I stayed here as part of a group for a business meeting. My room was beginning to show some age and the carpet had what looked like blood stains on it. There was a school group there at the same time and they were quite noisy at times. The front desk staff didn't do anything wrong, however, they weren't very friendly and didn't make one feel very welcome. The dining staff on the other hand, was very friendly and helpful. The upside to my stay was the location. It was close to many attracti... Read more

This is a holiday inn that lived up to its name so no surprises here. Couldn't find a hotel with free breakfast though so none here. There is a mega store just 2 blocks away and the rooms are nice. You can park free on side streets and right in front of the hotel on weekends so don't pay for the valet. two cons: there was a high school prom or party going on (with rental of rooms)and when I asked for a room far away from that the front desk put me on a floor right in the middle of the rooms.... We decided to stay in Alexandria rather than across the river in DC for two reasons - firstly the much cheaper hotel choices, but also the feeling that Alexandria would be a better night time option with Kids than DC. On reflection i think we got the decision right. The hotel is situated in a fairly quiet part of the old town - about 15 minutes walk to the Braddock Road Metro and to Kings Street - a couple of bars and restaurants nearby and a supermarket. We arrived early, but were still able ... Read more

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights as we toured the DC area. About a 15 minute walk to King Street in Old Town or to the nearest Metro - and a nice neighbourhood to walk. They also run a regular shuttle to Reagan Airport where you can also catch the Metro. Depending on the stop, the Metro gets you to the National Mall area in about 15 minutes. Rooms were clean and spacious - no complaints - a solid Holiday Inn experience.

We stayed here for one night. The rates for club members was so reasonable for the DC area! The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The location was great- a 10 minute walk to King Street and the Torpedo Factory. The rates for parking was included in the club rate- awesome! The only drawback is that there was no food service available during the lunch hour. Breakfast and dinner- yes- but no food in the middle of the day. The closest restaurant was two blocks away. Lunch service or a snack ba... Read more

Unfortunately the hotel was accommodating dozens of teenage kids. The poorly designed layout meant noise from the events held in the function areas is very apparent in rooms overlooking this area. The group was using microphones and banging on tables. Kids were running around corridors; shouting; slamming doors which meant that for three nights it was impossible to sleep before 11pm. The late night noise was not improved despite complaining twice. So, pleasant and clean hotel but certainly not... Read more

Our family of 3 spent one night here. Check in was fast and room was ready. Room was clean and comfortable with a nice balcony view overlooking the seating area next to the pool. Bedding was very comfortable and room had excellent air conditioning. Room service was quick and good quality. Staff were pleasant and helpful! We would certainly stay again.

The best part of our stay was the kind people in the restaurant, in particular, Betty! She greeted and took care of us every morning! She was truly a gem! The hotel is a convenient location for seeing VA and DC! Warning, they do host a lot of school groups but I thought the kids were very polite and well-chaperoned!

This property is one of the strangest I have ever stayed at. The rooms are really fabulous; the staff is friendly and their shuttle service is great. The shuttle to downtown Alexandria does not, however, run until 2:15 in the afternoon. They have a restaurant with very high prices and mediocre food - and they do not serve lunch at all. There are no snack machines and no snack area - the first hotel I have ever experienced this way. The result was a very long day from morning activities into an a... Read more

I came in early (1:00 PM), and told lady at desk that I wanted her to know I was there if a room should become available - figuring it would take a while to clean. She asked me for my info and asked if I was okay near the elevator. When I said yes, she said she could check me in right away. I never did hear the elevator. On site parking adds to the price, but is very convenient. It's a little tricky to get in and out of with odd turns and a finicky card reader system. The room was not rema... Read more

I stayed in this hotel on a recent trip to Washington DC. The room was relatively quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked very well. Since I was with approximately 150 other students and teachers, we also had the chance to eat breakfast and diner at the hotel. I am a gluten-free vegetarian, and found very little food at the hotel that worked for me. While the room was clean and spacious, the hotel is older and shows its age. Our bathroom sink kept getting plugged up. The front desk would send someone to fix it and a couple of uses and it would plug back up. The neighborhood is residential and very safe but it would have been nice to be closer to the action. Very very convenient to Reagan airport.

generally good. the gripes are minor. its weird how you have to go into the restaurant to get the complimentary coffee. the layout of the hotel has these masses of people to navigate in the lobby. the design of the facility puts the elevators way away from a lot of the rooms. but its a good place, just a few minor flaws.

Usually stay at the lesser chains like Days Inn, thought we would upgrade for a special DC vacation with the grand kids. This isn't really an upgrade, mistaken about HI. Average room, missing some touches like coffee or cookies, pool closes early. AC is working pretty hard to keep the room about 80. If you're just looking for a spot near DC this will probably suffice. I'll probably shop around more next time.

The HI is located in a safe neighborhood, and is within walking distance of several restaurants . It is a older property, but has large rooms and they are very clean. The shuttle is pretty efficient. There is complimentary coffee in the restaurant in the morning. So what is the main function of the attendant in the pool area? Is he a lifeguard? He is not very friendly and he spent the entire time on his phone. I asked for towels, and he just pointed to them.

I was in town on a government related trip for a few days. The hotel was average, room, lobby, gym/pool areas were clean. On my first day when I arrived I thought there was a strange musky smell in the hallway of my room. But after I came and left a few times I did not notice anything. The king size bedroom was nice. Plenty of space for one person or even 2. The shuttle to and from the airport was great as well. Overall it was a good experience and I would stay here again if necessary.
