hotel is super, but entering the roadway to go anywhere almost impossible due to traffic lights and patterns. Have to turn right and go down and Uturn to get into town or back on interstate, quite a hassle.

Was here for business. Clean, comfortable, attractive facilities, great breakfast, good atmosphere for business or pleasure. Quite clientele. Located close to interstate and all types of amenities. Great restaurants for all types of taste nearby. Lots of historical sites in the vicinity and options for entertainment. Personnel very plesant and helpful. Made being here for work a great experience.

We visited to attend Trail Days in Damascus, VA, and this was a very convenient location to use as a base. Our room was kept clean, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the food choices on the complimentary breakfast bar were varied and well-prepared. Parking was free and plentiful, and access to I-81 was adjacent to the hotel. Free wifi worked well. Shower could use a new shower head, but that was a minor issue. We'll likely stay here again next year.

Enjoyed the stay. Accommodations were very nice. Complimentary breakfast was also very good. Staff was very courteous and helpful, especially the front desk people. Only negative was that the military discount was not on par with most other hotels/motels where we've stayed.

You see many Hotels that show a picture of their place and you go there and it must have been taken years before. This Hotel is as advertised. It is modern and clean and very well run. The breakfast is excellent. It is well stocked and very clean. They had a good variety of items. The bed was very comfortable as well and the room size was decent.

Have stayed several times for work trips. Rooms are clean and presentable, bed is marginally comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is mediocre, but they do have little "to go" breakfast bags. Consider more updated hotels in Bristol if it's an option.

Stay 4 nights and was a little disappointed. I noticed maintenence items all over the hotel that aren't being corrected. Things like faucets dripping, carpets sticky and the dampers on the fire doors not working properly. There was a decent selection at breakfast, but not always good (their idea of an omelet is way different than mine. The room was clean except for the sticky carpet. The bed was good. Two rooms booked for two couples for recent NHRA event in Bristol. Rooms were nice - spacious, clean, microwave & mini-fridge. Guess bed comfort varies - prior traveler didn't think they were comfortable, but all 4 of us were quite pleased & slept soundly. During our stay, they were very busy but it was peaceful. The pool is pretty small & the water was cold, but we did sit out & enjoy the evening - even saw a deer grazing in the field. Breakfast was ample with good selection of hot & cold items... Read more

We recently stayed here during a family road trip. The hotel is clean, conveniently located, and the service staff is very friendly. However, we barely got any sleep until about 3 AM. That's was because we had a room near the stairwell door and the rear door entrance. Anyone coming in those doors would simply let the door slam which was very loud in the room we were staying in. Do not stay in rooms 101 through 106. And just in case, do not stay in rooms 201 through 204. The only other issue we h... Read more

Exactly what you would expect at a HI: well located, friendly receptionist, treat (in this case, cookies), a room like every other Hamp Inn and similar motel chain in the USA. Biggest complaint is HVAC noisily cycling on and off, Interrupting sleep. Overall, Seems a bit pricy for what's delivered. Best Western Plus often a better value, but breakfasts here are superior.

This is our fourth or so visit to this Hampton Inn. My wife and I like it because it is a very, very clean and welcoming. All the staff are friendly and helpful. They directed us to a very nice restaurant so we could attend a play at the Barter Theater. The rooms are larger than many, but our favorite spot at the Inn is their pool. It has an accessible pool with a lift and places for sitting and thinking about the plays we have just seen. A really lovely inn.

The location was perfect for attending a show at the Barter Theater. It was quiet and clean with a very comfortable bed. The free breakfast included a variety of cold and hot items. There was also a good variety of coffee offered. The only problem came when exiting back onto the highway. The location is too close to the light, so if needing to turn left, you actually will have to turn right and then turn around. Once we figured that out, it wasn't a problem!

We stayed the night before biking the upper half of the Virginia Creeper trail. The desk staff were a great help with restaurant recommendations and were genuinely welcoming upon our arrival. The breakfast staff were great too. We loved the pool. It was nicely arranged and the view was of a sweeping slope of well tended grass rather than a parking lot of a fast food restaurant! Mattresses were great as at all Hamptons.

Abingdon is the perfectly placed on the Southbound 81 Interstate from its Northern neighbor (it's a relief to see civilization when you need to stop and stretch your legs or refresh). We stopped out of necessity last year, and loved what we saw. This year, we purposely planned to the trip to enjoy it on its own. The Hampton is a perfect place to recharge from the area's hiking/biking/adventuring!

The room as fine. The bathroom was not that clean and needed some new caulking and it was extremely small. Only one person in there at a time for sure. Breakfast has a lot of items but only a few was good enough to eat. At the rate of 150+ did not match up with the quality you got. Maybe i would have felt better if rate was lower. Then you would not have expected better. I just think price is way to high for what you get.

The Hampton Inn has a standard and one that is expected at all of their hotels. We normally stay at Hampton because of the comfort of the beds. The beds were comfortable but the cleanliness was not to the same standard as you would expect from Hampton Inn. The front lobby staff were friendly and attentive. The club chair and ottoman in our room was soiled and although the staff replaced it promptly the next day, the "newer" one was not too much cleaner. This Hampton Inn is nice, but starting to show some signs of wear. Could have been a bit cleaner, but was acceptable. If your going to do the bike trail, this Hampton is not far from the start, but the traffic is bad if you plan on riding your bike there.
