For a lodge that was updated in the 80's, this place is still a good time! Beginning with fabulously friendly, attentive service and farm-to-table menu's that complement the "family lodge" atmosphere. Warm fires throughout the lodge and staff that are more-than-willing to chase you around with hot chocolate, craft beer, snacks, and crayons for the kiddos. Whatever the property doesn't have in the way of new amenities, it more than makes up for in service and hospitality. Family's were smiling, p... Read more

The hotel was 5star quality and everyone was very friendly. There were two restaurants one being the bier hall (burgers etc and plenty of Von Trapp brewery beer). Then there was the more formal restaurant. The brewery just down the road had a very interesting tour. The short film made by the real Maria was fascinating and in the grounds is the burial place of the Von Trapp Family. All around are stunning views and lovely walks

For many years my family enjoyed cross country ski at Trapp Family Lodge. The atmosphere reminded us of when we lived in Europe. For those who wanted downhill, there are many options nearby. For those who prefer a simple walk in the woods with snow shoes, there are many trails that lead to the chapel. You can relax with massage or sit in the Austrian tea room and admire the view. Or, if you prefer, relax at home by the fire. By far, Trapp Family lodge and the time shares there are the bes... Read more

We had a fabulous stay--service was friendly and attentive, room (king superior) was beautiful and immaculate with balcony and mountain views, food at the lodge and at the bierhall was delicious and unique including their own farm to table produce, great cross-country skiing and snow shoeing, also enjoyed the large indoor lap pool, hot tub and horse drawn sleigh. A very special place. Definitely planning to return!

From the moment we drove up, we could easily see why the Trapp Family chose this location to make their home. The view is spectacular, and the lodge that they built certainly does it justice. There is a wonderful movie that was shown downstairs of Maria talking about her memories from the time she entered the convent and her life with the Trapp Family, and the real story behind the Sound of Music. She was in her eighties when they made that documentary, but she went back to Austria to visit t... Read more

You just can't beat a week at Trapp Family Lodge for rest and relaxation! We use our guest house week every other year the week before Christmas. We almost always have snow and can also enjoy all of the Christmas decorations at the lodge. The new beer hall is very enjoyable with an excellent mixed grill for 3-4 people. Trapp Lagers are excellent as well. The guest houses are very comfortable for 4-6 people with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. I only wish the master bedroom had a king instead of qu... Read more

I had a wonderful comfortable stay at Trapp Family Lodge for two nights at the end of October during Vermont's stunning Fall/Autumn season as part of an Insight Vacations seven day tour of New England. I was travelling solo on the tour and meeting up with a friend later on in Boston, so feeling comfortable and safe in a hotel or lodge is important for a woman on her own. The lodge, surrounding villas, and scenic grounds resemble what I have seen in Austria so it felt like I was in Europe! As a f... Read more

We've stayed at Trapp Family Lodge several times and have never been disappointed. We love the atmosphere, the service is always first class, and we've found it to be a relaxing retreat as a Vermont staycation. There are many places in the lodge to tuck in by a fireplace, read or play a quiet game or do a puzzle. The trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing are literally out the back door, the indoor pool is large and decently heated, the Jacuzzi is outside with a view and the fitness ... Read more

This was our third stay at the Trapp Family Lodge, second Christmas season visit. It never disappoints. We stayed in one of the guest houses a family of 6 adults and one toddler. Snow had fallen as we arrived and continued throughout this first week in December. The efficient wood stove provided extra warmth and a comfy atmosphere as we gazed through the large windows facing the mountains in the distance. The amenities are great here between the fitness center with its large indoor pool,... Read more

We stayed at the Lodge over the 2016 Christmas Holidays. The location is very beautiful. The staff are very helpful and friendly, food in the main lodge is just about ok. Nearby restaurants were much better. We added an extra night to our reservation and had to move rooms fort he final night. Though the cost of the room was the same the experience was not the same. It made us regret adding the extra night. Please note that though the Lodge lists activities for the day one has to pay for most... Read more
