We stayed here for two nights and was so surprised by the great friendly staff! Breakfast was hot and great taste staff circulates to see if everything is ok. Rooms were clean, fresh and comfortable. There are great attractions in this city: Creeper trail for hiking, Barter theatre and we saw The Grist mill as well.

So surprised by this hotel. The staff was so attentive, even calling prior to our arrival after noticing a duplicate reservation. We had a small gathering for a graduation reception in the lobby/breakfast area and they were so accommodating, even came from behind the front desk with water bottles in hand (and arms) offering them to all of us. The beds and pillows were so unbelievably comfortable that we didn't want to stay for just one night. I was so pleased to see name brand oatmeal offered f... Read more

We arrived for Appalachian Trail Days festival. Rates were already high for a little burg in western Virginia, but they were bumped (Friday/Saturday) for Trail Days. The desk clerk didn't blink when I asked him if rates were bumped for events: "Yup." he said. Who knows what they charge for races at Bristol. Room good; breakfast very good; property clean and well-kept. I am disappointed by the current trend to drag your dogs everywhere you go. The HIE allowed dogs on the first and second floor, ... Any wannabe or real Appalachian Trail hiker wishes to attend Trail Days in Damascus, Va at least once! Since rooms in Damascus are booked 2 years in advance, we stayed in Abingdon as it is close by with easy access from highway. Our room was spacious with a refrigerator, microwave and large screen TV. Seating was a nice couch, table with 2 chairs and another comfortable chair. The hotel was quiet and our stay comfortable. The breakfast was the normal hot/cold spread. We chose to drive the 10... Room was clean and updated but nothing special. The free breakfast was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient and right off Interstate 81. It was close to a Cracker Barrel where we ate dinner.

We were there one night. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was as good as this type normally is. It is at the interstate exit, but quite. It was not far from the main part of town (4 traffic lights).

Stayed overnight while visiting Abingdon & The Barter Theatre. Would highly recommend this hotel. The room was very spacious, comfortable and spotless. The staff went out of their way to make our stay most enjoyable and the free breakfast was delicious. Close to all attractions and restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.

While traveling between homes in PA and SC, we decided at the last minute to find a hotel for the night rather than face another 6+ hours of driving. We checked our vehicle's GPS and located the nearest choices and called Hampton Inn in Abingdon first but they were not pet friendly and suggested the Holiday Inn Express at Exit 19. Are we glad they did! Not only are they pet friendly, they are also people friendly! Nice, clean, conveniently located off I-81, comfortable room, good breakfast and q... Read more

The Hotel was clean and the early breakfast was well done and tasteful. But the staff was one of the friendliest and most accommodating staff I have ever had at a Hotel. From the GM, Mr. Brewer to all of his very helpful team, they were always interested in the guests experience , how they were doing and making sure that their stay was a very pleasant happening. Very close to the Tavern Restaurant and the Barter Theatre. Also, the city of Abingdon is very well kept and historical. Would recom... Read more

We were traveling to Pennsylvania from Tennessee. We decided to stay here for the night to get a few hours rest. The hallways were dimly lit therefore it wasn't a good first impression. One of our rooms had bright lights and made the room feel big and clean, the other room had dim lights and made the room feel smaller. Both rooms were clean. One bed had spots on the sheets (they seemed clean but I would rather be sure) so the front desk gave us new sheets. Overall out stay was pleasant! This pla... Read more

This was our second time to stay at this location. We stayed two nights. As with our first visit, the staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and tidy, and check in was a breeze. Access to the hotel from the highway was easy and since it was located on the main street leading through town, that placed all of the downtown atractions at your finger tips. The motel offers hot breakfast, which was well attended.

I normally stay in Lebanon, but it was full. I will be staying here from now on. The Customer service is outstanding. Danny does an amazing job. Jane makes breakfast special every morning by greeting you with a "Good Morning". The breakfast is typical HIE display. Nothing special, but effective. Eva checked me in. The staff was very polite and really prompt. My daughter left a headset there and the hotel manager sent it to us the very next day. We had it within three days of leaving the hotel. Awesome! It was really clean and the rooms were nice. The free, hot breakfast was by far the best I've eaten at a hotel thus far. Everything was hot and fresh! I will definately stay there again, if I am in the area.

If you are going to The Barter Theater, ask the ticket agent for the Play and Stay package. A very fair price for two tickets and a nights stay at the Holiday Inn Express. The hotel was modern, well laid out and very user friendly. The bedding was comfortable, the room clean and the bathroom well furnished as well. A great complimentary breakfast the next morning. All in all, a very good stay with a great play!

We stayed here two nights while visiting Abingdon and riding the Virginia Creeper Trail. Reading previous reviews we found that they have pet friendly rooms and we called them direct to reserve (276) 676-2829. We also found the VCA Animal Hospital which is about 1/4 mile from the hotel where we boarded our dog while we rode the trail which took longer (7 hrs including shuttle ride and leisurely lunch) than we expected. This hotel does not deserve the Holliday inn badge - in need if renovation, dirty, bad buffet- expensive for what it is - the fact that it is the only game in town is probably what keeps them in business and charge inflated rates. The Martha Washington inn does not take pets although the travel advisor said it did - I would look for alternatives if I go to Abington again

This hotel was nice, and in Abingdon there aren't a ton of really nice hotels. It was a little noisey at times through the night but overall was a good experience. It was on the higher end price wise and I feel like if you see something similar for cheaper, it may be a better option.

The Holiday is a well-managed property just off of I-81. It is very clean with quiet rooms and nice furnishings. It has your standard hotel breakfast of cereals, breads, and pre-made eggs. It's a little pricey for the area. The hotel next door, which is just as nice, is usually about 30% cheaper. It just happened to be sold out on the night we visited.
