I left with a BAD feeling about this place !!!! We reserved a rm with a king bed, got a handicapped rm. with a bathroom floor that flooded when the shower was used. Exhaust fan, heat & hair dryer, didn't work. Asked for a rm change and all we could get was a rm with double beds. When we checked out, we got charged: $1.50/day extra for a room safe that we never asked for and never used, $5.00 extra for the 2nd rm with double beds.

Wonderful stay. Clean hotel, great staff, very helpful with directions and information. Would definately stay here again. Yes it's on a busy street but its near DC and Alexandria so thats to be expected. They gave me an option of floors to stay on and traveling with aging parents that was very helpful getting ground level.

Just okay, that's all, but again, you get what you pay for. The beds were okay, the room itself was okay, and I would have given it a higher score, except the bathroom was a little scary. You cannot walk to the Metro station or to Old Town from here, but it's an easy drive to the Metro, where you can park all day for five dollars. Would I stay here again? Only if I was really broke.

Reasonable accommodation on the outskirts of Washington, clean tidy room, close to the metro which is a must driving in Washington takes forever, no supermarket close by but overall a hotel I would return to, reception staff friendly and helpful!

Good comfortable stay in the premium room. Quiet. Polite front desk. Accessible by bus and metro. Small bathroom but clean. Safe in room for a small fee. Good pizza place down the road. Everything worked in the room. Prefer to have faced the rear side, not the highway side.

I stayed here for a conference instead of at the National Harbor and saved about 200? per night. It was well worth that price, and after orienting, it's very simple to get back to the convention center. Sarah at the front desk was extremely good about helping me navigate to the National Harbor and back. Her suggestion that I use Uber instead of a taxi like I did the first day saved me so much money. There is no breakfast, but there is good coffee in the morning. The room was clean and neat. I... Read more

The sign said all new rooms....not sure what they call new rooms. Friends had stayed and recommend it will never stay at another Red Roof Inn or Red Roof Inn plus. The A/C made the worst noise and couldn't sleep and didn't cool at all so we were hot all night. The rooms wasn't clean. The second room we paid for was a non smoking room also and smoke smell was terrible. I also have never seen a note left by the maids asking for tips.

Red Roof Inns are generally very predictable--great value, modern accommodations, simple service. The Alexandria, VA Red Roof Inn is precisely in keeping with that trend. The rooms have been renovated, are clean, and are in keeping with the hotel chain's brand trend. Staff are adequate, the property is generally well-maintained, and the proximity to Old Town Alexandria and downtown DC is quite convenient. Come with "hotel" expectations and you'll be disappointed; come with "motel" expectatio... Read more

I chose Red Roof because the pictures and the reviews were good and the price was reasonable. When I got to the room it had a horrific smell and when I looked in the bathroom it seemed to be stool left in the toilet. The management did change my room but the new room was no better but there was no smell. This is hotel is on a major highway so it was very hard walking to the room from the metro with 3 small kids. I would never stay at another category 2 hotel.

Sarah did a great job to quickly check me in at the hotel. I had my wife and 2 dogs. I was at the back of the hotel 3rd floor which was quiet. I had large king room which was clean and relatively spacious. Great price for room. Good location to fast food and 2 mi from Old Town Alexandria. Ample yard space for dogs. I'd recommend staying with your dogs.

It was FINE for the price. I'm accustomed to fancy Hiltons. This wasn't THAT. However, the rooms were clean. It smelled a little musty. Expect exterior halls. But the area is so expensive, that the price made this Red Roof Inn a good choice. Was it AWESOME? NO. But, awesome in DC costs $400 per night. If you just want a clean safe place to stay in a great location near a metro - definitely give this place a go.

We had 2 rooms, both no smoking. First room smelled of old smoke, floor was sticky, and it had not been cleaned property. Dead roaches outside. Second room key didn't work so went to front desk and learned there had been an "incident" in there and he forgot. Wanted to move us to others rooms, I called Expedia and said we want a refund, which they gave us. Place was more like an hourly type no tell, motel.

