"My stay was wonderful and I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the place. It is very close to Washington DC and also close to good restaurants. There is even BJ's wholesale club in the area if you want to cook and stay longer. My studio suite was clean, no cigarette smell, bathroom was clean as well as the kitchen. The TV is flat screen and huge, not HD but it served the purpose. Bed was comfortable and sheets clean. I would come back."

"Room was enormous (full kitchen!), very clean, with spartan decor. Beds were comfortable. Flatscreen TV connected easily to a laptop with HDMI. Free WiFi worked very well.
Location is less than ideal... can't walk to Metro. We were dependent on the hotel shuttle to/from van Dorn Metro stop, which inexplicably didn't run after 10 pm.
Pool wasn't open. We didn't use the fitness center.
Breakfast was always very crowded. Don't expect to grab something quickly!"

"I enjoyed my suite with the nice comfortable bed and free shuttle to the metro station. I didn't expect a 5 star hotel for less than $100 near DC. I just feel that I got what I paid for. It has restaurants close by for those who don't wanna go to DC."

"When I checked into the Hawthorne Suites...I knew my stay would be great...based on the reviews, the value it was providing with all of the amenities, not to mention the friendliness of the staff upon my arrival. Everything was great my entire stay. UNFORTUNATELY things went wrong AFTER I checked out of the hotel. I noticed the day after I checked out that I had a charge on my debit card, more than just the authorization that was held on my card originally during my stay. I immediately thought either my friend I was with stayed late or stayed another night (being that I flew out earlier that morning). I called her and found out that she did NOT stay another night at the hotel. I then became confused and worried and called the hotel. I was informed that 'I' booked another night (extended my stay). I told them, that was impossible, as I flew out that day and my friend left that day as well. I called to inquire about this 4 times before actually speaking to the manager, and everyone I spoke with tried to convince me that we indeed extended our stay (as if we wouldn't know if we did or not)! I was very calm, although in the inside I was furious...but because I work in the hospitality industry as well, I am aware that mistakes happen...so I was trying to be understanding, and allow them to look into the situation, the documents, investigate, etc. and figure out what went wrong. When I spoke with the manager he too, tried to convince me of the same thing...along with supposed verbal evidence that we did indeed extend our stay. The front desk person even gave him some story about me saying my flight got canceled because of weather and I needed to stay another night. I voiced my concerns with the manager, and even questioned certain things and actions...which he couldn't quite answer. And even seemed to stump him. He told me that he would further look into the situation, and that he was on getting to the bottom of it. It has been OVER A WEEK since I spoke with him. I've called him 3 times and I have not heard anything. Mean while the charge is still on my card. I am very frustated that someone, if there really was someone...was able to make another reservation/extend a night in my room (if it really was my room number and/or name that they gave), WITHOUT MY I.D. OR DEBIT CARD that was charged! I dont know if someone else in a different room came up to extend and the front desk, either missed the correct room or name, or what....but this whole ordeal is completely irresponsible on their part...either way. And further more, the way they chose, and is choosing to NOT handle this situation is shocking and disgusting to me. We stayed at their hotel for 4 nights, and paid almost $500 ...why would I complain about 1 extra night stay, IF I OR MY FRIEND ACTUALLY STAYED!! I am not into paying for a service that I did not receive! Everyone, make the decision for yourself...but I would advise you to be very cautious about staying at this hotel! You never know what you are opening yourself up to!"
