought my daughter down for orientation, and so it was just a quick one night stay. I didn't get a chance to try any of the amenities. The bathroom has a large glass shower instead of a shower/tub combination - which I loved. Only issue was the air conditioner unit that was rather loud when it kicked on. The Hilton Garden Inn at Blacksburg, Va deliveries a value and comfort beyond what is expected. I travel for work and find the staff better than most 4 star hotels. Very nice and clean hotel. the staff was excellent. The beds were comfortable and you can adjust the firmness. I really enjoyed the Shower. It was an actual shower not a tub/shower combo and had a glass door ( can't stand those shower curtains). The only thing that was disappointing was there was no free breakfast. Breakfast starts at I believe 9$. This is something to think about if you are not traveling alone, as it can get pricey.

Full disclosure: I am an OCD germophobe. Very high standards. Room and lobby were clean enough. One complaint, mirror on closet door was overlooked. Second night, maid service was shotty, but ok. Beds made sloppily, trash left on floor, left us with no toilet paper. Two chips in tub. Why? Those things should be painted/repaired ASAP. But, still, the room was comfortable. AC at night was loud and inconsistent and the knobs on the bed to make them firm and soft didn't work. However, it was c... Read more

It is a little farther from the downtown and restaurants from my prospective, but I am not as familiar with the area. This is a standard HGI hotel. Honestly, the most uncomfortable beds out family has ever slept on. The primary reason for staying at a hotel is to sleep (primarily) followed by using the facility to ready oneself for the day. One would expect much. Enter from a Hilton establishment. For the price we paid there is absolutely no excise to have such horrible beds and pillows. We have slept at less pricey hotels and have had beds that you wouldn't want to get out of. Hilton should really be embarrassed by the lack of comfort w... Read more

Our family has had multiple stays at the HGI. We like the large room size that includes two queen-size beds, as most hotels in the area only offer full-size beds.