I stayed for 3 days there, the room was decently clean (the bathroom needed some extra tlc) and overall had a good stay, however my room was overlooking the main road and there was too much noise. I wasn't too happy about the lack of a coffee maker in the room. I talked to the front desk about it and although they said they would fix that for me; when I came back to my room in the evening the second front desk person wasn't too nice about it and in the end I didn't get the coffee maker. Stopped by for 3 nights last weekend to visit some friends. The room was clean, and quiet enough on the back side away from the road. We had quick access to the metro and lots of restaurants -- Sarah was suuper helpful and gave us a ton of great options to check out for food in Old Town. We had a great weekend, and the folks here helped make everything go smoothly. We'll definitely stay again next time we're in the area!

Room was fairly quiet, and quite clean. The location is perfect: close to a metro stop and a quick Taxi ride from the heart of DC. A special shout-out to Sarah working at the front desk, who suggested we take a tour of Old Town, Alexandria. It's a cute little shopping district about a 10 minute ride away from the hotel, and there's a wonderful amount of little boutique stores and restaurants there. A welcome flashback to Main Street Americana! Hotel staff were all great and we'd love to stay the... Read more

I stayed for 1 night while most hotels were booked or rates were sky high in DC. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The best part of my stay though was the kind, couteous and professional reception from Sarah and the front desk. While traveling it is always nice to feel welcome and that is certainly how I felt here during my short but very pleasant stay. Thank you!

We checked into our room in Alexandria and was put on the second floor. Our room had a coffee maker and a refrigerator. Even though our room faced the busy highway, it was quiet. If you check in here with a pet, the pet walk area is in the back of the building. The closest restaurant to this hotel is about half a mile south. We didn't stop at this one but went further to Appleby's.

Hotel was supposed to be upgraded with all new rooms. Carpet was nasty and smelled horrible. Toilet barely flushes. Later that night we realized our microwave and fridge did not work!! No suggestions to replace them or anything. Just apologized. Guy in next room smoking and it leaked into our room. Just horrible experience.

I was definitely impressed with his hotel for the price. It's pretty close to D.C. Very clean and the staff is very friendly. If I had to say one negative thing I would say that there isn't really a lot within walking distance and the traffic around this area can be horrible especially in D.C. if you are a first time visitor. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The good points: the property For a budget hotel, the recently renovated rooms are much better than I expected from a budget motel: large, well-equipped, and clean. Although located on a heavily traveled highway, the grounds are nicely landscaped and the back of the hotel faces a bamboo mini-forest. A mixed point: location The location is very close to Alexandria and to an interchange on the Capital Beltway, but not convenient for guests without a car. However, several public bus lines stop ... would I stay here again. I would look around more, but I wouldn't avoid it. The site is ok, the issue here was maintenance. The shower curtain rod was loose; almost fell off when i was simply opening the curtain. The floor/carpet was stained/ smeared with something; hard to tell what. Also, possible hard and confusing to get here! For the money, this should be better.

I can't believe the reviews for this place averaged out to a 4. Seems impossible that anyone liked it here. Red Roof Inn Plus is worse than terrible. It gets a zero rating. I stayed here for business and there was a constant element of shady characters. Be prepared to spend a restless, noise filled night. The four construction workers next to my room got drunker and louder as the night wore on. And their cigarette smoke filled my room because the air conditioners vent directly outside the rooms.... We paid for the Premium rooms...which are on the second floor. Unfortunately for most of our two day stay the elevator was not working and the centre staircase was being painted. That meant we had to lug our heavy luggage a lot further than we would have liked. However, that was more about bad timing than anything permanent. Other than that the room was nice and very clean. Quiet, other than the occasional emergency vehicle sirens. No noise problem with other guests. King bed was very comfortable... Read more

Great service, great room, great price but most of all great location. There is a bus stop across the street to the left about 1/8 of a mile that will take you to shopping of all kinds. Across the street and around the corner to the left there is a bus stop that takes you to the yellow train line that connects to all routes and stops around DC. We arrived IAD and took a bus train and walked to hotel under $20 per person. We took Uber on the way back to IAD $65. Great location for a DC visit spen... Read more

The front desk staff was absolutely fantastic!!! Both Sarah and Debbie were very understanding and helpful with all of the problems I experienced there. In fact, I cannot express in words how wonderful Cedric was. To wit, he singlehandedly helped me to plan our entire 6 days in D.C. I am so indebted to him for his assistance. Unfortunately though, when we arrived, safe was not functioning and one comforter and blanket smelled of urine. Informed housekeeping and left the soiled linens by the door... Read more
